In this exclusive interview from the set of Cynthia Erivo's Essence shoot, we ask the actress, singer, and songwriter about how she prepares for a performance and her beauty routine.
Transcript
00:00Every role or every performance needs something different. As a singer I like
00:11to do like a full proper warm-up with the trills and everything. I stay super
00:18hydrated. I will make sure that I have some tea always. I don't drink caffeine
00:23because it dehydrates you and then if I'm doing a speaking role or on set then
00:28I want to know ahead of time what I'm saying. I never want to have to keep the
00:32paper in my hand on set and look at things like finding out what the
00:36character wears as a perfume, like what scent they wear. I use aloe if your skin's
00:44irritated. That sort of like resets everything. There's nothing really
00:48harmful in it. It'll keep everything calm and I wash my face but try not to do
00:53anything that will strip your face of moisture. My thing is that I have to stay
00:58hydrated when it comes to skin so I just use soap that doesn't strip you of
01:02moisture. Don't over exfoliate because that actually just strips the skin of
01:07everything.
