00:00Newly released documents from the Department of Justice provide additional details about
00:03Jeffrey Epstein's estate planning in the days before his death. According to the latest tranche
00:07of Epstein Files, the financier signed his will on August 8, 2019, just two days before he died
00:13while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. The will outlined plans to distribute
00:17a fortune valued at approximately $288 million to more than 44 beneficiaries. Among the largest
00:24intended recipients was Epstein's girlfriend, Karina Shuliak, who was listed in the document
00:28as being from Belarus. The will stated that Shuliak was to receive $50 million, a 33-carat diamond ring
00:34described as being given in Contemplation of Marriage, Epstein's Little St. James Island,
00:38and his New York City townhouse. The document also listed additional properties in Paris and Florida
00:43intended for Shuliak. Public reporting indicates she may have been in a relationship with Epstein
00:47for nearly a decade. The files further state that Epstein paid for medical treatment for Shuliak's
00:51mother and may have contributed to funding an upscale residence where her parents lived in Minsk,
00:55Belarus. The diamond ring referenced in the will was described as being mounted in platinum and
01:00flanked by baguette-cut diamonds. Epstein's attorney, Darren Indyke, signed the will eight
01:04days after Epstein's death. Under its terms, Indyke was set to receive $50 million, while Epstein's
01:10longtime accountant, Richard Kamm, was named to receive $25 million. Other beneficiaries listed in
01:15the will included Epstein's brother, Mark Epstein, his pilot, Larry Vysosky, and longtime associate
01:20Ghislaine Maxwell, who was allocated $10 million. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year federal
01:25prison sentence following her conviction for sex trafficking. Despite the will's provisions,
01:30Epstein's estate was ultimately transferred into a trust. Court filings show the trust has been used
01:34to compensate victims, pay taxes, and cover legal fees. Financial records indicate approximately
01:39$127 million remains after those payments. The files also note that Shuliak was the last known
01:44person to speak with Epstein by phone before his death on August 10, 2019. She had visited him at
01:49the Metropolitan Correctional Center 11 days earlier. The Department of Justice released
