Papa Pope gives us his insight on who Olivia Pope should date and what makes a good father.
Transcript
00:00Well, one can't divorce from the other, if you see what I mean.
00:17I mean, he never stops being a command, and he never stops being a father.
00:22I guess the rule of thumb is you're a father for all of your life,
00:25and as far as he's concerned, you're a command for all of your life.
00:28What's happening? You're skipping around in a field full of bombs and mistaking them for daisies.
00:35Usually that question is either Fitz or Jake. Neither. Fitz, because he's married,
00:41and Jake, because there's a rule. The rule is no one in B613 can have a family, so Jake is out as well.
00:49I didn't think sacrifices endanger my people to end up right back where we started.
00:53You mean the sacrifice of sleeping with me so you could hack into my phone?
00:58No girl's father. Well, you have to be so mediocre.
01:10I would imagine a father is someone who's actually taking care of his children,
01:13and a dad sounds like a father just in name only. I think that's the implication.
01:17Olivia? Can you just be, I don't know, nice for a minute to me? Can you be a dad? Normal, kind, regular dad for just a few seconds for me, please?
01:33Well, it depends on the woman. But obviously, I guess the rule of thumb is never get involved with someone who has more problems than you do.
01:46So, if my daughter brought home someone who had more problems than she, I would say this is probably not a good match.
01:51It's an interesting scene because just on the face of it, you have a black man in chains telling a southern white Republican president that he's a boy.
02:04So, that reversal just by itself is fairly huge.
02:07Daddy's rich and your mama's good-looking. You're a brat. You got money in your blood. You are a boy.
02:19Clearly, you know, Tony has to walk into the scene not knowing how I'm going to do it, and I'm not quite sure how he's going to respond to it.
02:28But we had, it was good. I mean, I think, you know, he was very complimentary afterwards, but it's hard.
02:33You know, if someone is sort of at you like that, it's a hard thing to do.
02:39So far, I think my favorite is Everyone is Worth Saving, because everyone is worth saving.
02:44Everyone is worth saving. In the face of darkness, you drag everyone into the light.
02:56Oh, the one that that guy posts on Twitter all the time?
02:59Yeah, I have, and I actually did one myself early on. I think we did it last season.
03:06I love, I mean, for the most part, they're really good. I really like them a lot.
03:09Why did you try to have me killed?
03:11Girl, I ain't try to have you killed. I try to have Jake killed.
03:14He deliberately disobeyed me. And what's worse, he put Nala in danger.
03:21Well, you've seen in the promo that there's an explosion, so you'll find out what and how and who.
03:26Well, you've seen me wheeled into the hospital, so you'll find out whether I survive or don't survive.
03:33Well, I suppose you'll find out, you know, what's going on with Fitz and Sally in terms of the election.
03:39For tonight's episode, which is the finale, basically, you know, most people sort of have a bottle of wine and a glass.
03:45You know, they forget the glass, just pop the cork and slide in a straw.
