00:00Hi, I'm Amy McCarmore, president and founder of the Tiger Lily Foundation.
00:04Our mission is to educate, advocate for, and empower young women before, during, and after
00:08breast cancer, and to end disparities of age, stage, and color. When I found out I had breast
00:13cancer, I was 31 years old, and I was stunned. I didn't know anybody who looked like me who had
00:19breast cancer, who was my age or my color. I learned I had triple negative breast cancer,
00:25which is the most deadly kind of breast cancer that Black women tend to have,
00:28and there's still no cure for that kind of breast cancer. And so I wondered how to help others
00:33going through this disease, and how to survive and thrive living during and after breast cancer.
00:40I ask you guys to please be your own best advocate. I want you all to know your body,
00:45know your health history, and be your own best advocate. You have to go to your doctor's offices
00:51armed with information. You have to speak your piece. You have to ask for second opinion.
00:58You have to push until you have the right answer. You know your body better than anyone else.
01:03And so I implore you all to become part of our army of angels, because you are living angels on
01:10this earth, to own your outcome, know your best health, know your best health outcomes,
01:15be empowered, and be your own best advocates. Learn more about us and how to help us and join our army
01:22of angels at www.tigerlilyfoundation.org. Thank you.
