00:00What are you hearing about Drake May and his situation with his shoulder?
00:05You hesitate to say it's nothing because you want to have respect for what they all go through.
00:09And they all go through a lot to make it through an NFL season.
00:13The people I've talked to say he'll be fine.
00:15You also don't want to minimize what it is that he's going through because it's not nothing.
00:20And he's on the injury report.
00:22Like I've just learned that you never want to treat these like they're nothing.
00:25Because when it comes to their throwing shoulder, their throwing elbow, their throwing wrist, all of that stuff is really, really important.
00:33And I think for those guys, the reason why some of those guys struggle in the playoffs is because they get knocked around so much during the season that it throws their mechanics off.
00:43And then when you get to the playoffs, when the windows are shorter, so you're throwing into smaller windows, there's less margin for error.
00:49Against better defenses, too.
00:50Now if your mechanics are a little off, your accuracy is a little off, and now all of a sudden that ball that looked great in September is 12 inches to the right.
01:00And instead of that being open space where it might have been in November, there's a defender there.
01:05Yes.
01:06And it's just at that level of football where the windows are that small.
01:11And now you're talking about the windows shrinking.
01:13Like, there's little stuff like that.
01:16And I think I remember hearing, like, and the Raiders are, again, the Raiders are using this.
01:21Like, I remember just talking to people about those sorts of things are really, really fascinating.
01:26And the idea, I mean, you think about it, like there have been a lot of more mobile quarterbacks where when you get to the playoffs, they aren't at quite the same level.
01:35And is that a factor?
01:36It could be.
01:36Well, and I think that goes with what Fred is saying, too.
01:38I'd be curious to just hear what you guys think about it, the sense of he's going to play in warmer weather, which is certainly going to help that.
01:45But a major league pitcher, a really good major league starting pitcher, some of the best will tell you that they make 30 starts a year.
01:52Ten of those starts, they feel like they're the best arm feeling in the world.
01:57Ten other starts, they feel like they can't even throw a strike because their arms are just, like, not with it today.
02:02And ten, they feel okay, and they work through it, and they grind through it.
02:05And that's the difference between winning 15 games, 20 games, or what have you.
02:09I just wonder where Drake's shoulder is going to be come game time at Super Bowl Sunday.
02:13And it's interesting you bring up the number, too, because this is their 21st game.
02:17Right.
02:17He's never played close to this long a season in his life, you know?
02:21So, like, there's that part of it, too.
02:23Thanks for joining us.
