00:00We all know Debbie Allen is known for her dancing and her directing,
00:03but we also love her for one iconic line that she delivered in Fame.
00:08You want fame? Well, fame costs.
00:12And right here is where you start pain and sweat.
00:16Taraji even said the line in a recent episode of Empire.
00:19You know that it's iconic when Cookie says it,
00:22but Debbie Allen said it first, and we love her for it.
00:24I do have a small personal history with Debbie Allen.
00:28I'm just going to put it out there.
00:29We all know Debbie Allen is a dancer, and she can teach you to dance.
00:32And you want to dance like Debbie, you want to be Debbie Allen, really.
00:35So we had an opportunity to interview her at Alvin Ailey Studios, which, you know, in itself is grand.
00:40We had this skit where she was going to teach me how to dance.
00:42Now, I'll be honest, yes, I'm a black girl, but I'm that black girl who really can't dance all that well.
00:47I'm not good with beats. I never was.
00:49One, two. One, two. One, two.
00:53Oh, girl. One, two, three. Say, one, two.
00:56But that's fine.
00:58We were like, okay, well, maybe she can teach me.
01:00And she's trying.
01:01She's trying to teach me a little saucer move, and I just could not get the steps.
01:05I mean, she was clearly like, come on, girl, come on.
01:08And she grabbed my hand and go, five, six, seven, eight.
01:12And she's trying to do it.
01:13And then she was like, you know what?
01:14Just get drunk, put on a cute dance, and go dancing.
01:18That's all you have to do.
01:19And I loved her for it because that's exactly what I've been doing,
01:22and I will be doing later.
01:23And I'll be doing later.
