00:00you haven't heard from me in a minute so what I've been doing literally for the
00:15last few years I released a gospel album in 2006 which I recorded live in my home
00:20town of New York and I've literally been kind of going around the country and
00:25doing different things connected to the gospel album what it also did was open
00:29up doors for me to do inspirational and motivational speaking which I love to do
00:33anybody that knows me knows that I love to talk but a lot of women's groups a lot
00:40of children's groups and with that just expanding Kelly has a new album that's me
00:46and the album is called Kelly I'm so excited about this project I'm so proud
00:51of this project I literally believe that it's somewhat of a journey that has
00:55brought me full circle and I believe that growth and and and traveling your
01:00what you're doing with your life is a constant thing but I'm entering a new
01:05phase of life right now and and the first album I think I will always love and it
01:10will always be the standout project in my head because it was the first time I had
01:14an opportunity to present myself to the world but this album is all of that and
01:20then some Kelly has amazing music Kelly has tired which was the first single
01:25that we were nominated for a Grammy for I'm so excited about that tired literally
01:30just listed everything in my 38 years 37 and a half years of living that has
01:37made me angry upset have remorse maybe even be depressed wish I could do it over
01:45again but these are also universal themes to like you can almost go to
01:49anybody that's lived any life and they can tell you they've been in a situation
01:52the second single is a song called not my daddy it is the only collaboration on
01:58this project because the album Kelly is Kelly the one collaboration I have is
02:03with Stokely of mint condition who is a good friend but he's been a favorite of
02:07mine I am a huge fan of mint condition I have been for many many many years music is
02:12the one thing in life I believe if not the only thing it is one of the things in
02:16life that can touch you wherever you are doesn't matter if we believe the same
02:21thing it doesn't matter if we're the same color if we come from the same
02:24culture the same neighborhood if we live 10,000 miles away from each other in
02:28different parts of the world life is life emotion is emotion pain is pain and
02:32love is love and if you are living those are things that you will experience at
02:38some point in your life and it doesn't matter what side of the tracks you come
02:41from and so that's what tired is about when R Kelly spoke to me about what I
02:46was going to do with the next musical part of my career he said I don't know
02:51what it is I just keep hearing you sing this phrase I'm tired I'm tired he said
02:57you need to talk about your life I know you've done it before but you need to hit
03:01it you need to hit it hard you need to be specific get grimy if you have to tell
03:05it it doesn't matter if somebody's gonna be mad he said just tell the truth he said
03:08because the things that you're tired of everybody else is tired of too he said
03:12if you tell it and if you tell the truth people will hear it they will sing along
03:16same girl productions is literally it is where the Kelly album is housed along with
03:22my block records my music partner in this venture is Warren Campbell he is
03:27someone who I've worked with many times down through the years as a producer on
03:30former projects with Def Jam Records and so Warren said to me would you ever
03:35consider you know doing this project with me and I didn't hesitate I said of
03:40course I would I absolutely would and so we started talking about it we started
03:45hammering it out got it all together and there was the formulation of the combo
03:50company same girl in my block but same girl productions actually had been in
03:54existence since 2004 I just had never released anything under it and this was
04:00the perfect time
