00:00A senior armed forces officer pleaded not guilty at the Kuala Lumpur

00:05Sessions Court today to misappropriating RM5 million from the military.

00:10Fawzi Kamis, the Chief of Staff at the

00:15Armed Forces Joint Forces Headquarters, entered his plea after the charge was

00:20read before Judge Susannah Hussain.

00:23The charge, framed under Section 401

00:25of the Penal Code for Criminal Breach of Trust, provides for 2 to 20 years

00:30imprisonment, whipping, and a possible fine upon conviction.

00:35Fawzi was accused of misappropriating RM5 million from the Welfare Fund by

00:40investing it in Precious Amber International Burhad without approval from the Welfare Fund

00:45Committee Board.

00:46The offence allegedly took place at the Defense Ministry Jalan Padang

00:50Temba on November 27, 2023.

00:55Fawzi allowed bail of RM100,000 with one surety and ordered Fawzi to surrender.
