00:00In Venezuela, acting President Dezio Rodriguez announced the first treatment of
00:15requefied petroleum gas and milestone in the national hydrocarbon industry.
00:20The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees has issued a stark warning
00:28about escalating Israeli balance in the Occupied West Bank, describing it as a solid war.
00:37And eight members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and Independent Suppliers
00:41maintain their decision not to increase oil production for the month of March.
00:51Hello, welcome to From the South.
00:52I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Edelecu Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:55We begin with the news.
01:09Venezuela's acting President Dezio Rodriguez announced the export of the country's first
01:14gas molecule, positioning the nation as an emerging power in this field.
01:17The acting President announced the departure of the Crystal Piggy Lady ship with the first
01:23shipment of liquefied petroleum gas, affirming that this milestone was achieved together
01:27with the working class for the welfare of the Venezuelan people.
01:31Previously, on January 16th, the acting President had reported during the National Council of
01:35Productive Economy that for the first time in its history, Venezuela had signed a contract
01:40for the commercialization of liquefied petroleum gas, a step that positions Venezuela as an emerging
01:45power in this field beyond oil.
01:47It was also highlighted that this export represents the efforts of the national hydrocarbon industry
01:53to continue the sustained increase in its sovereign production.
02:01The government of Cuba ratified its condemnation of all forms of terrorism while reaffirming
02:06its commitment to the fight against money laundering in the region.
02:10In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Caribbean nation expressed, Cuba
02:14condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, while reaffirming its commitment to cooperate
02:20with the United States and other nations to strengthen regional and international security.
02:25The statement follows, Cuba categorically declares that it does not host, support, finance,
02:30or allow terrorist or extremist organizations.
02:33Our country maintains a policy of zero tolerance towards the financing of terrorism and money laundering
02:38and is committed to the prevention, detection, and confrontation of illegal financial activities,
02:43in accordance with international standards.
02:45The entity also emphasized that any past interactions involving individuals subsequently designated
02:51as service occur solely in limited humanitarian contexts linked to international recognized peace
02:57processes at the request of their respective governments in a fully transparent manner.
03:02At the end of its proclamation, the foreign ministry states that the Cuban people
03:05and the U.S. people benefit from constructive engagement, cooperation in accordance
03:10with the law, and peaceful coexistence.
03:12Cuba reaffirms its willingness to maintain a respectful and reciprocal dialogue geared toward
03:17tangible results with the government of the United States, based on mutual interests
03:21and international law.
03:22And in Mexico, a demonstration was held to denounce the intensification of the U.S.
03:33blockade against Cuba aimed at preventing oil from breaching the island, a situation that could
03:38lead to a crisis in public and essential services.
03:41Antonio Aranda with the details.
03:45Various pro-Cuba activist organizations held a political and cultural event in the former
03:50United States Embassy in Mexico to demand lifting of the economic and oil blockade against
03:54the island.
03:55The thousands of things that happen in the history of this world make me feel like we're
04:01going in a absurdity.
04:04During the demonstration, activists warned that Donald Trump's efforts to impose tariff on
04:10countries that send oil to Cuba will provoke an unnecessary humanitarian crisis.
04:14It is a brutal blockade, which is why we are also telling our government that Mexican oil
04:23has to go to Cuba.
04:24We are talking about death, it is death.
04:28This is part of those warlike measures that strangle a dignified people like Cuba.
04:32And this obviously means they will not have access to electricity or many other essential services.
04:43The organization called the people of Mexico to maintain their stance of providing humanitarian
04:48aid as an act of national sovereignty.
04:51We are urging the Mexican government to maintain this support.
04:55We know the pressures are many, but as our president has rightly said, a dignified woman, a brave woman,
05:01and sovereignty of our country comes first, and this relationship cannot be betrayed.
05:06Mexico comes first, its sovereignty, and as such, as a people and a sovereign nation,
05:11we will always stand firm.
05:13This is an act to show the Mexican government that we want support for Cuba to continue.
05:18They also propose that all levels of local and state governments speak out in favor of ATQ
05:27Cuba to ensure continuous support.
05:30Whether as humanitarian aid or in any way necessary, the important thing is not to stop not even
05:35for a second supporting this great revolution, which, the more it is attacked and opposed,
05:40continues to be more supportive of the peoples of the world.
05:43The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, recently stated that preventing oil for reaching Cuba could
05:52significantly impact base service for the Cuban people.
05:55She added that Mexico will seek alternatives to continue sending humanitarian aid.
05:59The imposition of tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba could trigger a large-scale humanitarian crisis,
06:08directly affecting hospitals and other basic services for the Cuban people.
06:13This situation must be avoided through respect for international law and dialogue between the parties.
06:19The President also stated that this humanitarian aid will consist primarily of food supplies.
06:28The Mexican activists stated that they will continue encouraging the shipping of oil to Cuba
06:35to prevent their crisis.

07:42who at the time of the preliminary results release had 38.13% of the votes, and Claudia Robles from Citizen Agenda
07:48of the coalition, who trails with 5.84%. This marks the second time in Costa Rica's 204 years' history
07:56that a woman has been elected president.
08:03And according to preliminary data from the Costa-Henriquean Supreme Electoral Tribunal,
08:07the sovereign and conservative Sovereign People's Party leads to the results of the legislative elections
08:11held on Sunday, with a significant advantage over its main contenders.
08:15With 90% of the ballots counted, the Sovereign People's Party has obtained 39.09% of the votes,
08:20which would allow it to obtain around three seats in the legislative assembly.
08:24In second place is the historic National Liberation Party, with 25.29% and 18 deputies,
08:30followed by the vote to obtain around three seats in the legislative assembly.
08:34In second place is the historic National Liberation Party, with 25.29% and 18 deputies,
08:41followed by the broad front with 15.72% of the votes.
08:45Further behind are the Citizen Agenda Coalition and the Christian Social Unity Party,
08:49with one deputy each.
08:50And reports revealed that Haiti is facing one of the most serious crises in its recent history,
09:04marked by territory controlled by armed groups, the collapse of governance and a deep humanitarian emergency.
09:09The escalation of violence is particularly severe in Port-au-Prince, the capital,
09:13where criminal armed groups control approximately 80% of the territory.
09:16As a result, millions of people face food insecurity, forced displacement and lack of access to basic services.
09:23The alarming situation has the United Nations and international aid agencies on high alert,
09:28although assistance efforts have been limited, mainly affecting Haitian families.
09:50Several fires devastated various areas of Los Alerses National Park in Argentine, Patagonia,
09:56and Nesco World Heritage Site, home to 2,600-year-old trees.
10:01Several environmentalists described the fires as one of the worst to hit Argentina in decades,
10:06having already devastated more than 40,000 hectares.
10:09The crisis has reignited anger toward the country's president, Javier Mele,
10:14whose environmental policy over the past two years has drastically cut spending on a number of programs
10:19and agencies that protect national parks and prevent fires from starting and spreading.
10:31And Uruguayan President Yamandu Ursi is currently visiting China.
10:35Our correspondent, Bruno Falzi, is there with all the details.
10:38Greetings, comrades.
10:40I am in Beijing now to report to you that the president of Uruguay, Yamandu Ursi,
10:46have arrived in China to begin an official visit that will take place during this week.
10:53The agenda is centered in strengthening the bilateral bond and the political, economic, academic,
11:00and cultural cooperation in a global context of reconfiguring of international trade.
11:08The delegation that accompanied the president, Yamandu, included government authorities and a large business delegation,
11:17reflecting the strategic priority that Montevideo gives to the reconfiguration and the relationship with China,
11:26and its commitment to public-private collaboration.
11:30In this framework, the Uruguayan conseiller highlighted the historical nature of this visit.
11:39And let's listen now to his words.
11:42The visit of a Uruguayan president, accompanied by the largest number of business leaders in history, more than 60-65, marks part of this new reality.
11:54From very different sectors, including food security, agriculture, technology, and logistics.
12:11We believe that this public-private partnership, which will be evident in President Ursi's delegation to China,
12:18comprised of several state ministers, especially from the productive sector and including numerous directors of state agencies,
12:25will undoubtedly mark a significant leap forward in various areas during our time in Beijing and Shanghai.
12:33The political core of this visit will take place tomorrow with the meeting between Ursi and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping,
12:45followed by the signing of important agreements aimed at deepening different aspects of the bilateral relationship,
12:55including trade, agriculture, innovation, logistics, and science and technology.
13:03Furthermore, the President Ursi will meet with the Prime Minister Li Qiang and the President of the National People's Assembly, Zhao Leiji.
13:16China remains the main destination for Uruguayan exportations,
13:22concentrating more than a quarter of its external sales,
13:27with a key weight in products such as the sea beans, the meat, and the cellulose.

14:20The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees has issued a stark warning about escalating Israeli violence in the occupied West Bank,
14:31describing it as a silent war.
14:33Since October 2023, more than a thousand Palestinians have been killed in the occupied territory,
14:38with nearly a quarter of them, approximately 250 being children,
14:44according to UNWA Commissioner-General Philip Lazzarini.
14:47On Sunday, Lazzarini highlighted the unprecedented scale of the violence,
14:50which includes intensified killings, home demolitions, force displacements,
14:54and sediment expansions carried out by Israeli forces and settlers, escaping global scrutiny.
14:59In this context, UNWA also warned that Palestinian communities continue to face daily intimidation
15:04and the destruction of their livelihoods with impunity.
15:07Eight members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and Independent Suppliers
15:20maintained their decision not to increase oil production for the month of March.
15:25The decision was made by Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Algeria, Kuwait,
15:30Kazakhstan, and Oman, confirming their statement of November 2, 2025,
15:34to suspend the gradual increase in production in March 2026 due to seasonal fluctuations.
15:40These eight countries' members raised production quotas by about 2.9 million barrels per day
15:45from April through December 2025, roughly 3 percent of global demand.
15:50The Committee reaffirmed the crucial importance of ensuring full compliance
15:54and leveling of the updated compensation schedules.
15:57The U.S. Department of Justice has released an extensive foul on Jeffrey Epstein case,
16:08including disturbing testimony from alleged victims.
16:10Among the documents, one stand out allegation describes ritual sacrifices,
16:14the dismemberment of babies, and acts of cannibalism.
16:17One of the testimonies collected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation describes scenes of extreme violence
16:23and rituals involving physical assaults and inhumane practices.
16:27After these texts were published, social media linked this information to past allegations,
16:32such as those made in 2008 by Mexican model Gabriela Rico,
16:36who publicly accused international elites of practicing cannibalism.
16:40After this accusation, the Mexican model was never seen again.
16:51And the latest release of Epstein's files reveals also, in addition to unspeakable orders,
16:55this criminal's active involvement in crucial foreign policy issues.
17:00Geopolitics was a vital issue, which explains why his agenda of abuse and crimes
17:04includes the names of presidents, prime ministers, and royal family members.
17:08In one of the most striking emails recently published, Epstein has an exchange with businessman
17:13and political strategist Peter Thiel, where he exposes the plan of U.S. foreign policy.
17:19The premise is clear and quite similar to what is observed in the current administration of President Donald Trump.
17:24A divided world in permanent conflict is less able to challenge the United States.
17:29The finding also suggests that this is not a plan from the past,
17:32but one that continues to flow through sectors of the current political and economic elites,
17:37as an idea of controlled destabilization.
17:39In the United States, the 2026 Grammy Awards became a stage for protests,
17:50where renowned artists used their attire to send a powerful message.
18:07Several artists wore pins with the slogan, Ice Out, during the 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony.
18:12Figures like Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber, and Johnny Mitchell joined the initiative to raise awareness
18:17and protest the crimes committed by ICE against migrant populations.
18:21In this regard, producer Jack Antonoff stated that it is a good time for people to come together
18:26and seek a solution to the issue, given the abuses by the Trump administration against civilians.
18:31In this context, Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny stole the spotlight during the Grammy Awards,
18:40not only for his win in the Best Urban Album category, but also for his speech against ICE
18:45and the anti-immigrant policies in the United States.
18:48At the start of his speech, the singer said,
18:50The artist also acknowledged the tension and anger many Latino communities feel
19:06in response to the rhetoric of the U.S. administration,
19:09but he urged that this response should not come from hate,
19:13emphasizing that it must be built from another place, more specifically from love.
19:17Before I say thanks to God, I'm going to say, Ice Out.
19:47We're not savages, we're not animals, we're not aliens, we are humans and we are Americans.
20:07Like this, we have come to the end of this news brief, but before we close, we end with the song Cuba de Pie, Cuba's Standing,
20:20an anthem of resistance that highlights Cuba's national identity and sovereignty in the face of external pressures.
