Transcript
00:00I am joined by the hilarious Craig Robinson. How are you?
00:06Good. How are you?
00:07I'm fabulous. Thank you for joining us.
00:08Thank you for having me.
00:09And congratulations on your new show, which launched last night on NBC.
00:12Thank you very much.
00:13Mr. Robinson, tell us a little bit about the show because you play a music teacher,
00:17which is just like your real life.
00:19Some of you out there may not know you were a music teacher in Chicago.
00:22That's correct. And it's based in Chicago.
00:24And I have my band on there. So, you know, the Nasty Delicious.
00:28And is that the name of your real band?
00:30That's my real band. My real band members are on the show with me.
00:32Oh, really?
00:33Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So we've got that part of it.
00:36Megan Good plays my love interest.
00:38Got a crush on Megan Good, like most of the world.
00:40Like most people.
00:41Yeah, so, you know, those are the variables that make it close to my life.
00:47How much of the show is fact versus fiction?
00:49Like, did you actually have a love interest in some of the schools you were in?
00:53There were some things going on back in school.
00:57But we'll leave it at that.
00:58But other than that, that's about where it is, those aspects of it.
01:06And then the writers go and they create a world that you saw before you.
01:11And how involved are you in some of the music that's in the show?
01:14I, you know, the writers put the lyrics down and then I come in and do the melody and then, you know, figure out what's the core structure and all that is.
01:24And then the band makes it We Nasty Deliciousizes.
01:27And where the hell did the name Nasty Delicious come from?
01:30Well, it came from me and it's just that, you know, it's very simple.
01:34It's like, you know how something can be just funky and it's just, it's good.
01:38It's a delicious thing, but it's still nasty.
01:41You know, so it's that, that's exactly what it is.
01:45You think you guys might put an album out soon?
01:47Yes.
01:48Absolutely.
01:49Without a doubt.
01:50Okay.
01:51And how many instruments do you play?
01:52I'm curious about this.
01:53Let me see.
01:54I play a mean harmonica.
01:56Really?
01:57Come on down.
01:58Not really.
01:59A kazoo.
02:00I learned in Ms. Baker's kindergarten class how to play the kazoo.
02:03We are looking for a kazoo player.
02:04I'm a mean kazoo player.
02:06That's not, I mean, don't play me.
02:08Don't play me.
02:09No, no, no.
02:10Don't play, don't do me.
02:11No.
02:12I'm there.
02:13Well, all right.
02:14Then come on down.
02:15Thank you for a nasty delicious.
02:16Boom.
