00:00Look, there's a really critical by-election.
00:03We have to work hard to earn people's trust and to earn every vote.
00:09We want the best possible candidate for that by-election
00:11to join what is already a strong parliamentary Labour Party.
00:16There's obviously a big decision for Andy to make
00:19about whether he wants to be a candidate,
00:21and so far as I'm away, he hasn't expressed a view yet,
00:25so we're getting a little bit ahead of ourselves.
00:27And then it's a decision for the party,
00:30and certainly there would then be big questions to weigh up
00:34about what the consequences would be
00:37if we were to have an election in Greater Manchester too.
00:39So lots of things to weigh up,
00:41not for me to provide a running commentary.
00:44What I will say is that in the last sort of day or so,
00:47without having even indicated whether he wants to run,
00:51there have been some pretty unkind things said about Andy,
00:56as usual from people who don't put their names
00:58on this sort of briefing,
00:59and I think that is a disgraceful way to treat someone
01:02who is a Labour Mayor, part of our team,
01:05and an important part of our movement.
01:06So I hope we'll see not just the process conclude,
01:10but also a better culture in the process too.
