Saudi Arabia is publicly calling for restraint and regional calm as tensions with Iran escalate — but behind closed doors, a very different strategy appears to be unfolding. While Riyadh openly opposes U.S. military strikes, reports suggest it is quietly lobbying Washington to pressure Tehran and weaken the Iranian regime.

As Iran fumes over what it sees as betrayal, a powerful U.S.–Israel–Saudi alignment is emerging beneath the surface. The decades-long Saudi-Iranian cold war — fueled by religion, oil politics, and proxy conflicts in Yemen, Syria, and Iraq — is entering a dangerous new phase.

With Iranian-backed groups escalating attacks and Saudi cities still vulnerable, Riyadh is attempting a risky balancing act: public diplomacy, private pressure. The question is whether this double game can hold — or if the Middle East is heading toward another explosive confrontation.

00:00Are U.S. attacks on Iran beginning? Multiple explosions have been reported
00:24across Iran. Viral claims of drone strikes and rumors of an IRGC naval commander being
00:32assassinated have been circulating. But what's actually happening and what's just misinformation?
00:39Let's break down the facts behind today's explosions in Iran and separate verified reports
00:45from viral speculation. The first confirmed explosion hit Bandar Abbas, Iran's most important
00:53port city on the Persian Gulf. An eight-story residential and commercial building on Mualim
00:59Boulevard was rocked by a powerful blast, destroying two floors and damaging nearby shops and vehicles.
01:08Emergency crews rushed to the scene as smoke filled the area. Iranian media initially reported one
01:15death and at least 14 injuries, though casualty figures vary slightly. Authorities say the cause
01:22is under investigation, with early indications pointing to a possible gas leak, not a military
01:29strike. Soon after, social media exploded with claims that this was a U.S. or Israeli drone attack
01:37and that a senior IRGC Navy commander, Rear Admiral Ali Reza Tanqsiri, had been targeted.
01:45Iran's IRGC Navy issued a direct denial, stating,
01:49no drone attack occurred, no IRGC facilities were hit. These claims are completely false.
01:57They described the reports as psychological operations and misinformation. A separate explosion
02:04was also confirmed in Ahwaz, southwestern Iran. Officials say a gas leak in a residential building
02:11killed at least four people and injured others. Firefighters were deployed to clear debris and
02:17rescue trapped residents. Again, no link to military activity. Meanwhile, reports of explosions in
02:25Tehran, Tabriz, Karaj, Kashm and other cities flooded platforms like X. Iranian authorities say these claims
02:34are unverified, often based on old videos, fires or recycled footage. So far, only two incidents are confirmed.
02:43All of this is unfolding during high regional tension. The U.S. has deployed major naval assets to the region.
02:53Iran is conducting naval drills near the Strait of Hormuz. And rhetoric between Iran, the U.S. and Israel is heating up.
03:02Still, Israeli officials say they have no connection to today's incidents. Iran insists both explosions were accidental,
03:11not attacks. No verified evidence of airstrikes, missiles or drones. No confirmed assassinations and no signs
03:21yet of a broader military escalation. So the big question remains, are these isolated accidents or the
03:29beginning of something bigger?
