00:00U.S. President Donald Trump is calling on the House to end the partial government shutdown,
00:05but progress appears stalled. Democrats are demanding immigration reforms as part of any
00:11funding deal to reopen the government. Trump's immigration enforcement operations have sparked
00:16outrage after two citizens were fatally shot in Minnesota. And according to an analyst,
00:22this is hurting Republican support. You know, America was with Trump when he said he wanted
00:32to deport the worst of the worst. I mean, almost all Americans say, yes, if somebody's a criminal,
00:38particularly a violent criminal, send them home, get them out of our country. Everybody agrees with
00:43that. But they seem to have morphed from the worst of the worst to anybody who was ever illegal in
00:51the United States, even if they came here 20 years ago and have been, you know, working illegally ever
00:58since then. It's still illegal, but it is not a lot of people don't think it's worth the aggressive
01:06tactics. In other words, treating everybody like they were a gang member or everybody like they
01:11were a drug dealer is just not, you know, it's just seems a little bit out of proportion. And I think
01:18that's where they're losing the public right now. And if I were them, I, you know, get myself out of
01:25this as quickly as possible. And with the midterms approaching, she said scenes of violent immigration
01:31arrests and street protests pose political risk for Republicans. So again, because of that issue is
01:39that issue is playing against the Republicans right now, and may carry over until November.
01:48But of course, you know, remember, memories are short in politics. So who knows if it'll be a live
01:54issue in October or November, if they pull back, pull back ice and pull back this sort of radical
02:01deportation plan. By the time you we get to October or November, it may not be an issue anymore. And I
02:10think that that's what they're realizing.
