00:00Hey guys, it's Destiny Lachey. I'm so excited to be collaborating with Essence. In today's video,
00:16I'm gonna be showing you guys how I do a purple sunset eyeshadow look, and I'm also gonna be
00:22showing you guys how I highlight and contour. So make sure you stay tuned and keep watching.
00:26So my eyelids are already primed. I already have my base on my face and what I'm gonna do first is I'm
00:33gonna take this nice pigmented orange eyeshadow and I'm gonna use a fluffy brush and I'm gonna dip
00:40that in the shadow and just pick up some of the products. And what I'm gonna do is start putting
00:46that right below the brow bone and just kind of blending it out. You want to create a transition
00:58color first and I love using oranges because they just look so pretty and it just really warms up
01:05your eye. So I'm gonna go in and do the other eye. You just want to build the color up until you like how
01:18it looks. You just want to make sure you blend as much as you can. And then I like to go in with a
01:36smaller brush and I use a red shade. So I'm gonna pick up this color right here. I like to use a really really
01:44small crease kind of I call these like pinched eyeshadow brushes and the closer you get to your eye
01:52ball as what you want to do is use a smaller brush. So I like using a brush like this.
01:58And I just go into that red shade and I just go one notch lower and just begin to put that color
02:14down in the crease.
02:21Anytime you're doing a smokey eye you just want to kind of move one notch down on your eyelid
02:26and just start packing in the color.
02:37You don't want to cover up that orange shade you just kind of want to blend the red in with it.
02:46So next I'm gonna go into this blue shade and we're gonna use this as a gradient in between the red
02:53and purple. So I'm gonna use that same brush that we used for the red and I'm gonna dig into this blue shade
03:01and just pick that up.
03:06And like I said we're gonna go one notch lower onto the eyelid
03:12and just begin to put that right below the red shade.
03:17And with darker colors you want to be very careful where you're applying them
03:27because they can get a little bit messy.
03:34You can also tap off your brush like this just to get some of the excess powder off.
03:39And you just want to keep blending until you like how it looks.
03:52You also can wipe off your brush on the back of your hand or on a paper towel just to blend out
03:58even further. I'm just gonna blend this blue shade in with the red.
04:03And I like to use this little trick where I pull my eyelid to kind of get some of the color to deposit right.
04:12And it helps you to blend a lot better. You can pull it and then start to blend.
04:22I'm just gonna take a really really small brush like this. A really small blending brush.
04:27And this is clean. I'm just gonna use that to kind of blend the purple or the blue into the red.
04:41Now I'm gonna go in and use this really nice grape purple shade.
04:47And I'm gonna use a concealer brush to put this all over my lid.
04:57I'm gonna take that blending brush that we used before
05:25to put in the blue color. And I'm just going to blend the purple into the blue a little bit.
05:37To make our eyes pop a little bit more, I'm gonna use this shimmery purple shade right here.
05:44I'm gonna use that same concealer brush. And I'm gonna put that color in the center of my lid.
05:55And I'm gonna pull that up into the blue shade like that.
06:05I'm kind of just creating a little halo eye with this shade.
06:14I just want to kind of blend out the edges so that they're not as harsh.
06:18I'm gonna take that small blending brush again. And I'm just gonna blend that shimmery shade,
06:26the purple shimmery shade, into the rest of the eye.
06:36Okay, so now it's time for eyelashes. This is almost my favorite part. I love adding eyelashes
06:41because it just helps, especially if you make mistakes with your eyeshadow. And it just kind of
06:47makes your eyes pop even more. So I'm gonna use lashes that I use constantly over and over and over
06:54again. So I like to use these kind of lashes because they're very wispy and they're long,
06:59and they make your eyelashes look very kind of naturally long, if that makes sense. So I really
07:05like lashes like this. And I double them up. So I like to apply my lashes with an applicator instead
07:15of my hands. It just makes it a lot easier to put the glue on. And it also makes it a lot easier
07:21to apply the lashes. I just put a little bit of glue on the lash like this.
07:26And then I make sure the eyelash is in the applicator, very close to the band. And I go in and take my lash
07:39and I apply it upwards. So I hold my lash up to the sky. And I apply it directly to my lash line.
07:48And boom, you got a lash. And what I like to do once they dry after about two seconds, I like to pinch
07:58them together with the applicator. Like that. So basically doubling your lashes just helps to make
08:08them a lot fuller. And it means that you're putting two lashes on top of each other. So I like to take
08:14two actual lashes and put them together like a sandwich. And it just makes the lashes a lot thicker.
08:27Sometimes I get lash glue on the top portion of my eyeshadow. So what I like to do is always have
08:32a q-tip at hand. And this q-tip has a little point on it so that it can get right inside my lash line
08:41without messing up my eyeshadow. So I just take that q-tip and kind of wipe away some of that glue.
08:50And then just kind of adjust my lash.
08:59And just make sure you pinch them together so that you can't tell the difference between
09:16your eyelashes and the falsiness. Now what I do next, I usually go in and highlight and contour.
09:24So I like to do this because it really helps my eyeshadow to pop. And it kind of gives me a visual
09:28of what I want my eyeshadow to look like. And then I go in and finish my eyes. So what I'm going to use
09:34for concealer today is a really medium coverage concealer. And this is just going to conceal underneath
09:40my eyes and kind of highlight the center of my face. So I just use the applicator to go right underneath.
09:51And I also like to put it down the bridge of my nose, my chin, and on my cupid's bow.
10:12Kind of like to make a little mustache, especially if you're dark around this area, just add a ton of concealer right there.
10:26And then I just go in with my little sponge and I blend it out.
10:40And I just look up when I'm blending my concealer out because it gets in the creases of your eyes.
10:49And it just makes everything look better.
10:53So once I put my concealer down, I like to set it with a powder because underneath my eyes does
10:59crease a little bit. So I use a little bit of translucent setting powder and I dip my sponge in that.
11:05And then I go in underneath my eyes looking up, just applying the powder right underneath my eyes
11:16and just kind of pressing it in. This will just set everything so that nothing moves around
11:22and we don't have any issues throughout the day. So I'm just going to take a little bit more powder.
11:33I just put it on my nose right here and a little bit on my cupid though.
11:40At this point, you're going to look crazy, but trust me, it's going to come together at the ends.
11:43So I like to go in and contour. I like to use a contour stick. I just like to go in and kind of
11:52get right here on my cheekbone. And I do it on the other side too.
11:59And I like to just blend that out. This will just really chisel the cheeks and
12:10kind of not make you look as flat.
12:17You want to make sure that you don't have any flashback, especially when you're going to like
12:22a wedding or taking photos or something like that. So I like to use a powder to sweep away my bake.
12:30So I use a mineralized powder and
12:38I just sweep away that powder underneath my eyes.
12:41And for me, contouring isn't enough. I like to go in with a bronzing powder
13:01because it just really warms up the face and contour to me just looks so like blah.
13:06So I'm going to use some bronzing powder.
13:08It's just any warm powder that you can find that has a red undertone to it.
13:14I use the same brush, dip into that, and I just kind of go over that contour.
13:32You can go like on your forehead as well with the bronzing powder,
13:36as well as your contour to just kind of warm up the face a little bit.
13:42And I also go on my jawline. I also like to kind of contour my nose.
13:48I like using any brush that I have and I pinch it.
13:52And I kind of contour my nose a little bit with the rest of the powder that's on the brush.
14:02Just to kind of chisel my cheeks a little bit, I take some translucent powder.
14:06And this is a tinted powder.
14:11And I use my sponge again, go back, go into this powder.
14:15And I just kind of snatch my cheeks.
14:20And this just really helps to clean up any mistakes that you made with the contour.
14:33And this also helps to like mattify your face.
14:37And then after like two seconds, I like to just sweep this away.
14:43And then what I like to do is go in and finish the face.
14:45I like using a highlighter.
14:48I'm going to use a goldish tone today mixed with this little champagne color.
14:53So I'm going to mix these two and I'm going to use a fan brush to kind of dip into both of these.
14:58I like to put some of the highlighter right underneath my brow bone as well.
15:13And just kind of curve it down.
15:23This just gives you that nice glowy looking skin.
15:28And I also like to put some on my nose.
15:39And down the bridge, a little bit on my cupid's bow and a little on my chin.
15:44So now just to finish up the face, I'm going to go ahead and use some setting spray.
15:50I'm going to use just any setting spray that you have.
15:53Honestly, you can make some, but I'm just going to use this and I'm going to spray my face.
15:58And this is just going to kind of take the cakiness away from all the powder that we added.
16:04I just like to fan my face.
16:07And at this point, I just like to kind of tap it in.
16:09And let it dry.
16:18Next, I'm going to go ahead and use a eyeliner.
16:21And this is really going to make our eyes pop a little bit more.
16:25I know I keep saying that, but I promise you this helps.
16:28And I'm just going to go in and kind of fill in my waterline.
16:32And now after that, we're going to replicate the same thing that we did on the top on the bottom lash line.
16:50So I'm going to take these three colors or these four colors, sorry.
16:56And I'm going to use those on the bottom lash line with that pinched blending brush.
17:03You just really want to bring that up into this part of the eye and just kind of blend it down.
17:18I'm going to go into the red color and just smoke that out.
17:30And now I'm going to take a really, really small pencil brush.
17:41And I'm going to go into the next shade, which is the blue shade that we used earlier.
17:45Still going in the same pattern.
17:49Dipping that in and getting even closer to the lash line.
18:00And then I'm going to go into the purple shade with that same pencil brush.
18:07And just blend that out on top of the blue.
18:15To make it pop a little bit more, I'm going to take some of this highlighter shade with that same pencil brush.
18:20And just put some of that in the inner corners of the eye.
18:34So a trick that I like to do for lips is take a liquid eyeshadow.
18:38And this is actually like a nice glittery liquid eyeshadow.
18:42And this is like holographic.
18:45And it's really pretty.
18:47But I like to take that on my finger and just apply it to my lips.
18:56And then I like to apply a gloss on top.
19:00Any gloss that you have is fine.
19:09It just kind of gives your lips that sheen.
19:14This is the final look guys.
19:16This is my purple sunset smokey eye.
