00:00Have you got what it takes to make it all the way to our final question and join the 1% club?
00:18Anyone has a chance to win because this quiz isn't about how much you know, it's about how your brain really works.
00:23As all our questions are about logic and common sense.
00:26So who will make it to the end and answer a question only 1% of the country can get right and win up to £100,000.
00:34Let's play the 1% club.
00:40And hoping to win tonight, it's our 100 players.
00:45So come on, you know the rules. Give me a cheer if you think you're going to do well tonight.
00:51The very good looking chap in the front row there. What's your name?
00:55Tennyson.
00:55Hello, Tennyson. How are you?
00:57I'm all good.
00:57Tennyson's a great name.
00:59Yeah, it's perfect. I play tennis.
01:01And you are the son of your dad.
01:03You are the tennis son.
01:04That is true. He's actually here today as well.
01:06Your dad is?
01:07Yeah.
01:07Who's your dad?
01:08Right over there.
01:09Hello, dad. How are you?
01:10I'm fine.
01:11Have you come in matching shirts?
01:12I told him not to do it. He forced me.
01:16Whose idea was it to come in matching shirts?
01:181, 2, 3.
01:20Aw, man. Jeez.
01:22Was it your idea?
01:23Yes, it was.
01:24Tennis.
01:25What do you do, sir?
01:26I'm studying engineering at uni whilst also tennis coaching.
01:30What would you do with the money if you win tonight?
01:32I think he's going down, so I'd obviously have to give him a little consolation prize.
01:36Did you discuss before you came who would get the furthest?
01:39Um, we did. We disagreed, though.
01:41What do you think the answer is?
01:42Oh, definitely me.
01:43You think you'll go further?
01:44Of course.
01:45And what do you think, sir?
01:46I think I'll go further.
01:47OK, we're going to keep an eye on you two.
01:48Uh, listen, good luck to you both.
01:51Now, don't forget you can play along at home if you want.
01:53All you have to do is download the app.
01:55Before we ask our first question, a reminder of how the show works.
01:57We asked a cross-section of people from all over Britain a list of our unique questions.
02:02Based on their answers, we can tell statistically what percentage of the country should get each one right.
02:08Tonight, I'll be asking those exact questions to our 100 contestants, beginning with the easier one that 90% of Britain got right,
02:15and ending with the most challenging question that only 1% of the great British public answered correctly.
02:21At the start of the show, every contestant is given a £1,000 stake.
02:26If they get any question wrong, they are out of the game and the £1,000 is transferred to the 1% prize pot.
02:32Whoever gets the furthest in the quiz wins £10,000 and the chance to answer the final 1% question to win everything in the prize pot.
02:42And take home up to £100,000.
02:45Right, let's get on with it. It's time for our first question.
02:52So this is one that 90% of our survey got right. Let's see how you do.
02:58What two-word phrase is represented here?
03:02And your time starts now.
03:04They really should redesign that soft play area.
03:11What two-word phrase is represented here?
03:18OK, your time is up. Let's see who's lights stay on and are still in the game and how many people are out.
03:32Right, we lost just one person there. Let's have a look at the answer.
03:48It's baby steps. So we lost Cormac Hayes. Unlucky Cormac, where are you?
03:54Yeah.
03:55What did you put, Cormac?
03:56I put baby stairs. That's not what I'm doing.
03:58Well...
03:59There are stairs at the end of the day, but I panicked.
04:01I suppose so.
04:02It's gone to bed.
04:03Yeah, never mind. Cormac. Good name, Cormac.
04:06It's what people say when they see me naked.
04:11What...
04:12It's always nice when people get jokes at different times, isn't it?
04:15What do you do, Cormac?
04:17Just graduated as a student, looking for a job.
04:19Do you think this will help?
04:20Not going to go very far. Just delete this episode, that's all.
04:23We'll edit it out.
04:24Yeah, please.
04:25We certainly won't focus on you and do the chats, that's all right.
04:27Yeah, definitely not.
04:28Is anyone waiting to find out how you get on?
04:29I'm actually here with my brother today, so...
04:31You're with your brother here?
04:32Yeah.
04:33Where's your brother?
04:34The ginger one?
04:35Yes.
04:36Yeah.
04:37Oh, wait, hold on.
04:38You have got to be kidding me.
04:41Sorry.
04:42I mean, that's incredible.
04:44We've never had that on the show before.
04:45Wait a minute, if it's my close-up.
04:47What's your name, sir?
04:49Killian.
04:50Hello, Killian.
04:51How are you?
04:52I'm good, how are you?
04:53Do you always preen yourself like that?
04:54Yeah.
04:55More importantly, do you see yourself as the cleverest?
04:57I would say yes.
04:58Everyone else would say no, including our sisters.
05:01Did you have a chat on the way in and sort of say,
05:03who do you think would do the best?
05:04Well, I said me, but we also agreed I might take the one grand
05:08and he was going to get to the 1% question, so...
05:11Well, unlucky Cormac, but your brother's still in,
05:13so you've still got a chance of some money, that's the way I see it,
05:15because you are splitting the money, just so you know.
05:17Yeah, we are definitely.
05:18We are splitting the money.
05:19You're changing the rules.
05:20Yeah.
05:21Right.
05:22We might be doing another close-up soon,
05:23if you want to get your air ready again.
05:24I won't.
05:25I will.
05:26So there are 99 people still left in the game,
05:28and the £1,000 of everyone who got the question wrong
05:30now goes into the prize pot.
05:32Let's see what that's done to the total.
05:33£1,000, of course.
05:36Time for the 80% question.
05:41So, a question that 80% of the people we asked managed to get right.
05:46Let's see how you get on with this one.
05:48If the Beatles song eight days a week were true,
05:53how many days would there now be in a calendar year?
05:56And your time starts now.
05:58If you get it wrong, just let it be.
06:02OK, your time is up.
06:23Let's see who got it right.
06:25Right, we lost six people.
06:43Let's have a look at the answer.
06:45It's B, 417.
06:47There would be an extra day every week,
06:49which equals an extra 52 days.
06:51365 plus 52 is 417.
06:54Oh, no.
06:55We've lost Tony Ince.
06:56What did you put?
06:57I put C.
06:59You put C?
07:00Yeah, bad fingers.
07:01Did you know the basic principle to it?
07:03Yeah, I did, yes.
07:05I feel bad because you've dressed up.
07:07You've made an effort, sir.
07:08Some people, they make no effort.
07:10They just make their son wear a matching shirt
07:12and think that's enough.
07:13What do you do, sir?
07:14I'm a private hire driver.
07:16Oh, OK.
07:17You said a private I for a second.
07:19No, private hire driver.
07:20Private hire driver.
07:21And any hobbies?
07:22Yes.
07:23Yeah, I'm a black belt at martial arts.
07:25Which one?
07:26Taekwondo.
07:27Which one's that?
07:28The one where you do a lot of kicking.
07:30Spinning round and kicking them in the head?
07:31Yes.
07:32Right.
07:33I mean, I'm going to take the mickey, but I've changed my mind.
07:35Any other hobbies?
07:36I'm also a trained sports monsieur.
07:38Are you?
07:39Yes.
07:40So my hands could either kill you or cure you, depending on what side of the fence you're on.
07:45You sound like some sort of advert for an S&M thing.
07:50Listen, unlucky Tony.
07:52Oh, no.
07:53Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
07:55Right, we're on £7,000.
07:56OK, we are on to the 70% question.
08:05Let's take a look at this one.
08:08If Ariana Grande were to reverse her name, which of these would be the result?
08:13And your time starts now.
08:15If Bono reversed his name, it would be Oh Nob.
08:21Just saying.
08:22LAUGHTER
08:39OK, your time is up.
08:41Let's see you've got it right.
08:42Right, we lost three people there.
08:57Let's have a look at the answer.
09:00It's C and there it is underneath.
09:02Ian Kenny is out.
09:04Hello, Ian.
09:05What do you put?
09:06You look absolutely gutted, mate.
09:07I am.
09:08You look angry.
09:09I am.
09:10You look like you could jump over there and attack me.
09:11I need you, Taekwondo man.
09:13I put B, I don't know.
09:15It looks at the top word, you see.
09:17A dang word.
09:18I knew as soon as the time stopped, it was wrong, I don't know.
09:21What, when I showed you the answer?
09:23Well, that helped.
09:24What do you do, Ian?
09:25I do boring government work.
09:27Do you?
09:28Do you do it with such enthusiasm?
09:29No.
09:30What do you do specifically?
09:31I can't really see it.
09:33Oh, is it?
09:34Oh.
09:35Is it?
09:36Top secret.
09:37Is it?
09:38You might be a spy.
09:39Which would be odd.
09:40On national television and tell everybody?
09:42I always think, if you just make up a job, it's fine.
09:44But when you go, I can't tell you, then you draw attention to you.
09:47And all the people at Omer writing it down go, watch out for him.
09:49No.
09:50OK.
09:51Am I five?
09:52Am I...
09:53Am I what?
09:54Am I...
09:55I'm not asking you, do you know my age?
09:59Oh.
10:00With that accent, am I five?
10:02No, no.
10:03You look a lot older than that.
10:04LAUGHTER
10:05Well, listen, unlucky for going out.
10:07Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
10:12£10,000.
10:13Right.
10:14Time for the 60% question.
10:18Let's take a look.
10:19Which of these images shows this cupcake rotated 90 degrees clockwise?
10:26Your time starts now.
10:32I don't care.
10:33I just want the cake.
10:34LAUGHTER
10:58OK, your time is up.
10:59Let's see who got it right.
11:00MUSIC PLAYS
11:20We lost 13 on that one.
11:21Let's have a look at the answer.
11:24It is C.
11:25And there is the graphic to prove it.
11:27Unlucky.
11:28Lucy Willis, where are you?
11:29Oh, Lucy.
11:30What did you put, Lucy?
11:31Yeah.
11:32As soon as it goes to your face, I can see someone that's really unhappy about...
11:34I'm really upset.
11:35I can tell.
11:36What did you put?
11:37Oh, I put A.
11:38I don't know 90 degrees.
11:40I was going to say...
11:41I've just no idea.
11:42Are you not sure about your degrees?
11:43No.
11:44So you was a wild guess?
11:45Yeah, just wild guess.
11:46As soon as you saw the word degrees, did you think, that's it, game over?
11:48Yeah, yeah.
11:49I suppose, listen, if you don't know your degrees, you don't know, do you?
11:52Did you do maths at school?
11:54Well, sometimes.
11:55It might have been the days that you weren't doing it.
12:00What would you have done with the money?
12:02I would have bought myself some new socks.
12:05I love socks.
12:06Live the dream!
12:08Oh, well, listen, unlucky Lucy.
12:11Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
12:16£23,000!
12:18So, time for a quick break.
12:20We've lost 23 people here already.
12:22I hope you're doing OK at home.
12:23And don't forget, you can play along on the app.
12:25After the break, we will be moving closer to seeing if anyone here
12:28can answer the 1% question.
12:30We'll see you in a bit.
12:31Welcome back to the 1% Club.
12:45We started off with 100 people and now we are down to 77.
12:49The person who does best here tonight could be going home
12:51with up to £100,000.
12:53So, welcome to everyone who's still in the game.
12:57And from now on, we are going to give you the option
12:59to pay for a pass to the next question.
13:01And if you do, your £1,000 will be transferred to the prize pot.
13:04However, if you get as far as the 30% question without using your pass,
13:07you'll get the chance to take your £1,000 and leave the game.
13:11Right, it's time for the 50% question.
13:16Here it is.
13:18Answer the question below.
13:20OK, your 30 seconds starts now.
13:32I've got two other four-letter words that sound nothing like cent,
13:35if that helps.
13:43And you can use your pass.
13:50OK, your time is up.
13:54Let's see who got it right.
13:55OK, we lost six people. Let's have a look at the answer.
13:59Here you go.
14:00Sent and sent.
14:01Er, somebody who got it wrong is Lindsay Hopkinson.
14:02Hey, Ellie.
14:03How are you doing?
14:04I'm fine, thank you.
14:05What did you put, Lindsay?
14:06I misread the question completely.
14:07I misread the question completely.
14:08I'm sorry.
14:09I'm sorry.
14:10I'm sorry.
14:11I'm sorry.
14:12I'm sorry.
14:13I'm sorry.
14:14I'm sorry.
14:15I'm sorry.
14:16I'm sorry.
14:17I'm sorry.
14:18I'm sorry.
14:19I'm sorry.
14:20I'm sorry.
14:21You've got it wrong.
14:22It's Lindsay Hopkinson.
14:23Hey, Ellie.
14:24How are you doing?
14:25I'm fine, thank you.
14:26What did you put, Lindsay?
14:27I misread the question completely.
14:29And instead of sounds exactly like, I thought rhymed with.
14:32Rhymes.
14:33So you put?
14:34Sent, S-E-N-T, which I got right, and tent.
14:36Yeah, because it rhymes.
14:37OK, fair enough.
14:38What do you do, Lindsay?
14:39I'm a body piercer and I also do burlesque dancing.
14:42My burlesque name is Dottie Depravia.
14:44Really?
14:45Yeah.
14:46She's a psychotic needle nurse.
14:48When you say she, it's you.
14:51Do you say you're a piercer?
14:52A body piercer, yeah.
14:53Have you got piercings yourself?
14:55I have.
14:56I've lost count, but I think...
14:58I know there are over 20.
14:59Wow.
15:00I mean, you know what I'm going to ask.
15:02You might as well tell me.
15:03Are they...
15:04I mean, what...
15:05Where are they, Miss Jones?
15:07Most of them are above my waist.
15:10OK.
15:11My favourite one is below.
15:13Really?
15:14On your knees.
15:15Lindsay, yeah, unlucky.
15:18So, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
15:23£96,000.
15:24OK.
15:25APPLAUSE
15:26It's now time for the 45% question.
15:31Let's take a look.
15:33What four-letter word replaces the question mark to make four phrases?
15:39OK, your time starts now.
15:41MUSIC
15:53MUSIC
15:54MUSIC
15:58MUSIC
15:59MUSIC
16:00MUSIC
16:11OK, your time is up. Let's see whose lights are still on.
16:29Right, we lost two people there. Let's have a look at the answer.
16:33It's cold, stone cold, out cold, cold call, cold feet.
16:37Someone who got that wrong is Megan Caspern.
16:39What did you put? I think I put ten.
16:43Ten, let's have a look at that. Stone ten, out ten, ten cold, ten feet.
16:47I was focusing on ten feet and then I just couldn't get it out of my head
16:50and I used my pass. Oh, because you thought it was a measurement?
16:52Yeah, I don't know. Why would it have to be ten feet,
16:54just out of interest? Could have been any amount of feet.
16:56I know, I don't know. Was it a giraffe you were thinking of?
16:58Actually, it's much taller than that, isn't it?
17:01What would you have done with the cash?
17:03So, my nan really wants one of me or my cousins
17:06to buy our great, great Nanny Fanny's pub.
17:10Nanny Fanny? Yeah, my great, great Nanny Fanny.
17:14Thank God you didn't forget to say the word Nanny there.
17:16Yeah, yeah. She wants a pub and she wants us to buy the pub.
17:19Whoa, whoa, whoa, what pub does she haunt?
17:21The Skirred Mountain Inn in Abergaverny.
17:23Why would she haunt that pub?
17:24Well, apparently she's the landlady and then...
17:27She was in the past? Yeah, she was.
17:29Yeah, she's not now, you know that, don't you?
17:31And who told you this, the landlord?
17:33My nan. Oh, your nan, does she go to the pub still?
17:36Yeah, we go every year for my nan's birthday,
17:38so we've literally been last month.
17:40And have you ever seen her? Not your nan, I know she's still alive.
17:43Have you ever seen your great, great Nanny Fanny?
17:45I'll be honest, I just want to keep saying great, great Nanny Fanny.
17:47Great, great Nanny Fanny.
17:48Has anyone seen your great, great Nanny Fanny?
17:52I'm starting to think great, great Nanny Fanny isn't haunted.
17:54No, she's real.
17:56OK, on looking, Megan.
17:57Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
18:03£58,000.
18:04OK, it's time for the 40% question.
18:09Right, let's take a look at this one.
18:12In the pictures below, how many people are pointing to their left?
18:16OK, your time starts now.
18:39Don't forget that pass.
18:40OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
18:52OK, 13 out on that one. Let's have a look at the answer.
18:53It's five, all the ones in the red circle.
18:54We lost Lottie Cannon there. Lottie?
18:55Hiya.
18:56What do you do, Lottie?
18:57What do you do, Lottie?
18:58I'm a student.
18:59What are you studying?
19:00Natural sciences.
19:01Do you know your left to right?
19:02Some people don't.
19:03Yeah, I do. I'm left-handed, so I'm very aware of my left to right.
19:05Oh, you're actually left-handed as well.
19:06Yeah.
19:07But what do you do, Lottie?
19:08I'm a student.
19:09What are you studying?
19:10Natural sciences.
19:11Do you know your left to right? Some people don't.
19:12Yeah, I do. I'm left-handed, so I'm very aware of my left to right.
19:15Oh, you're actually left-handed as well.
19:16Yeah.
19:17Oh, I miscounted again, sorry.
19:18Yeah, you're right.
19:19I think you missed.
19:20I don't know.
19:21I'm not.
19:22It's five, all the ones in the red circle.
19:23We lost Lottie Cannon there.
19:24Lottie?
19:25Hiya.
19:26What do you do, Lottie?
19:27I'm a student.
19:28What are you studying?
19:29Natural sciences.
19:30Do you know your left to right?
19:31Some people don't.
19:32Yeah, I do. I'm left-handed, so I'm very aware of my left to right.
19:34Oh, you're actually left-handed as well.
19:35But what did you put?
19:36I put three, because...
19:37Which ones did you miss?
19:38I missed one of them and I didn't realise you were supposed to say both of them for the couple, so...
19:41Yeah.
19:42Hold on.
19:43There's five people.
19:44Oh, I miscounted again, sorry.
19:45Yeah, you're right, yeah.
19:46Do you have any hobbies, Lottie?
19:48Yeah, I really love baking.
19:49OK.
19:50And I like looking at people and trying to work out when their birthday month is just by, like, blankly looking at them.
19:56Oh, by their face?
19:57Yeah.
19:58Go on then.
19:59What's my birthday month?
20:00August?
20:01You said that like you hadn't Wikipedia'd it.
20:04Are you really going for August?
20:07It is August, actually.
20:08Oh, is it?
20:09I'm very impressed.
20:10But you might have planned to do that beforehand, so let's make it a bit harder.
20:13Look to the person on your right.
20:15That's your left, remember?
20:18I can see why you went wrong on this one.
20:21Sorry.
20:24What's her birthday month?
20:27The thing is, I'm going to get it right.
20:29I'm going to say July.
20:30No.
20:31What is it?
20:32February.
20:33Rubbish that game, innit?
20:34OK, never mind.
20:35Unlucky Lottie.
20:36OK, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
20:39£17,000.
20:40Right.
20:41Getting tricky now.
20:42Let's move on to the 35% question.
20:46OK, here it is.
20:51Which of these dates is the odd one out?
20:55Your time starts now.
20:56Your time starts now.
20:57E
21:04The
21:09The
21:12The
21:17The
21:19OK, your time is up.
21:29Let's see if you've got it right and how many people are out.
21:47Right, we lost three people there.
21:48Let's have a look at the answer.
21:51It's B, when written in numbers, the days and months match the year,
21:54apart from B, which should say 1806.
21:57Someone who didn't know it but used their past is Nigel Rosario.
22:01What do you do, Nigel?
22:02I'm a doctor.
22:03I work in psychiatry with children and adolescents.
22:07OK, and any hobbies, Nigel?
22:09I love collecting shoes.
22:11Shoes? Shoes, trainers, footwear.
22:14Over 200 pairs.
22:16Where do you keep 200 shoes?
22:17So they're spread out over four houses, I would say.
22:20My own house.
22:20Four houses?
22:22You haven't bought houses for the shoes?
22:23No.
22:24Oh, OK.
22:24My own house, my parents' house,
22:26my ex-partner's house, my current partner's house.
22:29OK.
22:31Do you know what the bit that the partner's not going to like?
22:33The word current.
22:34I don't know.
22:37Good luck to you tonight.
22:39Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
22:44£71,000.
22:47It's time for a quick break.
22:48Welcome to everyone's Spilling the Game.
22:50We'll see you in a bit when someone here could win up to £100,000.
22:53Welcome back to The One Percent Club where we've been asking questions which have been tested out on a cross-section of the British public and we've been whittling down the contestants here tonight and are left with 53 people with their lights still on.
23:17Now, as a reward, any contestant who hasn't played their pass and still has their £1,000 now has a choice.
23:23Play on for the big money in the prize pot or you can take your £1,000 and leave the quiz right now.
23:28So first of all, let's see which players still have their £1,000.
23:33Right, those of you with your lights on, you can take your money and leave the show if you want.
23:37Please make your decision now.
23:47So, eight of you have decided to take your £1,000 and leave the game, including Beverly Jenkins.
23:55Hiya.
23:55Were you losing confidence?
23:57Well, I've had a lovely day.
23:59I just thought I'd take the money.
24:01That's a proper old-school ITV answer.
24:04I like that.
24:04Well, I'm pleased.
24:05You could have been on bullseye with that kind of response.
24:07I love it.
24:08You don't get a bendy bully with us, though.
24:09No.
24:10Oh, never mind.
24:11You get a very rigid Lee Mack.
24:12I'll rephrase that.
24:13You know what I meant.
24:17I meant not able to...
24:19You know what I meant.
24:20Beverly, what do you do?
24:22I'm a retired nurse.
24:23Are you?
24:24And have you said a few things in your time?
24:26Well, I have, I have.
24:27And sometimes you just have to prove things, don't you?
24:30I remember one time I did have to put a condom on my head
24:33to prove it was big enough to go where it was needed.
24:37Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
24:39Sometimes these guys will just tell us it's just too small, nurse.
24:43Oh, wait, see, so they'll say,
24:44I can't wear a condom because it's too small.
24:47And you'll say, look at this.
24:48I said, yeah, I did put it over my head,
24:50but she's still pregnant.
24:53All right, well done, Beverly.
24:55And congratulations to everybody else
24:56who's taken their £1,000.
24:58Well done.
25:00Right, so the rest of you have decided to play on.
25:03Let's see if that gamble will pay off
25:04and if any of you can go all the way
25:06and join the 1% Club.
25:07And remember, if you've still got your £1,000,
25:09you can pay for a pass to the next question
25:11if you don't know the answer.
25:13It is time for the 30% question.
25:18OK, let's take a look at it.
25:21If a blue car stops suddenly
25:23and a yellow car behind crashes into the back of the blue car
25:26and a green car crashes into the back of the yellow car
25:29and a black car crashes into the back of the green car,
25:32how many bumpers front and back will have been hit in total.
25:38Your 30 seconds starts now.
25:43We'll see you next time.
25:50One more time.
25:54Your time is up.
26:11Let's see who got it right.
26:24Wow, talking of car crashes.
26:40We've lost 21 people there.
26:41Let's have a look at the answer.
26:43It's six.
26:44The four cars have eight bumpers, but the front bumper on the first car and the rear bumper
26:48on the last car were not hit.
26:51Oh, no.
26:52Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
26:53We've lost Dad to Mark Premper.
26:54I'm sorry.
26:55Mark, what happened?
26:58Well, um...
26:59Was that son cheering?
27:00Yeah, I don't believe you did that.
27:01He cheered at his dad going.
27:05Mark, what happened?
27:06What did you put?
27:07When you said bumpers front and back, I counted it as pairs.
27:11So I said three.
27:11Okay, that's understandable logic.
27:13It's not right, but it's understandable logic.
27:16Tennyson, you are still with us.
27:18Now, did I hear a cheer when your dad went out?
27:20That wasn't me.
27:21Bear in mind, we've got you on camera.
27:26There may have been someone in my general vicinity who...
27:29Right, not only cheered, but also operated your mouth.
27:33Why did you cheer your dad going out?
27:34Could have been the great-great-grand...
27:36It could have been great-granny Fanny Annie, couldn't it?
27:38Yes.
27:38Whoever her name was.
27:40Are you feeling a bit cocky that you're in and Dad's out?
27:42No, I'm feeling so gutted.
27:45LAUGHTER
27:45Um...
27:47OK, well done, well done.
27:50You're still with us, Tennyson.
27:51Killian, unfortunately, we've lost you as...
27:53Oh, another...
27:54I know.
27:55Another family member has gone.
27:57Yeah.
27:58Did we ask what you do, Killian, for a living?
27:59No, I'm a sales assistant and drag queen.
28:02Oh, you're a drag queen?
28:03Yeah.
28:03A sales assistant and drag queen at the same time, or separate jobs?
28:06No, that would be hell.
28:07What's the sales assistant job?
28:08In a garden centre.
28:09That would...
28:10I suppose they're not expecting a drag queen when you're buying...
28:12When you're buying roses, are you?
28:13No.
28:14What's your drag queen name?
28:15It's Ariana Crystal.
28:16Crystal with an eye, like the champagne.
28:18So you found the Ariana question quite easy, did you?
28:20Yeah, thankfully.
28:21Is brother still in?
28:22Oh, no, brother went out early.
28:23Unfortunately, yeah.
28:24I've got that question right, though, so...
28:26You have to have the last word, don't you?
28:28Obviously, yeah.
28:29Be honest, he's out.
28:30Are you a little bit happy that he's out, so we won't brag too much?
28:33Erm, yeah, a little bit.
28:35But obviously, on TV, I'm going to say, yeah, I wish he was still in.
28:38Yeah.
28:39But you were on TV when you said the first bit, as well.
28:41Yeah, kind of a bit out of time.
28:42Has already worked that on TV.
28:43Well, listen, well done for those of you that are still in.
28:46So let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
28:51£87,000 now.
28:53CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
28:56OK, we are at the 25% station.
28:59APPLAUSE
29:01Here it is.
29:02If you were following the dotted lines through this maze,
29:05what is the total number of times you would turn left to get through it?
29:10And your time starts now.
29:11MUSIC PLAYS
29:14As mazes go, it's hardly up to court, is it?
29:16LAUGHTER
29:18And you can use your pass.
29:30MUSIC PLAYS
29:31OK, your time is up.
29:33Let's see who got it right.
29:36MUSIC PLAYS
29:38OK, your time is up.
29:39Let's see who got it right.
29:41MUSIC PLAYS
29:43Let's see who got it right.
29:45MUSIC PLAYS
30:04We lost nine people. Let's have a look at the answer.
30:08It's four. Somebody got it right.
30:10It's Roisin Maguire. Roisin, you've got a pass as well.
30:12Well done, Roisin. Thank you.
30:14How are you feeling? Nervous now.
30:17What would you do with the money, Roisin?
30:19I really want to go scuba diving in Iceland
30:23between the tectonic plates.
30:25OK. And what do you do in your spare time?
30:27I like to do a lot of things in my spare time.
30:29I don't do them well. OK.
30:31I get injured every single time I try something new.
30:34OK. Like what?
30:35I did climbing and then I hurt my ankle.
30:38I did rollerblading.
30:40I did aggressive ramp skate rollerblading.
30:43What's that?
30:44I broke my ankle.
30:45That's when you're wearing like blades on ramps
30:47and you hit your friend when you're mid-air
30:49and you both break your ankles.
30:51You deliberately hit your friend?
30:52No, not deliberately.
30:53No, I was watching where I was going.
30:55She was not...
30:56OK, it went to the insurance, did it?
30:58Are you trying to get your alibi out now?
31:00But listen, you've got a very good chance
31:02because you are one of only four people
31:04who've still got a pass.
31:05So well done, you four.
31:06And let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
31:12£88,000.
31:13Right.
31:14We've got 15 people still in the game
31:16and are down to the 20% question mark.
31:20Let's take a look.
31:21Each of the options below is a clue to a word.
31:26Four of the clues can be paired up.
31:28The words sound the same but are spelt differently.
31:31Which clue is the only one that can't be paired up?
31:34Your time starts now.
31:36I reckon it's F.
31:39I reckon it's F.
32:07OK, your time is up.
32:08Let's see who got it right.
32:27We lost five people on that one.
32:29Let's have a look at it.
32:31It's C.
32:32The pairs are A and E and B and D.
32:34Tail can't be paired up.
32:36We've lost Tom Botsford.
32:37Tom, what happened?
32:38What did you put?
32:39I don't know.
32:40I couldn't see it.
32:41I just put E.
32:42Did you not see that at all and just went for a random guess?
32:44I was in between E and A, to be fair.
32:46You were in between E and A?
32:48If you'd either said I'm in between A and E,
32:50I'd have had a gag about hospitals but I can't do it now.
32:52I'll do it again if you like.
32:54Go on then.
32:55Did you get that right?
32:56I was between A and E.
32:58Have you got any gags on that?
33:00I haven't.
33:03Unlucky Tom.
33:04Harina Gill, you're still with us.
33:06Hello, Harina.
33:07Oh, what happened there?
33:08Nearly dropped.
33:09Oh, no.
33:10What have you dropped?
33:11I've accidentally knocked my...
33:12Have you dropped the iPad?
33:13I've dropped the iPad.
33:14Have you broken it?
33:15I've been overexcited as you said hello to me.
33:17Has it got a crack in it now?
33:18No, no.
33:19I've just accidentally switched off the screen.
33:20You've switched it off?
33:21Oh, I'm afraid that means you're out of the game.
33:23Sorry about that.
33:24Rules and rules.
33:25You need to just touch it, apparently.
33:28Touch the screen and it comes back on.
33:30Double tap it.
33:31Oh, there you go.
33:33How have you got this far?
33:34OK.
33:35Well, listen, you're still with us.
33:37Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
33:43£90,000.
33:44Right, we are getting close to the end.
33:46It's now time for the 15% question.
33:50Let's take a look.
33:53What flower is represented here?
33:56The 30 seconds starts now.
34:16OK, time is up.
34:30Let's see whose light is still on.
34:32We've lost seven people there.
34:52Let's have a look at the answer.
34:54It's Rose.
34:55Rose sounds like Rose.
34:56That simple.
34:57Somebody who got it...
34:58Oh, no.
34:59Oh, no.
35:00We've lost Tennyson.
35:01Aw.
35:02Oh, that is bad news.
35:03What did you put, Tennyson?
35:04I put Ingrid.
35:05Ingrid?
35:06Is that a flower?
35:07Probably.
35:08I mean, you could have at least put a flower.
35:11Unlucky Tennyson, was it just a wild guess?
35:14Yeah, I just saw a grid.
35:16Oh, Ingrid?
35:17I see what you mean.
35:18An arrow's going in to the grid.
35:20Ingrid, a girl's name, I suppose.
35:22Dad?
35:23I mean, mixed emotions, because you don't want your son to go out,
35:27but at least he's not going to bang on about it all the way home
35:29if he wins.
35:30Yeah, well, the preferred if he won't want the money,
35:33because he had to pay for petrol.
35:35Did he have to pay half the fuel to get here?
35:37Well, he's a driver and petrol, yes.
35:39Yes.
35:40Oh, right.
35:41But you're a shirt supplier, so it works both ways.
35:43Exactly.
35:44Right.
35:45Unlucky Tennyson, you are out.
35:46Somebody who is in is Jack Smith.
35:47Hello, Jack.
35:48You all right, Lee?
35:49All right, Jack?
35:50Yes, not bad.
35:51Are you feeling confident?
35:52I was.
35:53I was nervous at first.
35:54I used my pass on the 45%, which was earlier than...
35:58Which one was that?
35:59The stone cold and the cold feet.
36:01Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
36:02I got it as I entered my pass, but luckily he's still in.
36:05What do you do, Jack?
36:06I'm a mechanical engineer from Hartlepool.
36:08What do they call people from Hartlepool?
36:10Monkey hangers.
36:11Monkey hangers, because?
36:13We hung a monkey, I believe it was during one of the wars,
36:17because we thought it was a French spy.
36:19Welcome to Hartlepool.
36:22There you go.
36:23Are any of your colleagues or friends going to be watching you?
36:26Yes.
36:27All the lads at work will be watching, including my boss, Michael.
36:31OK.
36:32We have a bit of a, you know, disagreement.
36:35He likes to make fun of me for being of average height.
36:38Well, how tall are you?
36:39I'm 5'10".
36:40That's fine.
36:41He can't even see over his desk, though.
36:43How high is he?
36:44About 5'6".
36:45OK, so you have a big debate about what?
36:47Who's the tallest?
36:48Because surely you win?
36:49Well, exactly.
36:50He seems to think we're, you know, same level, but...
36:53He sounds like an idiot.
36:54He's 5'6", you're 5'10".
36:56Jack, I genuinely hope you win tonight,
36:59because you've just lost your job.
37:00LAUGHTER
37:03So, there are only three people left with us tonight.
37:06It's Jack Smith, Monty Gould and Roisin Maguire.
37:09Well done, you three.
37:10APPLAUSE
37:15Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
37:21We're now at £92,000.
37:23OK, we're down to our last three players.
37:25After the break, we'll find out which of our remaining contestants
37:28could go on to play the 1% question.
37:30See you in a bit.
37:31APPLAUSE
37:44Welcome back to the 1% Club.
37:45We are very nearly at the point where we will discover
37:47who our winner will be.
37:48Now, here's how the end of the show works.
37:50Whoever does the best here tonight will win £10,000.
37:52But if they're feeling brave, they can risk their £10,000
37:55by trying to answer the 1% question.
37:57Get it right?
37:58And they will win everything in the prize pot,
37:59which currently stands at...
38:01£92,000.
38:03CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
38:05There are only three people left in the quiz,
38:08and it's now time for the 10% question.
38:11Good luck.
38:12Here it is.
38:14What word literally connects the left to the right of this grid?
38:21Your time starts now.
38:23MUSIC PLAYS
38:40OK, your time is up.
38:56Let's see you got it right.
39:10Right, we lost one person there, let's have a look at the answer.
39:17It's Link. There it is. L-I-N-K.
39:20Jack, you're still with us.
39:22Hi, Lee. Yeah. You could leave this job, couldn't you?
39:25Maybe. It's looking more and more likely.
39:27Do you want to give any messages to this boss of yours
39:30just to really put the last nail in the coffin of your career?
39:33Oh. What's his name?
39:35Michael Stango. Michael Stango?
39:37From Middlesbrough.
39:38You really want them to do it, aren't you?
39:41What, the little Michael Stango?
39:43The little fella there, can't see over his desk,
39:45needs a booster seat to be able to see you.
39:47That little fella. Your boss.
39:49Yeah, yeah.
39:50And Roisin, well done Roisin.
39:52You're down to the final two.
39:54Yeah.
39:55I notice when you answer your questions,
39:57you put on what looks like a pair of sunglasses.
40:00Are you like a poker player?
40:02I was hoping they wouldn't get noticed.
40:04How's that padded out for you?
40:06Best way not to be noticed, wear your sunglasses indoors.
40:08Are they your reading glasses?
40:09They are, they are.
40:10They are my screen glasses.
40:11OK, fair enough.
40:12Well, listen, Roisin and Jack, well done.
40:14You are both still with us and you are the final two people.
40:17Let's see what that's done to the prize pops.
40:21Nothing, because Monty had already used his pass.
40:23So, we are down to the 5% question.
40:27Good luck to both of you.
40:29Let's have a look at it.
40:32In this puzzle, what letter replaces the question mark?
40:35Your time starts now.

41:04OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
41:28Right, we lost none of them on that one. Let's have a look at the answer.
41:33It's R. The numbers refer to the position of the letters in the name of the number.
41:38So we have our finalists. Congratulations, Jack Smith and Roshi Maguire.
41:42You've made it through to the 1% question. Come down and join me.
41:53Because you've done so well and made it to our final question,
41:56you win a shirt of £10,000. But now you both face a dilemma.
42:00You can leave the show tonight and take your shirt, which of course works out at...
42:04..£5,000 each. Or you can risk it all by attempting the 1% question.
42:10If you get it right, you will win your shirt of everything in the prize pot,
42:14which stands at...
42:17..£92,000.
42:21However, if you get it wrong, you will leave with nothing.
42:24Obviously, if one of you decides to play on and gets it right,
42:26then you'll win all the prize pot. If both of you decide to play on,
42:29you'll win a share of it if the other person gets it right.
42:32So, it's now time to make your decision.
42:35OK, both of your lights are on, which means that you've decided to play on,
42:50the pair of you.
42:53So...
42:56..after whittling down the contestants here in the studio,
42:59we are left with the 1% question.
43:05If you both get this right, you will win your share of the prize pot
43:08and become a member of the 1% Club.
43:11Good luck.
43:13This is your 1% question.
43:17Diana celebrated her 83rd birthday yesterday
43:21and was given balloons to represent her age.
43:24If she was gifted new balloons for every birthday she has celebrated,
43:29how many number three balloons would she have received?
43:33And your 30 seconds starts now.
