On this Special Report, the focus is on the political row erupting in Maharashtra following the announcement of the Padma Awards. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has strongly criticised the decision to confer a Padma honour upon Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the former Governor of Maharashtra. The party alleged that the 'man who murdered democracy to install BJP-Shinde government in state is being honoured' by the Modi government. The transcript highlights the friction stemming from the 2022 political crisis when the Uddhav Thackeray-led government lost its majority. While the opposition views the award as a reward for enabling the current Eknath Shinde-BJP administration, the report also notes Koshyari's long political career, including his time spent in jail during the Emergency and his tenure as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The programme explores the deepening divide between the Sena UBT and the ruling alliance over this controversial recognition.

01:16And there was a lot of pain and the government was formed during his tenure.
01:21But one should also remember, during the times of emergency,
01:24I think Koshyari has spent about one and a half years behind bars into the emergency
01:29and then being the chief minister of Uttarakhand and many other roads which he has borne down.
01:36But yes, Sheikh Sena UBT is clearly taunting the central government for announcing the award,
01:43the prestige award for Bhagat Singh Koshyari for the role he played as a governor
01:48while the Uttarakhand government lost its majority during the Mahavikha family time back to you.
01:53Right. Thank you very much for all those details.
