00:00Anthony Guarhini has been sentenced for carrying out a cowardly and horrifying attack.
00:10He was a disqualified driver who got behind the wheel drunk and used his car as a weapon
00:14to deliberately mow down innocent people who were out enjoying the festivities on Christmas
00:19Day.
00:20His actions ended a young man's life and left others with devastating injuries and trauma.
00:25Our thoughts remained with Aidan Chapman's family and all those who were affected.
00:31Throughout the trial the defendant attempted to deny any intent but after careful consideration
00:35of the evidence presented by the prosecution the jury recognised that he set out that night
00:40to cause serious harm and destruction.
00:43His sentence reflects the full gravity of his offending.
00:47The court has recognised that he targeted some of the victims because of their race and sexuality
00:52and this has been reflected in the sentence he has received.
00:55No parent should have to go through the hellish trauma of losing a child.
00:59Words cannot describe the pain and anguish Anthony Guarhini has caused us by his evil actions.
01:05No amount of justice or prison time will ever be enough to compensate for our loss.
01:10Guarhini has taken the best part of us.
01:12He has left us with a dark void in our lives that can never be filled.

01:19Something we will never get over and something we will never forgive.
