00:00President Trump has said Denmark can't defend Greenland from potential threats like Russia or China.
00:05We have to have it. They have to have this done. They can't protect it.
00:09It's one of the reasons he says the U.S. should acquire Greenland.
00:13But if Greenland were attacked, Denmark wouldn't be defending it solo.
00:18Let me explain.
00:19See, there's this thing. You may have heard of it.
00:21It's called NATO.
00:22Made up of 32 countries, including the United States and Denmark.
00:26And Greenland is a part of the Kingdom of Denmark, so, you know, it's covered by NATO protections.
00:33And something you have to agree on to be part of the NATO club is Article 5.
00:37And Article 5 says an attack on one NATO member is an attack on all members.
00:43So if someone came after Greenland, NATO allies would have to step in, including the U.S.
00:49And many major European partners.
00:51Bottom line, Greenland's defense is a shared responsibility, not just Denmark's.
00:56Got questions about the whole U.S. Greenland-Denmark triangle thing?
01:00Drop them in the comments.
01:01And as always, here's my receipts for my straight facts.
