00:00The fatal shooting of a Minneapolis protester is exposing some unease among Republicans.
00:05Over President Trump's immigration crackdown, a growing number of Republicans are now
00:10calling for a full investigation into the death of intensive care unit nurse Alex
00:15Freddie. Republican Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana joined demands for a full joint
00:20federal and state probe into what happened and one of the highest profile warnings came.
00:25From House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, who suggested federal agents should leave
00:29many
00:30Minneapolis and be sent to another city. Other senators who have previously broken with
00:34President Trump
00:35were even more critical, like Senators Tom Tillis and Lisa Murkowski. This marks the second
00:40fatal shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis this month after Renee Good was killed by an
00:45vice agent amid flaring tensions in the city. Democrats meanwhile are threatening to block a
00:50massive spending package this week unless Republicans strip funding for the Department of
00:55of Homeland Security, which risks the potential for a partial government shutdown. The pressure is
01:00not just from Capitol Hill, more than 60 CEOs of Minnesota based companies called for an immediate
01:05de-escalation between state, local and federal authorities. President Trump said
01:10in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the White House is, quote, reviewing everything and will come
01:14out with a determination.
01:15He announced Monday U.S. border czar Tom Homan will go to the city suggesting this could
01:20help calm the tensions.
