00:10and Mission Impossible Fallout star discussed the Me Too movement before moving on to flirting,
00:16where he suggested that he was reluctant to approach women for fear of getting accused
00:21of sexual assault. When the magazine asked the actor how the revelations out of Hollywood had
00:26and made him reflect on his own behavior, he turned to flirting, saying that while stuff had to change
00:31with regard to men's behavior, it was also important to retain the good things, which were a quality
00:36of the past, and get rid of the bad things. Cavill said he believed in the traditional approach
00:41to dating in which women are wooed and chaste, and went on to talk about his hesitancy to approach
00:46women in the current climate. He continued,
00:56I'm going to be called a rapist or something. Cavill added,
00:58So you're like, forget it. I'm going to call an ex-girlfriend instead and then just go back
01:03to a relationship which never really worked. But it's way safer than casting myself into the fires
01:08of hell because I'm someone in the public eye. And if I go and flirt with someone, then who knows
01:13what's going to happen. After those comments were met with backlash, Cavill's rep issued a statement
01:18to The Hollywood Reporter, in which the actor said he wanted to apologize for any confusion
01:23and misunderstanding that his comments may have caused. Cavill said in his Thursday statement,
