00:00Roxy and Lafayette, thank you for calling.
00:02What's up, Roxy?
00:05Oh, hello?
00:07Hello, Roxy?
00:08Hi.
00:09Hi.
00:10It's my first time actually talking to you guys.
00:12I listened to you.
00:15Anyway, I was calling because, you know, I'm like frustrated about Draymond,
00:21but this thing about like Kerr maybe leaving at the end of this season,
00:27and I believe that when Kerr leaves, like Kerr is going to leave,
00:33and I don't know what you guys think about this,
00:36but I also would love to see him actually play golf, professional golf,
00:40that I would actually watch because I don't watch golf,
00:44but I used to watch with Tiger Woods, and every time he plays golf,
00:48I watch Kerr.
00:49I think Kerr could be good.
00:51I mean, he would have his options open.
00:53I just can't see him in another jersey.
00:56I just cannot.
00:58You know, when Montana went to, where did he go?
01:01Kansas City.
01:02Yeah.
01:03Yep.
01:03I didn't like that when, was it, did Rice go to the Raiders?
01:08He sure did.
01:09That's my memory.
01:10And the Seahawks and Broncos in some form too.
01:13Yep, yep.
01:14Right.
01:15I did not like that.
01:16And I feel like Kerr is very loyal, and so he will stay as a warrior.
01:22And just, so I just, I don't know, it just hurt my heart and soul.
01:26So I just wanted to say that.
01:28What do you think about that?
01:29Do you think Kerr would leave with Kerr?
01:31Roxy, thanks for calling.
01:33We really appreciate it.
01:34We'll answer all of that.
01:36I don't know.
01:37I'm not comfortable.
01:39I know what everybody is like.
01:40Well, so he's a competitive, you know, champion.
01:46So if he knows for sure that the Warriors are not going to win, he's going to want to leave.
01:50And I get it when people are like, he doesn't seem like that kind of guy.
01:53And he doesn't.
01:54But then again, sort of like the opposite is true as well.
01:59I think he's staying in the moment, and the moment hasn't arrived at that yet.
02:04I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that Steph Curry would put on another jersey someday.
02:12There are a few scenarios that would bring it there.
02:14I think it's unlikely, but I don't, I don't, I'm not comfortable being like he would never do that.
02:18What I can firmly say is if I ran the Warriors, it's a complete hard no for me unless he came, sat me down, explained it, and begged for it.
02:30Right.
02:30I would not choose to start rebuilding my franchise.
02:35I'm sorry if it takes extra years, great, then it takes extra years.
02:39I am not trading Steph for any reason other than he begged for it.
02:45Right, and I don't even know if he has to beg for it, but I mean, just the whole idea of him begging, like hands and knees, like begging, I do it.
02:53You know what I mean?
02:54Like he really, really wanted it.
02:55I got stuck on the word.
02:56And Steini had a good comp earlier.
02:59Not a great elite comp, but it was Chris Mullen who was here for 12 years.
03:03And then, you know, you got through 12 years, and you know, you had the TMC run, which wasn't really a run, but pun intended.
03:10And, you know, other than that, the Warriors weren't really that good that often, and he went to the Warriors and said, I want to try something else.
03:17I want to go somewhere where I can actually have a shot.
03:20And so he went to Indy for three years, and, you know, they went to the playoffs all three years, I believe.
03:24And so that's what he did because he never had that taste of what Steph Curry's already tasted.
03:30And that's where I think that it's a little bit different.
03:32One, Steph is much more of a box office draw, and he's much more of the epicenter.
03:38Mully was the epicenter, and I know that you and I both have a liking of him at the same level where he was my favorite player.
03:46And he might still be my favorite player of all time, a guy who I grew up admiring.
03:50And, you know, he got to that spot, and he wanted to go somewhere else, and so he did.
03:54If Steph went to them and said, you know, guys, I don't like the way that this is going.
03:57I got a couple more years left.
03:59Can you trade me?
03:59They would do it, but it would be really hard for them to do that.
04:03I think it would be really hard for him to do that.
04:05But, no, I'm not going to remove it from the realm of possibility.
04:09There's a reason that the Tim Duncans and Kobe Bryants and Magic Johnsons and Buster Poseys of the world,
04:16like there's a reason that still gets so readily remembered.
04:19It's super, super rare.
04:22Yeah.
04:22And the examples of the, well, he would never are actually plentiful.
04:28From the Joe Montana that she referenced to Michael Jordan on the Wizards.
04:34Carl Malone was a Laker.
04:35Carl Malone was a Laker.
04:37Like, so many of these lifers.
04:39Tony Parker was a Charlotte.
04:42On and on and on and on.
04:43Hornets.
04:43I think they were the Hornets then.
04:45Hakeem was a Raptor, wasn't he?
04:47Hakeem was a Raptor.
04:47Oh, my God.
04:48Shaq was an everything.
04:50Hell, he played for all the teams.
04:51That's fine.
04:52No, I know, but some guys, it happens when they're young, but if, like, a year ago,
04:56people would have been like, Luka's going to be on the Mavericks forever.
04:59Where did Patrick Ewing play after New York?
05:02Did he go anywhere?
05:03Orlando.
05:03Yeah, that's right.
05:05Yep.
05:05Orlando Magic.
05:06They get all the big men.
05:08They get Ewing and Dwight and Shaq, but only for a little bit.
05:11He also was a Supersonic.
05:14Oh, that's right.
05:15He was a Supersonic.
05:16I just, quick type of his, 15 years as a Knicks, and then he was a Seattle, and then
05:23he was an Orlando.
05:25Ewing.
05:26Yes.
05:27I just think, like, it's hard, you know.
05:30John Stockton's another one who was a stick and stay guy.
05:32I mean, let's extend this to other sports.
05:35Tom Brady played for the Bucs.
05:37Yeah, and he won a title.
05:38And he won a title.
05:39No, these guys, it goes like their whole career, and then you're like, never.
05:44And then think about what we suddenly, as fans, get asked to wrap our head around.
05:49They do it.
05:50And the Niners of the Bill Walsh era are the best example.
05:54They all, all of them, Ronnie Lott, Roger Craig, Jerry Rice, Joe Monte, all of them grabbed
06:02another jersey, usually because Bill went and told them to.
06:06It's just, it's really rare.
06:11Do I think Steph is one of those?
06:13I do.
06:14But I wouldn't.
06:17There's a great one on the YouTube chat.
06:18Willie Mays was a Met.
06:19Willie Mays was a Met.
06:20Yep.
06:21Willie Mays was a Met.
06:23You know what I mean?
06:24So, yeah.
06:25Jerry Rice.
06:27He played for the whole damn AFC West, practically.
06:30Um, let's go to Noah in the city.
06:33Hi, Noah.
06:33Thanks for calling in.
06:34What's up?
06:36Hey, how you guys doing?
06:37Thanks for taking the call.
06:38Yeah, ma'am.
06:39Um, I agree with you.
06:41I think as long as Steph wants to stay, like, we have to give him a shot.
06:45But I'm scared we're going to enter that, like, Lakers-Kobe era, like, post-2014 when they're
06:51going through it.
06:52But their record is, like, what they are.
06:55They're going to be a mid-team.
06:56They're going to be a mid-team forever.
06:57And you kind of just brought up a point where, you know, Bill Walsh will go up to players
07:02and say, you know, I'm going to get rid of you a year or two before your decline starts.
07:06Like, not for the sake of this personal relationship that we're maintaining, but for the sake of the
07:10franchise.
07:11Um, so it's, you know, I don't have the answer.
07:13I don't know if anyone does.
07:14I'm trying to strike that balance between keeping these guys who led titles in our jersey,
07:20in the Warriors jersey, but also for the sake of the franchise, not going back to the depths
07:25of, you know, pre-Steph and pre-2014.
07:29So, um, I want him here as long as possible, but I also want a team I can root for and take
07:35pride in for as long as possible, too.
07:37No, I get that.
07:38Thanks so much for the call.
07:39Here's a vision that I had today.
07:41I was driving in, and I started, it's like, okay, let's think about this for a second.
07:45Because it's very easy, I think, to call a radio show and go, you know what?
07:49It's over.
07:51You got to accelerate the rebuild.
07:53Let's consider trading Steph.
07:55I think, honestly, right now, post-Jimmy Butler injury is the first time, it is the first
08:01time in Bay Area history that you can call a radio show and say that and not get laughed
08:07at.
08:08It's this week.
08:09We've arrived at the first time, in my opinion.
08:12I know a lot of people have brought it up, but they always get just dismissed.
08:15Right.
08:16But this is the first time you can bring that up and not have it be an absurd point.
08:21But here's an exercise I did, and I wonder if y'all want to do it.
08:26Just actually imagine it.
08:29Wake up.
08:30No.
08:31And there's the news.
08:32No.
08:33And now imagine.
08:34No.
08:3524 hours later.
08:36Stop it.
08:37The press conference.
08:38Mark.
08:39And then 24 hours after that.
08:41I'm going to ask you to stop it.
08:42The game.
08:43There's the game at Madison Square Garden, and Steph Curry is passing to OG Ananobi.
08:49Stop it.
08:50Who then penetrates, kicks to Josh Hart, who then swings it back to Steph for a Madison
08:56Square Garden 28-footer.
08:59Splash.
09:00Tell me.
09:01No.
09:02It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
09:04He cannot be that guy.
09:06He cannot be that guy.
09:09And those of you who keep saying this, I don't know, did you or did you not just throw up
09:15in your mouth?
09:16I have been throwing up all morning.
09:18I find that to be absolutely emotionally unacceptable.
09:23It's completely unacceptable.
09:24And what you said before, I totally disagree with, where for the first time now, this week
09:30is a time that you can say that and not get totally laughed at.
09:33And I'm still laughing at those people.
09:35And I love Matt Steinmetz like a brother.
09:37I've known him a long time, but the whole thing that this morning with them about, you
09:41know, the idea of trading Steph Curry, I'm not here for it.
09:45I'm not here for it now.
09:46I'm not here for it ever.
09:48And if Steph wants that, then good on you, Steph.
09:51Then at that point, I'll have to deal with it.
09:53But if you think about the Kobe Bryant, that's a great comp because you were down there.
09:57I think Kobe was at the end and he got hurt and then they signed him and they brought
10:03him back and the Lakers were flat terrible.
10:06They won 17 games in 2015, 2016.
10:09His last year, they went 17 and 65 and they were printing money because people were lining
10:16up out the door to see Kobe Bryant, even though the team was bad.
10:19Um, boxing and girls from work injury attorneys text line.
10:22If the Spurs offered Fox Harper and a one for Curry, would you say no?
10:28I didn't even get past Fox.
10:30You could have said Wimbenyama.
10:32Right.
10:33And I'd have said no.
10:35Right.
10:36Like that's just me though.
10:37I get it.
10:38If your answer is, is something else, I really do.
10:40I get it.
10:41But I mean, the Lakers post Kobe, it was only three more years and then they won a title
10:45again.
10:45Exactly.
10:46So.
