Buju tells Entertainment Director Cori Murray the story of when he met Bob Marley as a child.

00:00I used to be on the roundabout too, and I used to say orange is in the back on the roundabout

00:11and people, you know, need to take my shit and don't pay me.

00:15So she took me on the roundabout and had me beside the star.

00:19And one particular day, this blue car turned up and there was nothing but some dreads in it.

00:26And one of them, who was in the driver's side, looked out and said, Mother, give me a pack of Cravenie.

00:33And she said, oh, you can't tell us what you're talking about.

00:36And I run across the road and look at the pack of Cravenie.

00:39And by the time I should give him the Cravenie and turn around, you couldn't see the car anymore.

00:43People from all over Jamaica just don't want to care, and I was just standing up and look at the drug.

00:50Next time I remember, I was coming from school, and I walked across an open space like it was an open land.

00:56Cows was on it. And I walked across.

01:00But that day was just so, the energy of the day was just, my energy that day was just so fucked up.

01:07I didn't know what day was going on, but I went home, and my mother sent me to the shop.

01:13When I went to the shop, I had to come down the lane, and go to the main road, and then go up to go into the shop.

01:19But the shop had a window on the lane, that people normally stop at the window and order, instead of going around to the main.

01:26And when I was passing, I saw the dread on the television, which you were not sitting beside me.

01:33And I stand up, and I wash through this grill, and forget all of my mother sent me for, until me, she had gone and went up and left and said,

01:39Bojo, I'm not sending you out.

01:42So I said, my mother saved me.

01:45She said, yes, I'm dead.

01:47I'm going to just get sad in my system, you know.

01:50I'm going to just leave the house, because in those days, my mother turned on her TV at 7 o'clock in the evening.

01:55Only for me. She don't care.

01:58And I walked back down to the lane, and I stood there, and I watched the grill that mess.

02:03And I saw the helicopter flying overhead in the Jamaica.

02:06And I said, why are you watching the grill?

02:08That was my encounter with the gun, you know.
