Wilhelm Canaris, head of Nazi Germany’s military intelligence, lived a double life. While he built spy networks for Hitler, he also aided resistance groups, warned foreign leaders, and secretly helped Jews escape. In April 1945, Hitler ordered Canaris executed by hanging on a meat hook. This film uncovers the rise, betrayal, and brutal end of one of history’s most enigmatic spymasters.

00:00In autumn 1940, Hitler conceived Operation Felix, a strike through Spain to seize Gibraltar and choke Britain's Mediterranean lifeline.
00:10Fluent in Spanish and respected by Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, Canaris was ordered to win Spanish support in the war.
00:18Instead, he wrote a detailed memo arguing why Operation Felix would fail, and quietly advised Franco that Hitler lacked forces to occupy Spain.

00:38Hitler later told the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini that he would rather have three teeth pulled than meet Franco again.
