00:00Let's get the Big 12 basketball. It's Kansas. It's Texas Tech. Live from Texas Tech in Lubbock
00:05tonight. The opening line here at the FanDuel Sportsbook was a three and a half point number,
00:09Joe, but across the landscape now, I'm seeing four and a halves all the way across the board
00:13and a total that's continued to rise, Joe. Some outlets opened as low as 150 and a half. I'm now
00:18seeing 154 and a half. The one thing I know is Texas Tech has a really good offense. They are
00:22unbelievable at shooting the three-point shot at close to 42% in conference play going up against
00:28a team that will let you shoot the three-point shot. Texas Tech, the favorite. Kansas comes to
00:33town, Joe. What are you feeling on the spread line here? Yeah, this is a, well, obviously we just
00:38talked about Kansas and Darren Peterson. Willie or Wonie, shocker. He's questionable for this game
00:43here. Both of these teams, ironically enough, have lost to UCF this season here. Texas Tech on Saturday
00:51after that big win at home against Houston, what did they do? They fly to Orlando and get
00:57smacked by UCF. Now they got to come home and 48 hours later, they got to take on Kansas, who,
01:04by the way, is 0-2 against Grant McCaskillan ever since he arrived in Lubbock. So this is going to be
01:11an interesting game, Donnie. Is he playing or is he not playing? They are clearly a different team with
01:17him on the court than off the court. But either way, it feels like the decision that we're going to see
01:24them anyway come March. So why, why stretch ourselves out now? We'll just see you come
01:30March and we'll have our full complement of players. It's going to be interesting to see
01:34how this one ends up tonight. ACC action. Syracuse travels down to take on UNC. And if we take a look
01:41at this game, Joe, overnight seeing those nine and a half in the opening of the marketplace,
01:45but now we're seeing 11 and a half and even 12 and a half across the board as a favor towards
01:50North Carolina. The total of this game also on the rise, 152 and a half or so, multiple outlets
01:55overnight. Now we're seeing 156 and a half. The one thing, if you're looking for a total, what do you
01:59like? UNC, great, efficient offense in ACC play, but also a terrible defense. Do we get points in this
02:05game? Is it a two touchdown cover for North Carolina here, Joe? What's your spread line?
02:09Well, first of all, I hope at some point in the future, this game actually means something again,
02:15because right now it's just depressing. Syracuse is awful. North Carolina is a shell of themselves
02:21here. And it's two blue bloods that, well, they aren't blue bloods anymore here at this point. They're
02:26just not very good. But usually what that means is points, Donnie, right? Because the market,
02:32when this opened up at 152, 152 and a half, it was as high as 158 last night, Donnie.
02:39And now it's gotten bet back, settled in at that 156 and a half. The prevailing thought
02:44is forget about laying the points here with 11, 11 and a half points in North Carolina.
02:50Just expect a ton of points, which is exactly what the market is doing.
02:54How about this one in the Southland, man? Big time battle. McNeese State going to take
02:58on Stephen F. Austin. If you don't understand what this means in the Southland, it's the number
03:03one most efficient offense going against the number one most efficient defense. And if we flip
03:07it to the other side of the court, the number two most efficient offense versus the number
03:11two most efficient defense. An even up game. And that's why we're sitting here, Joe, at
03:15a minus one and a half point favorite for the road team here. McNeese State in a total
03:18of 141 and a half. Two really evenly matched teams getting after it and knock a docious Texas
03:24tonight. What's that spread line? Well, and the Southland, McNeese State was everybody's darling
03:30to run away with this conference to start the season, but not so fast, said Stephen F. Austin
03:35and Matt Brewer, the new head coach. They had this game, Donnie, four weeks ago at McNeese State,
03:42and they were lucky to escape with a two point win. Now Stephen F. Austin gets them on their home
03:49court. And this is an opportunity for them to put a stamp here on their arrival to the Southland.
03:55This is going to be a fun one here. And I can tell you, we'll see who wins this game. If McNeese
04:00wins it, well, they can take a two game lead in the standings here. But if Stephen F. Austin gets it
04:07done at home, look out. There could be a new sheriff in town on the Southland conference.
04:13College basketball heating up. We just talked a little Olympic action. We talked Super Bowl action. Of
04:17course we do. And also the March as we head towards March Madness. It's February, the end of the month.
04:22You're going to have conference tournaments here. And then as you get into March, some of the most
04:26fun action you're going to see right up to the final four in early April that you can find.
04:30And maybe the Northeast will be above 22 degrees by the time we get to that point. But you know who's
04:35not having problems with their heat and getting the ready for basketball season? It's Arizona.
04:4122 wins on the season. How many losses, Joe Ranieri? Yeah, it's zero. They haven't lost yet.
04:47Saturday, beat down their state component here. Arizona State, 87-84, 22-0, 9-0 in the Big 12.
04:55Arizona, they just can't lose.
04:58Their team is stacked, Donnie. Make no mistake about it. Now listen, it's kind of hard to run the
05:04table. So if I'm Arizona, you're going to trip up at some point. It's inevitable. I would rather trip
05:11up sooner rather than later because the later it gets, the crazier it gets. But it should be a heck
05:17of a Big 12 conference tournament as well, Donnie. So a lot still to be determined. But without a doubt,
05:24this is going to be one of your number one seeds come March Madness. So get ready for it. This team's
05:30got it all. Head over to the SEC yesterday. Boy, if you watched it, Florida, 100 points as they down
05:38Alabama 100-77. Condon had 25.7 rebounds and six assists. You know what else I enjoyed in this game?
05:44Bidiaka was at the line and they chanted, G League dropout. Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. You had it all
05:50yesterday in the SEC from Florida. Well, I loved it. You had Golden all week saying, I don't care how many
05:55NBA players they have in a team. We're still going to smack them down. And that's exactly what they
06:00did. Not only did they smack them down, they dropped 100 on Alabama. So yeah, keep getting
06:07those G League players. Let me know how that works out for you, Bama. Yeah, keep on rolling them up
06:12here. I mean, how many judges you can have if it's not pretty light. Also, he's going to be unfair
06:17here. Don't look too unfair to me at this point for Nate Oates and the boys here at Alabama. Let's also
06:21take a look at those national championship odds because we do have teams, as we said, Joe,
06:2522-0 at the top of those standings here. And Arizona is a plus 440 favorite to cut down the
06:31nets followed by Michigan, Duke, Houston, Florida, and Illinois. Yeah, that's good. Illinois, big win
06:38on the road against Nebraska yesterday. But Michigan's win Friday night against Michigan State was very
06:45impressive. On the road, hostile environment, and they made it look easy, Michigan. So I wouldn't be
06:51sleeping on them anytime soon either. How about this? Now, undefeated, not just reserved for the
06:57men's side of the bracket. How about UConn? 23-0. And by the way, they just won their 39th straight
07:02basketball game in resounding fashion over Tennessee, 96-66. This game was quite close for
07:09some time, but second half, UConn just blew the doors off Tennessee. The worst beating Tennessee has
07:14taken from UConn. Yeah, shocker, right? Oh, wait, UConn winning games, a lot of them in a row?
07:21Women's basketball, really? Shocker. Yeah, some things don't change, Donnie. They went for like
07:26a two-year period there where it was like, oh boy, well, Gino, are they going to make it? Yeah,
07:31no, they're fine. They're absolutely fine. And they're going to be the favorites again.
07:36You know, it used to be great, Joe, growing up and you watch the Big East and say, man,
07:39Syracuse is a really good basketball team here. Ronnie cycling the boys out there right
07:43through to Lawrence Moten and Carmelo Anthony and battling for championships and Jim Boeheim
07:47and the stretch zone that they have. And now Syracuse is just an afterthought at this point
07:51as they're double-digit underdogs to take on North Carolina in North Carolina with a total of 156.5.
07:58Syracuse, the name used to mean something, Joe. Yeah, it did. Well, you know what? Both these teams,
08:04for that matter, Donnie, I mean, Syracuse is in rough shape, likely going to have a regime change
08:09there again. Red Orchard just not getting it done there in Syracuse. But, you know, listen,
08:15North Carolina has got a lot of proving to do, too, here, because it hasn't exactly been great for
08:20them. And they've got a couple of first-rounders going in the NBA draft on that team. So hopefully
08:26North Carolina at home holds serve here tonight. But something's got to change with Syracuse, man.
08:32I mean, just not a good situation right now. Certainly not. Kansas and Texas Tech going to do battle
08:38tonight in the Big 12 from United Supermarkets Arena, Joe. A four-and-a-half-point favorite
08:43right now for Texas Tech at home taking on Kansas. The question, who's going to play for Kansas at
08:48this point? But the one thing I do know, Texas Tech can shoot the three, close to 42% in league play
08:53as a team. The best in the conference. Yeah, you know, and then you got to think, all right,
08:58we're going to get a little regression there. I mean, Donnie, they got beat wire to wire by UCF
09:03in Orlando over the weekend. So to me, I think it's all about whether Peterson plays. So if you
09:09think he does, take the points for Kansas now. If you think he doesn't, you better hurry up because
09:14that line's going up towards Texas Tech before the start. Yeah, one of those NBA-type numbers,
09:20right? You got to wait to see who's actually playing in this game because that spread could
09:23change drastically at this point right now. Kansas, Texas Tech, good game here as we march on
09:28to March, man. This is right here on the Sports Grid Network. Let them know, Joe, college, NHL,
09:41NBA. Where are you going for that action tonight on the best bet? Well, Donnie, we're going to go
09:45to North Carolina, taking on Syracuse in college hoops here tonight. And listen, North Carolina's on a
09:52little bit of a roll. They made a change at point guard. They put in the freshman Derek Dixon after
09:58they lost to Stanford. And all they've done is rattle off three straight wins and looked really,
10:04really good doing it. Syracuse, we mentioned their best player, Freeman, has been unavailable
10:10more often than not here with injuries. This is not a terribly good Syracuse-Orange team from
10:19offensively, Donnie. And this total has been bet out of range, man. I mean, 157 and a half.
10:26I don't think so. I think the Orange would be lucky to get to 70. I think the under is now the play.
