Paula Deen has come under fire yet again for a picture that was posted to her social media accounts showing her son Bobby Deen in brownface. Are we tired of hearing Paula's apologies? Hear what our #SlayedorShade panel has to say.
Transcript
00:00All right, so lastly, earlier this week, a picture of Miss Paula Deen dressed up like
00:07Lucy from the show I Love Lucy was posted and went viral. The reason for the post going viral
00:11was that her son Bobby, who was supposed to be Ricardo from the show, was in brownface.
00:16Paula released an apology and did say that the image was from a Halloween episode of
00:20Paula's Best Dishes that aired back in 2011. All right, so does Miss Paula slay because
00:25she immediately fired her social media manager, who allegedly posted it and issued an apology?
00:30Or do we shade Paula because this is the second time Paula's apologizing for being racially
00:35insensitive? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on us. All right, here we go. Slade or
00:40shade? Oh, we have shade, slate, and shade. I'm going to start with you, Yolandi. Why the shade?
00:45Well, I need to understand why Paula Deen. What is her, like, thing with people of color? Like,
00:50just leave us alone, Paula. Like, you don't need, we don't need that. She didn't need to do that.
00:56Just leave us alone. So shady for me.
00:58Yeah. So shady, Sharia? My sleigh is strictly for the reminder. Thank you for reminding us
01:03you're racist and you're consistently racist. And also, it's great timing. So before people
01:08spend their money on these blackface costumes for October, I already know that it's not cool.
01:13So I thank her for creating a conversation for us to remind A, she's racist, and B, no to
01:17blackface or brownface. Because you know there's always a black or brownface at Halloween.
01:20Somebody who didn't realize it was insensitive. Yeah, they need to take heed.
01:23Yeah, always one. I agree with Sharia because I remember having that moment when, you know,
01:28she got ostracized for the right reasons. But then she did like, I don't know if it was a
01:33TED Talk or something, but she was welcomed back and everyone was applauding her. And so
01:37now, you know, and now if I have this, is that reminder like, you were racially insensitive.
01:42You were racist. Consistently. Yeah, and you have been. So, and you just, when we're about to just a
01:48little bit welcome you back, I mean, not we, but Collective Week, some folk. It's just a good
01:53reminder, so. Reminder, you racist. Okay.
