00:00Anelis Alvalov reports a significant increase in the prices of basic foodstuffs continuing to affect families purchasing power.
00:06According to data from the Central Reserve Bank, the cost of food rose by 2.44% in urban areas and 3.07% in rural areas during the last year.
00:16By December 2025, the basic food basket reached $252 in urban areas and $184 in rural areas, figures higher than those recorded in 2024.
00:26This increase is partly linked to the high dependency on imported products, such as vegetables, dairy products and basic grains.
00:33The increase is more noticeable when compared to the minimum wage, which is around $409 in commerce and services, while in the agricultural sector it is just $273.
