00:00My name is Myles Ritchie and this is my fashion story.
00:10I've been an active model for about a year now.
00:12I was such a shy person, I've always been so shy.
00:15Like if you see my kindergarten picture, I'm not even in it because I'm behind the bleacher.
00:19It's like I've always been so shy so it took me about a year and a half to like build up my confidence to even get myself out there in that way.
00:25But it is interesting in this like modeling field and the fashion field, you kind of have to be, you have to push yourself.
00:29My dad and my mom, they all just keep pushing me forward every single day and every day I'm just determined to be better.
00:34Because I never even thought about being in fashion because I didn't want to follow the trend of my whole family.
00:38So if I like people to like me for me rather than liking me for who my family is.
00:46Surprisingly enough, I went to UCLA and was majoring in accounting.
00:49And one day I woke up and my friend was like, you're not meant to be an accountant, man.
00:54And I went the next day and got my hands tattooed and dropped out of UCLA.
00:58And I got scouted and then from that point on it's just all been great.
01:02I haven't had any pushback really entirely.
01:04People have been very accepting of my, first off my tattoos, which are very different in like high fashion and breaking into fashion.
01:10And then also I think having tattoos has helped me because it sets me apart from other people.
01:14I have all sorts of just random stuff from all different cultures because that's what I believe the world is about.
01:18It's all about true love and mixing everything together into one thing.
01:21So I'm like, I'm half black, I'm half Greek.
01:23And then I have all these different cultures on me.
01:25So I like to be a sort of melting pot of everything.
01:28The first show that I ever walked actually in my life was the Philip Klein show at New York Fashion Week.
01:33I want to say it was like a year ago.
01:35And it was the first time I've ever walked and I had to wear these big like huge heavy boots.
01:40And we were walking through snow and it was a spaceship that came down.
01:44The Migos came out.
01:45It was fun, but it was intense.
01:47I feel like an African-American community really has been taken over.
01:51Rihanna is killing it.
01:52Winnie Harlow embracing her skin condition is absolutely amazing.
01:55I think that an African-American community in the fashion community is absolutely thriving.
01:59My personal style I would describe as a high-end grunge bum.
02:03I love wearing combat boots, bombers, trench coats, high-waisted pants I love, plaid I love.
02:09Lots of denim jackets, black and gray, and maybe a white t-shirt if I'm feeling risky.
02:13I prefer it being that I have to work for what I feel.
02:20Because if life is just handed to you then you don't learn who you truly are as a person.
02:25If you have to push yourself every day to become better and to grow yourself as a brand, as a person, as a soul,
02:32then that's what it's all about.
