00:00Today's been really good. People often wonder about what the morning's going to bring.
00:10Is it going to bring the heartache and the pain and the stories?
00:13Is it going to be a conflict against Australia Day and what it means for other people?
00:17But today for us as Aboriginal people, it's a day of mourning and reflecting about our people,
00:23our ancestors, our culture, our country, our families and a good opportunity for us to get together
00:30and just talk about it, reflect about it and being honest about the truth and the history of this country.
00:42Survival Day Dawn Ceremony is a ceremony that brings the Balak community together
00:48and it's led from the inside out and led by people in our community who come from many different mobs
00:54and to honour the space that we're on, which our country is Wadawurrung.
00:58So this is an event about solidarity, acknowledging the past.
01:02We don't want to see the same things happen again and if we don't talk about it and remember it
01:09then we feel like our voices aren't heard because they haven't been heard.
01:18We're going to be here.
01:20We're going to be here.
01:21We're going to be here.
01:22We're going to be here.
