00:00West Brom's season has taken a worrying turn
00:05and what once looked like a championship campaign
00:07with potential has instead become a dogfight
00:11to avoid relegation
00:12At the Hawthorne's results have gone from inconsistent to alarming
00:17A recent 3-0 defeat at Portsmouth
00:19extended the club's winless run at a new boss, Eric Ramsey
00:22leaving Albion just three points above the drop zone
00:25and seven matches without victory
00:27Was it a lack of quality out there or a lack of fight and desire
00:32or maybe even a combination of both?
00:34We had real intent to make sure that we didn't feed the crowd
00:37in the opening stages and we knew how it would feel here
00:39it's a heavy atmosphere there
00:41connection with the crowd at this point is good
00:43they're in a really good rhythm
00:43it's obviously a tough place to come and play
00:46and we wanted to make sure that we didn't add to their momentum
00:50and we took it away and we dampened it
00:51but that wasn't the case in the opening stages
00:53of course we fed it through not being competitive enough
00:57in some of the fundamental things in the middle of the pitch
01:00not just the midfield players
01:02but the team as a whole
01:04and obviously lacked real quality on the ball
01:06when moments arose to take this thing out of the game
01:09and show some composure
01:10so on a couple of levels it was really disappointing
01:13and we've got to hope that
01:14The baggies have struggled to put consistent performances together all season
01:19goals have been hard to come by
01:21and defensive lapses frequent
01:23and the inability to find solutions in tight games
01:27has become a recurring theme
01:29Captain Jed Wallace has openly admitted
01:31the squad needs to wise up quickly
01:33and take greater accountability for individual and collective errors
01:38It wasn't meant to be like this
01:41earlier optimism under Ryan Mason
01:43for a push at the table
01:44but poor away form
01:46including seven straight road defeats
01:48exposed deeper issues in mentality
01:50and game management
01:51I knew the situation that I was arriving into
01:55I knew that it was of course
01:57a situation that was going to need real positivity
02:00and the group was going to need some real help
02:03and I've set about doing that
02:06in the way that I feel is most appropriate
02:08and of course I'm really disappointed
02:09that four games in
02:10we haven't had a big uplift
02:12in terms of performance nor results
02:14and now we're faced with a new reality
02:16that I have to make sure that I deal with well
02:18and the staff deal with well
02:19and the players deal with well
02:20and you can do only one thing in these situations
02:23you can control what you can control
02:25you can try to find solutions
02:27in the way that you see fit
02:28you can look inward first and foremost me
02:31but then the group and the individuals
02:33that are comprised there
02:34and we make sure that we go through
02:35the process of getting better
02:36I think the second you start to wander too far from that
02:39then it's a really difficult situation
02:40For a new manager stepping in
02:43the message is clear
02:44this isn't a mid-table season
02:46West Brom are in a relegation fight
02:48and reversing a slide looks long term
02:51will mean tough decisions
02:53sharper performances
02:54and a reset in confidence
02:56and quickly
02:58stay
02:58and then the next day
03:00I'll be talking to you
03:00next day
03:01Let's do this
03:02I'll be talking to you
