Sydney Zoo has shown off its newest resident following the birth of a giraffe calf last month. It's a rare opportunity for visitors to see the baby giraffe as it begun its first public appearances this week.

00:00at two months old and already over two
00:05metres tall. This giraffe calf was only born last month.
00:10It's about 60 kilograms and has since grown to over 120.
00:15Now first time mother Ayama and the still unnamed newborn.
00:20Giraffe births are known to be quite dramatic as they give
00:25birth standing up. But early on zookeepers here had to step in with a newborn.
00:30Requiring round the clock intensive care.
00:33When a baby giraffe is born it's a pretty
00:35traumatic experience for that calf. It's a very very long drop
00:38in those first few seconds of his life.
00:40Our little man had a little bit of a rougher start than normal
00:43which meant that we actually did have to step in.
00:45And help raise him. Which means that we've been spending
00:4824 hours a day here with him, feeding him.
00:50Helping him with a little bit of physiotherapy even.
