00:00Hello from the Bureau. Let's take a look at the weather forecast around the country for Thursday
00:03the 5th of February. Widespread wet and stormy conditions across our northern latitudes,
00:09particularly around this tropical low area here moving through the Kimberley. In general,
00:14for the southern half of Australia on Thursday, we'll see a continuation of the very dry weather
00:20which has impacted, well, large areas through the year so far. For many spots, temperatures
00:25will be a little more mild than they have been through the week so far, but it is still going
00:29to be rather warm in New South Wales in particular. Let's fly around the states starting in Queensland.
00:35A pleasant day for the southeast of Queensland, not as cloudy as it has been on Wednesday with
00:40temperatures near 30 degrees. Most other parts of the state though could see showers or storms on
00:45Thursday. If you're along the east coast, really anywhere north of Rockhampton, could be seeing
00:49some wet, possibly stormy weather. And we also have a risk of storms across central and western
00:54districts, all the way from the far southwest right up to those northern coastlines.
01:00A very different story in New South Wales. It's a warm and mostly sunny day here. We'll see most of our
01:05urban centres in the 30s and many places in the mid or even upper 30s, including Canberra,
01:1036 degrees and we've got widespread 38 degree plus temperatures out through the west as well.
01:16Now, the vast majority of the day will be sunny, but as we get into the afternoon, a little bit of cloud
01:20will build and that will bring a low risk of a shower or a thunderstorm through areas south of
01:25Sydney and also across our western districts, but you'd be pretty unlucky if you happened to get some
01:31rain. To Victoria now, quite a settled day here. A bit of morning clouds south of the mountains,
01:37but that should all burn away through the morning and then it will be sunny statewide for the second
01:42half of the day. Temperatures vary quite a lot across the state. We'll see low 20s in the southern
01:48half, but high 30s through some areas in the north. It will still be a little bit gusty across eastern
01:53parts of Victoria on Thursday and that is likely to bring us extreme fire dangers through parts of
01:58the northeast around Wangaratta and Albury-Wodonga. A fresh gusty westerly wind is affecting Tasmania
02:05on Thursday. That's a weather pattern that feels much more like springtime than it does late summer,
02:09but nonetheless it will be bringing a few showers on and west of the mountain ranges. Eastern areas,
02:16including Hobart, unlikely to see any rainfall, but you'll get some cool gusty winds and certainly
02:21some passing cloud cover. To South Australia, just a little bit of morning cloud across the
02:26south coast. That dissipates and the sun will be out for the majority of the day. Temperatures are a
02:31little bit milder across southern areas including on and around the peninsulas after a few warmer days
02:37through the week so far. Most areas will have dry sunny skies, but up in the very far north a few showers
02:43and thunderstorms are possible and that's actually going to become quite common in the coming week
02:48or so. We anticipate quite a lot of rainfall over outback parts of South Australia over the next
02:54seven to ten days. To Western Australia now, still seeing gusty, easterly winds affecting the state
03:00here. Now they are dry and those winds will be blowing under sunny skies, but they will push temperatures
03:05up and they'll make for some fairly blustery old conditions at times across the west coast. Perth
03:11headed for 34 degrees. Notably cooler and cloudier along the south coast, but sunny everywhere else.
03:17And finally, across Australia's northern tropics we see extensive cloud cover, moisture, showers and
03:23thunderstorms. And it's not just the far north either. We actually see this wet and stormy weather
03:28plunging deeply into central Australia. That's likely to mean widespread 20 to 50 millimetres across the
03:35northern territory on Thursday. Potentially a little bit more than that out over the Kimberley,
03:40we could be seeing 80 or 100 millimetres in some locations there with rain and storms forecast
03:45pretty much at any stage of day. If you'd like to check out Friday's forecast or the early outlook
03:51for the weekend, find your spot on the Bureau's website or app. Thank you very much for watching.
