Early in the morning, Negin and her brother take the sheep and goats to the forest for grazing. Along the way, they gather firewood from the forest, preparing fuel for cooking and baking traditional bread.
Back in the village, Sareh uses fresh cow’s milk to prepare dough for a traditional walnut-stuffed bread. For the filling, wheat flour is gently sautéed with local butter, cinnamon, ginger, and sugar, then mixed with crushed walnuts. The dough is filled by hand and baked using an ancient method on a saj pan covered with small hot stones, just as it has been done for generations.
Alongside the bread, a nourishing village dessert is prepared using figs and warm milk. Fresh milk is poured over dried figs and left to rest for several hours, creating a simple yet powerful traditional food.
Village life continues throughout the day:
