00:00A controversial art installation briefly appeared near the National Mall in Washington, D.C.,
00:04drawing attention and debate online and in political circles.
00:07The structure, about 12 feet tall and made of bronze, depicts Donald Trump alongside
00:11disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
00:13The statue recreates a famous moment from the 1997 film Titanic.
00:17In the sculpture, a figure resembling Epstein stands at the front with his arms stretched
00:21outward while a figure representing Trump stands behind him holding his hands.
00:24The pose mirrors the well-known scene from the movie where the characters Jack and Rose
00:28stand at the bow of the ship.
00:30The installation is titled King of the World, referencing the iconic line shouted by Jack
00:34during that scene in Titanic.
00:36A plaque placed at the base of the statue offers a satirical explanation, comparing the fictional
00:40love story from the film to what the creators described as a bond between Trump and Epstein.
00:46Around the statue, several banners were also displayed featuring photos of the two men
00:50together alongside the phrase, Make America Safe Again.
00:54The installation was created by a group called Secret Handshake.
00:57In comments to local media outlet WUSA 9, the group said the piece was meant as a response
01:02to the large banners of Trump that have appeared on federal buildings in Washington during 2026.
01:07According to the group, the artwork was intended as political commentary tied to what they
01:11described as a banner year for the president.
01:14This is not the first time the organization has placed a similar installation in the area.
01:18Last year, another statue referencing Trump and Epstein briefly appeared on the National
01:22Mall before being removed shortly afterward.
01:24Reports indicate the latest sculpture is expected to remain on display until March 13.
01:29The installation also arrives amid renewed attention to documents connected to the Epstein investigation.
01:34Recently released records from the U.S. Department of Justice referenced Trump in connection
01:38with past interviews conducted by the FBI.
01:41Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein, authorities have not charged
01:45him with any crime, and he has never been named as the subject of a criminal investigation
01:48connected to the case.
