00:00The ancestors never left you.
00:18As a black woman addressing the colorism issue head on, what does that mean for you?
00:24Yeah, it's so funny because I feel like socially there's a conversation and then within myself, there's a complete other conversation.
00:33I just think brown skin, black skin, dark skin is so beautiful.
00:39Like I just see the divinity in it, like it's gorgeous, you know, and so taking a deep breath.
00:47Like, so, you know, it was meant, you know, this was meant to be an affirmation of that, you know.
00:53And that's the intention of it, to be an affirmation of this, you know.
00:58And, you know, when you're trying to make work that wants to contribute in a positive way, I consciously try to drown out all the extraness.
01:13You know, that is not so, that is not so positive.
01:16My focus is always, how do we get to represent people in a human way, in a full way?
01:24You know, these are women, you know, irrespective of the complexion for a moment.
01:29These are women, you know, women are so multidimensional.
01:33There is a full person under the cloak of a color, right?
01:37Right.
01:38And it's about how do we allow that to shine through?
01:41And how do we see different versions of that?
01:50Bye.
