00:00Every single morning, I want us to live our lives so that when the sun hits our beautiful brown skin, that the justice blockers might get a little uneasy.
00:16The National Action Network is the most important organization that we have that's really supporting our community.
00:25And this convention is one of the most important dates of the year that we all come together and really understand what we need to do to deal with the injustices that we still face.
00:37As Reverend Al always says, when we have issues in our community, you know what I'm saying, whether it's police brutality, whether it's a woman being assaulted, who do you call?
00:48Like, you know, there's a lot of people out here claiming to be activists and, you know, claiming to have a facility, but they don't have a facility.
00:55They don't even have a phone number that you can call.
00:56The National Action Network is somebody that you can actually call.
00:58I mean, people always give Reverend Al a flack and say, oh, Reverend Al, he shows up to everything.
01:04Yeah, because that's his job.
01:06That's what he's supposed to do.
01:07He's supposed to be there for his people.
01:08He's got a number that you can call, and when you call it, him and the National Action Network show up, that's what they're about.
01:13They're about that action, so we should appreciate them.
01:14This is a room filled with women who excel in business, who excel in politics, who excel in entertainment, who excel in fashion.
01:23So it's a really lovely, inclusive room.
01:25Last year, I was actually honored, and so it's always a great event, much like the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event.
01:32For Essence to be here and to be a part of this annual convention, to co-host this women's luncheon, is a privilege for us.
01:40Reverend Al Sharpton stands for the community, so we stand with Reverend Al Sharpton.
