00:00Hello everyone. Welcome to another edition of Shake Your Beauty. I'm Tia Williams,
00:10beauty editor here at Essence.com and I have an amazing celebrity makeup artist here with
00:14us today, Mimi Kamara. Hello everyone. Mimi has worked with Dr. Maya Angelou, Morris Chestnut,
00:21who we adore. Me too. And our very own editor-at-large, Mickey Taylor. And so today what we're
00:28going to do is talk about amazing summer makeup shades for dark skinned women. So we have
00:33a great model here, Asia. Hi, Asia. Hi, Tia. So Mimi, why don't you kind of walk me through
00:38what you plan on doing with Asia today? For today with Asia, I want to kind of do a fun,
00:43flirty, strong blue that's still a little bit on the royal side. I definitely want to play up her
00:48cheeks. I want to put a little bit of color on her lips but still keep them soft. But I want her eyes
00:54and the cheeks to kind of take center stage and be the main attraction. Sounds gorgeous. Okay,
00:58so we're going to let you get to work. I can't wait to see what you end up doing. Here we go.
01:28So we're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work.
01:32We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work.
01:34We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work.
01:36We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work.
01:38We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work. We're going to let you get to work.
01:40And we're back, and Asia looks amazing.
02:10You have this beautiful peacock blue moment going on.
02:13Mimi, what did you do?
02:14Well, I started first with her eyes, and I'm really big on layering.
02:18So I started with a pencil called Hyacinth.
02:21It's a really pretty bright blue and just kind of started rimming the bottom of her eye.
02:26Then I just sloppily smudged it on her eyelid as kind of my eyeshadow base.
02:30Then I went in with an eyeshadow called Freshwater, just really pressing it with a firm, flat brush.
02:36And then, just to give it a little bit of depth, I went in right in the corner here with an eyeshadow called Plumage.
02:43It's a great deep matte shadow that'll pick up anything that's more frosty and bright.
02:48Then from there, just to give it an extra little zhuzh and pop, I did steamy eyeshadow in the corner of her eyes.
02:55Then I headed straight to her cheek.
02:56I did Peace Blush by Iman and just kind of swept it in a circular motion and cheated a little and brought it up to the temples.
03:04For her lips, I did Posh It Up Lip Glass by MAC and just had her press a few times to kind of diffuse the color so it wasn't so bright.
03:13It's amazing.
03:14You have this multidimensional look, and it really didn't take that many steps.
03:17Yeah, it's not so scary once you kind of take your time.
03:20It's really all about placement and using one thing for a number of things, such as an eyeliner as your eyeshadow base.
03:28Right, right.
03:29Well, Asia, you look completely amazing.
03:31Do you love it?
03:32I do.
03:32I love it.
03:34It's like a peacock moment.
03:35Yeah, I like that.
03:37Mimi, thank you so much.
03:38Thank you, and thank you.
03:40And we'll see you next time on another episode of Shake Your Beauty.
03:43Bye.
03:43Bye.
03:44Bye.
