00:00hello and a warm sunny welcome to the weekend travel show for the next 60 minutes we are going
00:14to be whisking you off to some fabulous destinations around the world with some of
00:18our much-loved celebrities aren't we though what does traveling in a nutshell mean for you then
00:23it means a lot to me you know because I didn't really start properly traveling until I was
00:29an adult I mean most of my holidays when I was a child were in the UK and we always went to the
00:35same place but the first time I ever went on holiday on an airplane I was about 10 years old
00:43and we went to Lorette de Mar I don't know if you've ever been there it is but yeah it was an
00:50experience and it rained every single day and my dad had only taken this tight it was almost like
00:57a briefcase for the amount of clothes that he had and the hotel wasn't finished and it was just
01:02it was horrendous sounds like a right carry-on caper well in the view outside the window obviously
01:06as you can see there is tulips um and Amsterdam was my first destination that's the first time
01:11I ever got on a flight and it was to go as part of a university course over in Amsterdam but the
01:17thrill I got from just getting on that plane I remember like it was yesterday and I haven't stopped
01:23since I made it I got my wings for the very first time mate so coming up on today's program
01:29Jane MacDonald is exploring the paradise of Barbados also on the show today our dynamic duo George and
01:36Larry Lamb are having an adventure in Wales and our five hapless celebs attempt to get their motor
01:42cruisers through some hair raising locks on a canal boat holiday in France but Kim let's uh for our first
01:50story of the day uh go back to that beautiful view of the tulips I've been obviously you've been as
01:55well I have been indeed and I do have a story but I'm gonna save that for after our Bonnie Scott
02:01Susan Cullman takes us to Amsterdam's famous flower fields
02:05this is quite extraordinary there are hundreds and hundreds of people arriving
02:15for the tulips and it's got a feel of real excitement it it's how I imagine it is outside
02:25you know a theme park or something the people are just pouring it never ends and the car park's just
02:30fuller full of buses I mean look at this each year over 1 million visitors tiptoe through these very
02:40splendid tulips
02:47so Elizabeth my first glimpse of the tulips it's amazing yeah it's such a huge selection already that
02:53colors do you have any favorites oh the fringed definitely I've never seen anything like that
02:58before absolutely gorgeous the fringe one of the 15 species and they're my favorites
03:02I snorted I'm so excited right let's get the map out I used to be a brownie you can tell
03:10so we are we're here and I think we should take a look at the lake yeah that's great we need to get
03:20going we've got seven million flowers to see from your experience is this kind of curated have they
03:28deliberately planted those ones there and those ones over there so that it's the best display yeah
03:34these are much earlier they came out and they'll have all the lilies together and then perhaps you
03:39know you can see the vestiges of the great paths and yes coming through and so they have swayed it
03:45always looks more dramatic if you have one tie together you know this is quite a dramatic feel when
03:49you've got it's beautiful those red and yellow ones it's like a mini mini swathe all the way around
03:53yeah the same types together I think the gardens are open for just eight weeks of the year when the
04:00tulips are in full bloom these are just coming up these ones trying to get my camera trying to get my camera up
04:08I mean look at these these are peony tulips I mean they're just like completely lush oh look at that not me sorry
04:19no problem
04:23tulips first came to Holland from what is now Turkey at the end of the 16th century they're beautiful look at
04:32those ones their popularity soon sparked tulip mania the flowers were so valuable that a handful of bulbs
04:40cost more than a house
04:44so do you have any favorites so far yep these are my favorites I have never seen anything like that yep the lily flower tulip
04:50this is very much like the original tulip shape goes into the waist comes out this is what you see in the
04:56the Turkish images of tulips that's the shape you said to me what your favorite tulip is I'll be honest
05:04with you I've seen so many here I can't make up my mind about which one's my favorite well what we
05:08should do is we should head to the shop yeah have a little look and have a look and see if we can see
05:12bring something back yes who am I kidding I find something to take back with me from every gift shop
05:21I've left Elizabeth to browse herself
05:23So what I'm keen to get is the iris ones and the flamey ones. Oh there we are flamey ones. I meant fringed ones
05:32Monted on if you're watching no competition
05:35Fringed ones I'm looking for colors as well. I don't already have in the garden so
05:40double
05:44if I can get an iris one that's what I'm looking for
05:49sorry sorry that one that one just keep looking at the same thing susan and get let's get some
05:55yellow ones because yellow ones are really lovely and bright
05:59doing tulip related t-shirts
06:00yes they do
06:05oh this is this is the one this is the one and I don't have a purse I don't have a purse
06:13now I've got a purse
06:19to do what just for luck
06:22let's take an egg cup is that a shot glass
06:25is that a shot glass or an egg cup or is there a difference
06:28I think it's a shot glass
06:31we'll take it yeah we'll take it we'll take it
06:36and this one and that as well
06:37it's the best
06:39is it a shot glass
06:40I thought it was an egg cup
06:41would you like a carrier bag
06:42yes please
06:44I'll say it's an egg cup
06:48I mean successful
06:50even the lady behind the counter said I'd spent quite a lot of money
06:53but you know
06:56I'm on my holidays
06:57so susan filled her boots there or possibly her clogs didn't she with with everything uh remotely tulip
07:05and amsterdam uh theme she should have taken a big shopper but susan's trip aside yeah
07:09i mentioned i went over to further my education kim yeah and your good self how was amsterdam for
07:14you my friend oh it was eventful um it's probably up there with one of the most unusual places i've
07:21ever been recognized so amsterdam you know comes with a a theme shall we say
07:27from time to time and i went to a an adult show because i wanted to see what it was all about
07:32i thought you got to experience it while you're there you know so i did went with a friend and
07:37sat there and got halfway and i thought i should probably leave now it's getting a bit
07:43much so i kind of stood up and as i stood up to leave a man behind me shouted not staying for the
07:49second half kim and i just kind of went oh dear me i went all like shy and it was really
07:56hilarious whatever happens kim i'm sure you'll be welcome back a bit like susan of course especially
08:02if she's doing all that shopping but if you fancy a trip to amsterdam the kuchenhof uh gardens are open
08:06from mid-march to mid-may every year but do check our website for the opening times and after the break
08:12we'll be with nick knowles braving the cold in norway and our famous five are cruising the canals of france
08:18welcome back thanks for joining us again now the last time on the soap opera starring our famous five
08:30tom conti penny smith tony christie tessa sanderson and termid gavin our team had just finished their
08:37lessons on how to pilot their boats so that they could start their barging holiday and now it's time
08:42for them to go it alone how do you think they fared well i've met a couple of them and penny smith
08:48indeed is is a dear friend and and she's very robust in spirit if nothing else um i reckon she
08:53did a brilliant job actually mate you reckon no sorry
09:02a bit more to the right leave it okay you see you keep on adjusting do you sort of mean yeah you
09:12have to leave it and not turn don't sort of keep on trying to move yeah little by little because then
09:18yeah it ends up going really far over i am very bossy you've noticed right yeah you're very bossy yeah
09:26uh i've just thought what now that we know that captain tom crashed into another boat
09:34doesn't that give us more confidence now that he's crashed yeah it means that we can relax
09:40yes because we're brilliant no they can't take the mick out of now now because we have not crashed yet
09:45no yet so where next folks well we've just left cahors so we're winding our way down the river four
09:56locks i think well we seem to be approaching a weir so that must be our first lock do you want me to
10:03change over or okay yeah enjoy that you're going to more first yeah got to on here yeah drop you off yeah
10:12somehow the river feels different the currents stronger or something my god that is seriously
10:19strong can you go quickly are you there get jump off and more us up i'm coming quick can you do it yet
10:27i can't jump that that's too far i need to get in closer so i can jump off she's struggling with the
10:33wind bow thruster bow thruster okay wow god oh she did well you got us on yeah get the front one on
10:45tie us off huh you're not tied up properly it's going to be much tighter than that wait wait wait wait oh
10:52for god's sake oh my god right hand bow thruster right hand i don't can't leave the wheel but go
11:04forward fractionally call to the right time to the right i know i know i am i don't know what's going on
11:15if an olympic athlete can't turn your boat you may as well give up all right i can't hold it
11:21penny don't worry it was pretty much there hey penny penny it's the only way to learn
11:30i'm going up the lock tess is already off they don't have to tie up on we go oh blimey
11:37we're gonna go into the lock first throw it up
11:44how's penny doing have we abandoned her completely nothing we can do
11:48huh this isn't right i don't know whether this is i don't know whether we're working anymore
11:57we're in we're in trouble
12:01whoops i can't just leave a lady in distress i think it's best that one of us is with penny yeah yeah
12:07stuck in a tree you either need a fireman or a gardener and lucky penny you get the gardener so
12:18there's no power i tell you what why don't you go and see what you can do because i can't make it start
12:23because it's now doing emergency things my problem is i've never had a chance to do this because tom is
12:28so good being captain okay if i can get past these trees which is what i'm trying to do we should be okay
12:39oh okay brilliant brilliant oh i've never been so pleased to see anybody in my life
12:55she's feeling well done chaps hi tom we're just coming in now very good have you seen the state of
13:03the birds have you seen my landscaping i do like a bit of greenery i think i'll let you it's not
13:11the one to start on is it no no no here we go here we go okay i'll do the ropes sorry don't worry
13:20quite dodgems now well done well done i feel a bit shaky actually do you want me to take over oh yeah
13:41well no why don't you take over because actually it looks like it's quite a nice um it's quite a nice
13:45old straight but anyway and i can have a i can have a sit down well that alleviated the boredom a bit
13:56in it yeah it did and we've got a new ship mate hello hello hello you couldn't get off i'm sitting all down
14:04here on my line uh just getting a bit of uh getting rid of a bit of rubbish oh i'm really missing penny
14:12already i know the boys are great but our chat our banter no we don't do banter we don't we don't do
14:18banter really talk philosophy languages history that's the thing banter no no first sea lord come in
14:28you know you've been mentioned in dispatches to uh naval base in portsmouth just remind dermot that
14:35that his command is only temporary i understand my position i'd rather be a deckhand
14:41the nice thing about my new deckhand is he's going to landscape the boat we have an awful lot
14:47of foliage on here i don't know if you notice as well that we prefer to have a slightly bent canopy
14:54so you do you've sustained damage in the last battle
14:59so our penny coming across i'll probably be the same as well myself actually a little bit overconfident and
15:04and knowledgeable if only harvesting knowledge from my my days on a barge on the norfolk
15:10broads when i was a kid so that was a long time ago she's a little bit bossy i mean self-confessed
15:15yes absolutely she'd be the first to admit it and then um like my good self um probably as hopeless
15:19as the rest yeah well except the first sea lord tom conti of course yes indeed i'd be so below deck
15:26i really wish you wouldn't see me for dust now nick knolls is heading to a very different kind of cabin
15:32in a rather frosty norway and it does look a little bit chilly out there doesn't it it's taters that
15:37yeah taters indeed
15:46the landscape in this area is truly breathtaking it's a great way to see the country trundle along
15:52on a train as we trundle further north and closer to the arctic circle the landscape is beginning to
16:01change look at the snow on the top of that peak we finally got to the bit of norway that is snowy
16:09the views are spectacular but there would be wouldn't they fields mountains proper outdoors in it
16:16after traveling another 120 miles we're coming to musha the oldest town in this region of helgeland
16:26so this is bottom which is my chance to try a bit of
16:29friletslith which is the you know great outdoor thing i'm still not pronouncing it right i don't think
16:35from here i'm taking to the skies
16:40i'm flying out to one of the most sought after hiker destinations in norway
16:45with visitors coming from all over the world to stay here
16:50well this is the way to get a view of norway get up in the air
16:56across norway there are cabins built for hikers in remote areas
17:01and i'm off to see one of the most beautiful ones wow look at that we're actually over the glacier now
17:07well i wanted to see snow
17:13the pilots let me open the door to get a better view
17:19oh what a fantastic view isn't it
17:25the cabin that we're going to visit is that one down there
17:28at 4 000 feet in the ugstendan mountains the rabud heater cabin but with a location this remote
17:39how does this cabin function project manager sven is here to show me
17:43friend hi welcome thank you very much yeah this is uh this is it it's beautiful and the setting is
17:52incredible it's stunning we call it we call it the roof for the northern norway the roof of northern
17:58norway yeah this uh the uh the mountains yeah no it's absolutely so can i have a look around the house
18:03the cabin is open year-round and is self-service accommodating the intrepid hikers who make the two
18:11hour trek to get here thank you please come in thank you oh this is beautiful
18:23this is amazing
18:26oh look at that
18:27it's one of 550 cabins operated by the norwegian trekking association but this beauty has been voted
18:36as the most popular cabin in norway what have you this is stunning it is i'm very rarely stuck for
18:45words but i have to say this is one of the most gobsmacking places i've ever been in my time i've
18:49built many buildings but i've never felt like this about about a building i've walked into it's um
18:57quite an emotional experience actually weirdly do you find people react emotionally to this space
19:02people coming up here for the first time and they stay outside they look at the view uh it's amazing
19:09right and then they come inside and then the tears just they just come i think it is this framing of
19:18nature which is so amazing this is on the very borderline of the harsh nature the very tough nature
19:26the one you cannot control right and the safe inside uh again a place where you can really
19:34just feel well grab a pencil and write this down the rabo cabin
19:41norway because if you like walking find a way to come here it is absolutely extraordinary
19:47it's under 20 pounds a night to stay i have never seen anything like this
19:56wow that looks amazing doesn't it oh wow i'm quite familiar with norway you know go on yeah
20:01yeah so i i am i did a lot of recording out there both as a solo artist and as hearsay
20:07um as part of hearsay we flew out to oslo and then we flew out to the most beautiful this tiny little
20:12plane which i hated of course out to trondheim it's the most gorgeous place i've ever seen
20:18it's so beautiful and we did all our recording out there well a lot of it anyway and then as we were
20:23being revealed as a band um we were doing this photo shoot for a magazine and we decided we were
20:29going to do the shoot out in trondheim and it was like minus 12 like you could not feel your toes or
20:35anything none of us could sorry am i am i boring you as always kim lovely chat but i've just seen
20:41over your shoulder a hitherto unexplored part of the weekend travel show studio all right what you
20:46up to they're gonna write your memoirs are you short version um how do you spell rebeau
20:52what why what you doing it's under 20 quid a night kim we're the only people on this show
20:56who haven't gone anywhere well it's r-a-b-o-t if you must know
21:01right well while richard's getting the moths flying out his wallet we'll take a short break
21:07but we've still got plenty of great trips to come including jay mcdonald in the paradise
21:11of barbados and george and larry lamb in beautiful temby in wales
21:21welcome back now when many of us picture our dream holiday it is fair to say that the caribbean
21:27is right up there with its white sands and swaying palm trees crystal clear waters a little bit
21:34like our view you could be there couldn't you yeah you could as you know i've only been to jamaica
21:40uh once and that was with our mutual friend uh sue on the on the all-inclusive which was great but we
21:45didn't really leave the resort so i can't really speak much of the caribbean but i know you've
21:50been i have not to barbados specifically though but i have been to grenada which was absolutely
21:58stunning i i loved it it was quite a small island and the people were gorgeous so i'd go back in a
22:04heartbeat well barbados is a mecca for the rich and famous which is possibly why we've never made the
22:08cut the perfect place to dip your toe into the caribbean which is exactly what the ever radiant jay
22:15mcdonald is about to do
22:24flipping heck is paradise
22:34big moment now big moment yes big moment
22:36oh the sand between me toes oh it's like walking in heaven isn't it now i do love bridlington but
22:47this is hard to beat and just like that all the stresses of life and the last couple of years are washed away
22:56the reason i've picked this hotel is because it's quite central to most things that i need
23:05like shops but the big thing is this hotel runs the full length of this amazing beach but just one
23:13thing else all beaches in barbados are public so if you go for a smaller budget don't matter you can
23:20still come and use any beach that you want in barbados it's easy to feel like doing nothing when
23:27you're on holiday but as barbados is all about crystal clear waters and multicolored marine life
23:35i can't wait to book a day trip to experience this fascinating undersea world so i'm taking the plunge
23:42literally yay we're off we're met by one of the many companies who specialize in catamaran tours
23:52thank you thank you very much good afternoon guys welcome aboard action charters
23:59they'll be taking us a short distance to the calm and sheltered waters of carlisle bay
24:04hi guys hi so i'm hannah and i'll be going into the water with you guys today fabulous yeah so
24:12we'll be there in a short moment and we'll get you guys some gear and jump in the water fantastic thank
24:17you before we take the plunge we get a few wise words from andrew so once you see your lips around
24:23it you put your teeth in the two grooves and make sure you don't smile or a screen water will enter your
24:28moment feeling a bit nervous because i can't breathe through my nose but it'll be fine okay guy the pool's
24:36open as i slide into the warm water my nerves are soon calmed and it's a bit warmer than bridlington
24:49snorkeling is a must do when you come here the turquoise waters are warm and inviting
24:55and full of surprises this is great absolutely fabulous it's not long before we're surrounded
25:08by these beautiful turtles this is a bit of a spiritual moment for me it's proper special
25:25it was absolutely amazing to see the turtles just coming right up to you and you can see everything
25:37through through this it's just incredible okay i always thought i was more of a scuba diver but i think
25:44i'm going to become a snorkeler now because i like it that much because especially because i wear this
25:50i can just stay here like this it's fabulous behind you along with spotting precious marine life
26:00you can explore the incredible coral reefs surrounding the island you can find toes like
26:07these all over barbados but this stunning bay has even more fascinating treasures of the deep
26:14of the boat okay guys now we're still here in carlisle bay this time we're nested at the shipwreck
26:21shipwreck is directly at the back of the boat there are six wrecks here to explore
26:27this is the bourbon it's the number one snorkel wreck on the island look at me now i only started
26:34snorkelling this morning and now i feel like i'm an old hand even floating on the surface i can see the
26:46seventy foot wreck nestled on the bottom because the water is almost crystal clear
26:51everything looks like it's hd quality including the sensational sea life
27:04this is the berwin a french tugboat sunk in 1919 just after world war one around 200 ships have been
27:14lost in this bay since the 17th century due mainly to storms or pirates
27:20the most recent dates to just 1996. oh another thing ticked off my list amazing so so pleased that
27:30i've learned to snorkel because i think i'll do i'll do that every time i go away now i've always been a
27:36bit apprehensive about it but not anymore i've learned to snorkel and i'm really really glad i did i know
27:42it's taken a few years but it's never too it's never too late to learn it's never too late
27:49to learn
27:52oh jane what a gig kim amazing right the computer passed with i'm gonna book it it was a bit more
27:58than 20 quid though that wasn't it but you know worth it worth it i mean the catamaran which i've
28:02only ever been on once and that was in australia and that was an extraordinary experience that
28:06snorkelling phenomenal i did pick up a sea cucumber once did you yes yeah not the end of my road you know
28:12it was on the barrier reef and that that's when i went snorkeling wow that's i mean i've never been
28:17snorkeling as you know i don't particularly i'm not entirely sure whether it's my thing but as jane
28:22said it's never too late to learn so too late to learn indeed and believe me if you find something
28:26like a sea cucumber down under i'd seek medical attention immediately now it might not be the
28:31caribbean but it is considered one of the uk's best holiday destinations by the sea which will contend me
28:37in wales you love wales that's a big holiday home for you it's got so much history for me so many
28:43happy memories you know there with my brothers and my sister and so many happy times for me family
28:49affair indeed our traveling duo george and larry lamb exactly the same they've cycled there and larry's
28:54about to take a leaf out of jane's book and prove that it is indeed never too late to learn
28:59dad and i have visited many places but amazingly we've never been on a seaside holiday together
29:09probably because we like different things i'm happy chilling on the beach all day whereas he
29:13just can't sit still so this trip will be a genuine first for us but looks really lovely
29:20every single time you look in one of these best beaches to go in the world always pembrokeshire and
29:25i've never been temby is the jewel in pembrokeshire's golden beach crown today it's a magnet for tourists
29:33but it wasn't always as laid back and genteel as this temby's really sort of important little town
29:38in the late 15th century temby was second only to bristol as a west coast port really yeah this place
29:46yeah wow but it was further fortified in the 1580s when it seems a likely target for the spanish armada
29:53well who'd have thought temby would be at the center of all these yeah historical goings-on
30:01pembrokeshire is the only exclusively coastal national park and it rivals new zealand for
30:07spectacular beaches it's perched on the southwestern corner of wales and boasts 250 miles of coves cliffs
30:15and beaches my idea of a perfect beach holiday is me on a beach that's it nobody else just me
30:25the minute anybody else comes along i'm out of it see you later ta-da
30:29ah this is going to be interesting then
30:33now why won't you lie on the beach it's all right when you're your age i can understand why you want to
30:37be all bronze i don't want to be flashing my flab anymore anyway not interested right oil is this
30:45is it all vanity of course it's vanity look at you one of the vainest people i've ever met oh really
30:52animal doesn't fall far from the tree exactly exactly
30:57it's not really ideal weather for sunbathing but that's a good thing as dad won't get bored
31:02especially when he sees what i've got fixed up for him
31:07surf's up mate the surf's up and so there's loads of surfers in the water and guys up by their vans
31:14and you know it's obviously a good spot i've booked dad in for his first ever surfing lesson
31:20870 and former pe teacher emma mary is going to show him the ropes it's really busy down here
31:27doesn't matter whether it's a weekday or a weekend it doesn't matter surfers come surfing basically
31:35emma mary swapped her classroom for the coast and has been surfing in the uk's cleanest water for 30
31:41years so um so what's the crack then how do we what do we need to know all we're looking at is learning
31:48how to catch the waves just as the waves about to hit the tail of the board give it a good push forward
31:53jump on a bit like when you're hurdling my upper body doesn't actually move too much
31:57i'm glad you give us a hurdling reference because i i remember exactly what that was like from 20
32:02years ago you can tell i've been a pete teacher can't you yeah it was hurdling oh fantastic the chances
32:09that i get any further than lying on a board for a couple of minutes
32:14a pre-slip it's all about keeping that weight driving force amazing harry's got it yes then you just pop up
32:22yeah now we've got to get in the water i think somewhere in everybody's uh hopes and dreams
32:29there's a kind of inner surfer you know that guy who's totally in tune with nature spends his day
32:34with his buddies just catching massive barrels let's hit the waves ready let's hit the waves
32:44the reality is you know as you get a bit older you start to realize who you are
32:48and i'm not that guy with a lot of sports george it's just the wrong shape he's got you know this
32:55huge frame and these legs are like you know massive tree trunks mind you i'm hardly the expert myself
33:05that's me done so i got my feet on almost every time which is quite a surprise but that's as good as it got
33:25george won't give up and is point blank refusing to get out of the water
33:29just one more dad that's all i want one more go
33:37that's it he's up he's done it well done boy oh
33:44well hell it's great to know that temby has the uk's cleanest water especially since they fill in
33:49it so yeah surfing i do feel their pain actually because it's all about the core strength um which
33:55you know i've got a little bit of even though you're looking at me now thinking there's a body under there
33:59like a melted candle i can assure you i can stand up on a board in water but that's about it you
34:04know what i mean better than me we used to visit temby when i was a kid not to surf though imagine me
34:09surfing it's terrible now coming up we'll be seeing how jane mcdonald is getting on in barbados
34:15and alex polizzi takes us to italy for a bucket list moment
34:20welcome back well we are nearing the end of the program but we have two more treats from two of our
34:33top traveling talents starting with our lady jane mcdonald back in barbados are you one for keeping
34:39fit on holiday i've been known to do the old deep squat yeah i like to keep myself tidy i do like to
34:44keep myself tidy but i don't i don't labor it on holiday no but i do like to work up an appetite
34:50i'm one of those that takes my stuff with all good intentions and then just can't be bothered
34:54anyway jane has found a way to enjoy her time in paradise whilst keeping the body in shape too
35:01i've done a bit of yoga in me time i'm not really a bendy wendy i'm not but you can do yoga
35:07on a paddleboard so i thought you've got to do these things because i might be really good at it
35:15hello hello are you tiffany i am i'm jane nice to meet you tiffany skinner's my instructor and she
35:24is living the dream she relocated here from portland oregon and now spends her days in paradise teaching
35:31yoga i can tell you do yoga because of that figure i do i do practice i do teach on the water and on the
35:39land my figure don't look like that but it might do after this
35:46well you can only hope hey this is stand-up paddleboard yoga designed to strengthen the body
35:53whilst being in touch with nature oh my god i'm on just does my bum look big in this
36:10paddleboard yoga really good for core and really good for balance yeah close your eyes
36:15yeah nice and tall float your arms up to the sky and exhale hands to heart center
36:25so we're going to get on all fours right you sure
36:32yoga has many benefits like stress relief giving you muscle tone and positions like this improve
36:38core strength and balance extend your left legs there we go so far so good see if you can float that right
36:45arm up there we go like that oh my god this is harder than you think and then there we go
37:02and that ladies and gentlemen is what happens when you're lacking a little core strength
37:06how difficult can this be ah this difficult positive mental attitude mcdonald
37:29somehow everything's clicked and there's something very calming about breathing in sync with the waves
37:35extend that right leg back i'm gonna reach that right arm up to the sky now of course this isn't for
37:42everyone but i've had a lovely time with tiffany today it's not good at skeg nest this it won't work
37:48at skeggy the biggest challenge for me was getting back on the board i won't lie to you on that but it's
37:54been brilliant and thank you very much for today namaste namaste
37:58you've got to hand it to our jane she gets knocked down and she gets up again she does
38:06doesn't we burst into song let's do just like jane would do i know it's just when you think it's all
38:11gone wrong it all goes right ah it's our jane for you which brings us to alex polizzi and a bucket list
38:17for the adventurous traveler it's possible to experience the wild beauty of this island from the
38:28water and if you're lucky you may be treated to a rare site monica is a marine biologist she runs a
38:40rescue unit for marine turtles but she also runs boat trips for those hoping to explore the abundance
38:46of sea life here ciao monica nice to meet you i'm alex and here's on a monica
39:04the aeolian islands are colonized by dolphins but monica is researching a species that is rarely seen
39:10here the bottlenose it's been a year since you last caught sight of these creatures so i'm not
39:20holding out too much hope only 38 bottlenose dolphins exist around all the aeolian islands
39:28making them an endangered species sadly this doesn't feel like it's going to be our day
39:35we didn't find dolphins today but boat is still the best way to see feeling cool d in fact it's
39:46the best way to see any island as far as i'm concerned
39:54but just as we've given up hope monica spots something
40:05it's very rare to see them when i see you before yeah
40:30gosh there's lots of them astonishingly monica can identify every one of these dolphins from their
40:42distinctive dorsal fins oh look it's just there you are very lucky
40:52i can't believe how calm they are and how many there are of them all together it's really really exciting
41:00it's amazing gosh gosh
41:09well i didn't think we were going to get to see this so i feel very very lucky
41:15sorry for my click
41:19clicking away with her camera she can't believe it either
41:22i've seen dolphins before but i've never seen so many also close these are just hanging out
41:30i can think of few other mornings in my life like this one
41:34oh what a treat that was what an amazing rare sight as well and and you could feel the excitement
41:44couldn't you from being on that boat when they broke the surface of the water it's magical and
41:49alex was saying you know you should feel so lucky having witnessed that and you sit here and you're
41:53watching it and you feel lucky for i i've seen dolphins in the wild like that alongside a boat before
41:59that i've been on it wasn't a particularly large cruise liner in fact it was no bigger than a piece
42:02of tupperware to be honest such was the budget uh but uh yeah it's a magical thing to behold isn't
42:07yeah it is i've seen them myself and i've been on boat trips when i've been on holidays so it's
