00:00Your Honor, James St. Patrick was a monster of untold proportion.
00:05Baby, your father, he was a complicated man.
00:17You're a power OG, so there are certain characters that are no longer there,
00:21but it still feels like power to us fans.
00:24How has the set kind of changed and dynamic, and what is the new set like?
00:30You know, it has changed.
00:32Obviously, you know, many people who started with us, it was myself, Omari Hardwick,
00:37and Tommy, who may, he's still alive, he may circle back around.
00:43But, you know, obviously, not having my leading man, who is also, you know, a good friend,
00:48Omari, playing Ghost, it definitely shifted, I think, things.
00:53But the energy has always been good.
00:54And, you know, Michael Rainey stepped up as Tariq, and, you know, we built him and kind
01:00of helped support him through this journey.
01:02And now he's killing it as one of the leads here, is leading this show as Ghost.
01:07You know, and I think that what we've done is try to create a family atmosphere.
01:14So even when people die, you know, obviously, Dre, who's with Timmy, we've got Omari, we've got Lala,
01:22who's my friend, who I had to kill, sorry, Lala.
01:26But, you know, it's just a lot of death.
01:30And it's been hard.
01:31So the energy is different, because we miss each other, right?
01:34But we still talk and support each other.
01:36Omari's like, how's it going, sis?
01:38And Lala's doing her thing, and very supportive.
01:41So I think the energy is just now, how do we maintain that morale with a new group?
01:46We brought in Mary J, and Method Man, and some of the new energy.
01:50It's awesome.
01:52Method Man is such a beast.
01:53He came so ready to work and prepare.
01:56Mary is killing it.
01:57And so I think that when you put that all together, people step into our household and say, oh, there's a family dynamic here.
02:03So it's a good vibe on set.
02:05Tariq, get your mom to tell the truth.
02:08The students here, all they do is party and study.
02:11We can make a killer here.
02:12I don't even know you.
02:13I can't trust you.
02:15She needs to come home.
02:16It's really interesting how your journey is paralleling Ghost, because he always had that fight between good and evil, trying to run the straight and narrow, but then the life bringing him back.
02:28And now you're experiencing kind of the same thing with school and getting your mom out of jail, just like all of that to deal with.
02:36But then being now lead, is there anything that you kind of took from Omari of how he kind of led the story and the set?
02:45What were some things that you borrowed from him and his technique?
02:48One thing I definitely took from his character is like, you know, he has like those switches.
02:55You know, like when he's working with someone that has something to do with the club, you know, like business.
03:00He's cordial, preppy, you know, those type of things.
03:03And then he gets into the streets and he has to, you know, get gritty with someone, you know, like those type of things, you know, switching up the dynamic between different situations.
03:11Like that's one thing I wanted to, you know, really make sure that I tackled when I started this.
03:18So that was definitely one of the biggest things I wanted to, you know, really focus on.
03:23And you were definitely seamless with it.
03:26And you guys didn't skip a beat.
03:28Like you, all power fans and new people, they're definitely going to enjoy Ghost Power Book 2.
03:33Last question, we've seen you grow up on this show.
03:37And I feel like closing out of last season, you were kind of becoming the character that you are now.
03:42But up until then, we just saw you as like this knuckleheaded kid that's getting in the way.
03:46Somebody that people kind of love to rag on.
03:49But now that you are lead, like you are the lead of this series now.
03:53How do you see the audience kind of going more so on your side and being receptive to Tariq now?
04:01Well, now, like as far as, you know, Tariq is being the center of the show is definitely they get to see, you know, more of the reasoning behind of all of his actions before, you know, like.
04:11I mean, obviously, some of the reasoning is pretty obvious, you know, dad left the family, you know, it's bound to, you know, kids bound to, you know, kind of act out.
04:19But I mean, I'm definitely excited for the people to see the new Tariq because now he's kind of like forced to, you know, grow up and be like a man at a young age.
04:29You know, he's in school, he's also, you know, he has to focus on getting good grades to get the will.
04:35And then he has to focus on getting money to get a lawyer for mommy.
04:38So he's in the streets trying to make it happen, taking care of Yasmin, taking care of grandma.
04:43So, like, he has a whole lot of different responsibilities and now he has to make certain decisions.
04:48And now he's not just acting off of, you know, being upset at dad, not acting, not acting off of being upset at the family anymore.
04:54But now he's making decisions for the best of them. So I feel like once, you know, when you have a decision to make and you make the right decision, it's hard for people not to respect that.
