00:00hey everyone and welcome back to the spotlight i have a video i want to share with you guys
00:16so let's do it i decided to set this sermon up by giving you a little personal anecdote
00:23um from my life experience i have never coached one of my children in sports
00:26i just decided that my enthusiasm about being their dad shouldn't punish the other children on
00:32the team with my lack of expertise in sports i think you know what i'm talking about i think
00:36you've all had that coach cussed out that coach and complained about that coach i always coached
00:40them personally on the sidelines graham said something so devious the other day because
00:42he's a good little wrestler now good big wrestler now it's not literally same size as me and he
00:46said uh now that i look he said now that i look back he said i thought you i thought you were so
00:51op as a wrestler when i was little but now that i look back and realize how little you actually
00:56knew about wrestling it's amaze it's amazing to me how much you coached me knowing almost nothing
01:00about the sport uh that's funny i try to coach my kids for the challenges of their life of course
01:06you know they didn't sign up to be on your team so they don't care much to listen uh to your advice
01:09and you can't kick them off and so you are limited in your coaching but i have found all joking aside
01:13that would be one of the greatest and most stretching challenges and privileges of my life
01:17just to be there for them especially in those moments um my oldest son elijah he called me from
01:22college and this is one of those moments uh last semester and i think in the transition of being
01:26a freshman in college he just wanted to hear my voice on a few things but i could tell that he
01:29was down and that he was low and that happens to all of us so um after we pushed past that a little
01:33bit i said i'll tell you what i said um you want to call me back at like three o'clock and have
01:38something to write down with and i'll coach you up a little bit i'll coach you as if uh you paid me to
01:42do it and he said i would love that and so he called me at the scheduled time of the appointment
01:46and we did we set up an actual appointment and i said okay what i think you're feeling right now
01:51is that you are feeling like all of the resources that you relied on when you lived at home you're
01:56still resourced and and you still have us at college but you know everything is new to you
01:59and so when i get in that place where i'm a personal life feel like i have reached the end
02:04of my resources uh and i get in that funk and you know the devil starts telling me the same things
02:08he's telling you as a college student but he tells me them as a grown man that i have nothing
02:12really to offer or that my best is behind me or that i'm no longer relevant or that the things that
02:17my critics have said about me are right or that you know just the list goes on and on i don't
02:21want to bore you with it but when i get in that place i've learned to make a list and so i told
02:24them i'm going to take you through this today of how to make a list when you feel low so i said
02:28one list that i of course make that i've taught you about is gratitude things to be grateful for
02:31you've heard about that there's nobody who has a tiktok account who hasn't heard the importance
02:34of a gratitude list but i said there's another type of list that i like to make and it's when i'm
02:38basically telling myself that i'm in this alone and that nobody is there for me and i know that's not
02:42true but it feels true emotionally i say i'll make a list of every person that is in my life
02:46that has in a past time or even recently said that they would be willing to help me or that i think
02:52might be willing to help me even in the smallest way if they ever helped me before or if i think
02:56they might help me if they mentioned one time that they would help me i will just start writing a list
02:58i said now the hardest part is going to be to start the list because right now you're feeling like
03:02well nobody cares about me and nobody likes me but that's just recency bias that's just the last
03:07thing that happened to you posing as the biggest thing that happened to you and it's not and as you
03:12begin to write what you're going to find is when you start writing with no discretion with no editing
03:16you'll have a hard time stopping writing the list don't qualify anything don't asterisk anything
03:20don't yeah but they might or but then if they do that for me i gotta do that for them and then if
03:23you can't do that how about somebody you could do something for y'all quiet y'all like the first
03:28part of the list better but i said sometimes it's better to even say like well who's somebody that i
03:31could just encourage who's somebody that i could just send a text to i said and when you start the
03:35list don't don't stop until you you have to stop yourself sir is this church or is this one of
03:41those tony what's his name is it robbins groups motivation see because he's not called he's going
03:48to find things to motivate you like he's tony robbins tony robbins or something like that
03:53because it's not called the holy spirit would tell you what to talk to his children about there's
03:57there's always something new that they don't know so why are you talking about some funky list
04:02why why are you wasting time with this so you who doesn't who knows nothing else but what they
04:14what they teach you because you know you're not a teacher so you go sit under a teacher who's not
04:17even called and they start telling you about a list to look about why you should be happy and grateful
04:23like that's something outside that's something that the holy spirit is not focused on holy spirit is
04:35focused on your soul not on your new relationship with the lord not just your mental you know getting
04:43through problems by writing a list because with the holy spirit
04:49the holy spirit will be your guide the holy spirit will take the load off
04:58so telling whomever to write a list lets you know that's not the holy spirit
05:05the holy spirit doesn't need to tell me to write a list the holy spirit delivers me
05:12from that problem of feeling that i don't know
05:16something's missing in my life the holy spirit god delivers me from that feeling and then to tell
05:26me to write this about what i'm happy about i'm walking around happy i already know i don't have to
05:29write a list about it about how happy i am that's fake write how happy you are um i don't feel that way
05:37but he's saying you won't feel that way right now but it's like why why should i should feel that way
05:42because i have the holy spirit see what he's saying i should feel happy
05:46so i gotta write about something i'm not experiencing it's fake
05:53because once you start trust me and so we did it together on the phone and what i said happened
06:00happened because i'm a good coach just not a sports
06:03it's not about you it's not about you i don't care if he didn't have to pay for it and he got it free
06:09just because he's your child like duh but if someone's paying for this
06:16they got scammed because the holy spirit fulfills me
06:21god works from the inside out
06:25you don't have to try to promote your coaching
06:30the holy spirit is my coach why because i'm delivered for the from those feelings i know why
06:37i'm happy i don't have to write a list about it
06:39because i'm having a relationship with the with the creator of my emotions so he knows how to
06:49make me feel wonderful at all at all times
06:53yes there's those times where you may feel like well you know and have a question but god what he
06:59answers your question before you ask so i'm not wondering around in la la land
07:04about anything in this place because he's taking care of me
07:09and he's like this is crazy this is amazing you're right this is crazy and they know them
07:25and i said see see how it happens and now you got to stop because now i'm going to tell you the next
07:28hardest part of this i'm going to need you to act on at least one of them and reach out
07:34and reach out because you feel low so i want you to i want you to learn the pattern in your life
07:38that when you feel low on resource reach in and then reach out
07:43reach in where what are you talking about look first of all this is not this this person he's
07:51talking about i think it's his son and they're going to go along with you because you're his dad
07:57try that try that with me because guess what it ain't gonna work you know why because i'm already happy
08:02what should he have said if his son said he fell down he should have prayed with his son
08:08instilling prayer into his son what relationship into his son
08:16relationship with god because god will deliver him is he talking to god
08:23is he praying
08:26god takes care of all of me from head to toe nothing's left out
08:32and you may say well that was good he did less with him okay but then he's going to go back down
08:39to that that mood again why because he's not delivered
08:41any kind of depression anxiety god can deliver you from
08:45people have moods you know no they don't not if they're saved
08:50they're happy i haven't had any kind of moods like that
08:54that people say they're having anxiety depression all that no
08:57jesus gave us an example did you see him have any kind of mood swings and all that anxiety no why
09:06the holy spirit
09:07walking in faith
09:13oh how do you get there by believing that you're saved
09:21if if i believe in god then i know that there's gonna be groceries in the refrigerator if i believe in god
09:28i know my car is gonna be paid if i believe in god i know my rent's gonna get paid if i believe in god
09:33i know everything in my life is gonna work like a symphony why because i believe in him
09:37you can't believe in god and be like i'm having depression and i'm having this and i'm feeling that i rebuke you say the name of jesus i'm fine god's deliver me
09:46is it because i said you say the name of jesus
09:54yes and what else i run to the lord and what he takes care of me i have to keep running to the lord
10:02rebuking satan why because that's a relationship
10:05someone wants to be in a relationship when they don't feel what needed by the person
10:10i love you i need you i love you i need you too that's a relationship of love i love you
10:18i love you i need you in my life
10:22not like well i don't think i don't feel needed yeah i know right the person doesn't talk to you
10:28everything under control like that no one wants to feel that we're in a relationship
10:35would be nice if you know you share your life with me yeah right like a relationship
10:38that's what you have to do with god
10:43reach in and then reach out and you don't have to reach out to everybody on the list and you don't
10:47have to ask them to do something and you don't have to stand there and stare at the bubbles everything
10:50outside of god where is god sir oh god you're not called you're not called to the children of god
10:57because you're not even bringing up the lord to your son
11:01that's why i got pointed out this video who's your false teacher self-called self-appointed as you
11:09can see the first thing that should have came out your mouth was let's pray
11:16because god knows him better than you
11:21he knows his heart he knows his mind he knows exactly what's going on things you don't see
11:25and god will take care of it but you don't trust god because you're not listening
11:32be quiet sit down shut up and it's the word of lord in your life sir you're not called to teach the
11:37children of god as you can see what you just did you're not called to teach
11:43there is no amount of list i could write there is no amount of books i could read that can do better
11:54than the lord our god in my life
12:00he is the one showing me how to be the best me i can be and you supposed to be teaching that
12:06and you too to your children
12:12because of your own relationship with god because you don't have one this is what you're talking about
12:18in church in the house of the lord no god's not there
12:25because you think that your list or whatever else you're teaching in your private sessions that you're
12:32getting paid for is enough without god and you can try to bring him up later but he is first
12:40because when he does things it's in order
12:45and i can be hands off
12:50the power of prayer what are you talking about this and then go reach out to people he ain't reaching
12:57out to the right one
13:03and you may say oh we do that all the time we need to do it more because it's not just about doing
13:09it as a group or reaching out to people you need to have a relationship with the lord because he takes
13:12care of all things in your life all nothing is left out the third hardest part of this and the hardest
13:18part of all is after you reach out i need you to release your need for them to respond
13:25because they might not this sound like some kind of one of those motivation groups and that's what he's
13:32trying to be he's trying to make sure he says what lukewarm he's not talking to christians he's
13:37talking he won't talk to everybody he wants to talk to lukewarm and the sinners oh this isn't so
13:43you know this isn't really talking about the scriptures this is just kind of motivation and
13:47you know because i'm really not saved anyway
13:51instead of opening up your word and preaching because you can't because you have the holy spirit
13:57the holy spirit will let you talk about all this stupid stuff about some lists of reaching out to
14:01people people can't help you they can't save you they can do nothing for you they can't love you
14:08they don't owe you anything if they do it that's great because they want to they may care for you
14:13they may love you but it's not a guarantee like god is he's a guarantee he'll show up
14:19in the late night hour early in the morning when nobody picks up their phone that's who you lean on not on
14:27depending on people
14:30predicate your happiness or your strength on their response you could end up worse off after this
14:35exercise than you were before you did it because now it will have served to have reinforced your
14:39insecurity that nobody is there for me so i need you to everybody repeat after me reach and release
14:45say it again reach and release so that's what we're gonna do and and he did that and i told him i said
14:50you might reach out to somebody and say hey can we get together hey remember when we talked about hey
14:54because he was in a state that we've all been there before like i don't really have anything
14:56and i don't i don't have that many people and i don't have enough and i said well the first thing
14:59you need to do is remind yourself of the resources you have and then reach but then release because
15:04they might get your text but it's just a bad time he's trying to teach his son how to have friends
15:11that's something god can do you're not saying well maybe you should ask the lord for friends
15:20he's the only one who can bring that french those friends to you there's something missing
15:26your child doesn't have friends who can bring him bring them friends only god can an amount of
15:33teaching that you can tell your child or do that only god can do that thing
15:38but only god can do that only he can bring friends because he knows their intent so something's out
15:44of his hands what does he do he tells him to reach out to people who are not being friendly goodbye
15:54they're they're ignoring whatever why because somebody's missing in his life what jesus
15:59only god can do that thing only god can do things that's out of your hands and it's there for a
16:06reason it's out your hands for a reason why because you need him that's why i just be a bad time and
16:12you might create stories in your mind that they don't like me they don't care about me something
16:19horrible happened that they didn't tell me about they're dead no they're not dead they're just asleep
16:23taking a nap it might just be a matter of timing timing everybody say timing timing timing timing
16:31that's what i saw in john chapter two this time that in all of my sojourns through this text
16:35joining the milieu of students of the scripture through the millennia who have wondered about
16:39this question why is jesus at a wedding when he's only got three years to change the world
16:45you will recall that his life was cut short at the age of 33 you will recall that for the thirst
16:49that's a lie it wasn't cut short see what he said it's not the holy spirit he was here the
16:55perfect amount of time to handle god's business it's about the lord
16:59cut short it's not about you and your plan what you mean cut short he did more than someone who
17:07lived 500 years old what you're talking about
17:14it's cut short because he died for my sins i hope you could say in the name of jesus you hear what he
17:19said first 30 years of his ministry there is no record of his ministry activity meaning that everything
17:24we have that was written about him other than him getting lost at the temple one time and sitting
17:28around with the older teachers well it simply isn't there for our records and so the question becomes
17:33jesus do you really have time do you think he would say this in front of jesus
17:41would everybody look at jesus
17:46banished he would be banished off that stage
17:49to stop by a wedding when you only have three years to change the world your discipleship team
17:56is not exactly executive world-class material you got a lot of work to do with these boys are you
18:02sure you want to take them too
18:05the disrespect is shocking god gives me joy so i can laugh through these false prophets it's like
18:23strength because god loves us and we're like we're children so the things he's saying is is crazy
18:32because i can't believe they're still sitting down instead of getting up and walking out
18:35because they don't love them that's why they're under a false future they're not saved
18:40a wedding on the first week that they're your disciples did you know that this is the first
18:44week that they're following jesus yeah where the bible says show in verse one because everything in
18:47the text makes me think about the timing of jesus on the third day a wedding took place and you're
18:51like oh yeah the third day resurrection not yet we still got a long way to go until jesus
18:55gets up from the grave he hasn't died yet he hasn't healed blind bartimaeus yet he hasn't taught
18:59the pharisees and the sadducees with authority and rebuked them for their
19:02stiff neck adherence to he's so into make sure he's cool and liked in that he's entertaining
19:07you forget that it's about the truth respect the lord our god how dare you say that about jesus
19:14and who he chose to be around him none of us are perfect he thinks that who are you the cream
19:21of the crop or something you're just as imperfect as we are
19:25that's why god loves us he loves us and that his love covers our flaws
19:37you wouldn't say that they were sitting in front of you right now he wouldn't say it
19:44men rather than the ways of god none of that has happened to yet and it says on the third day
19:48he went to a wedding the third day of what he's asking like he's fake or something the audacity
19:54you know if he could see them he wouldn't say that because he doesn't believe see he's only teaching
20:01as though he was teaching of one of those fairy tale stories or something he thinks it's a fairy tale
20:07but they're actually real people and they actually were there jesus actually walked on water it's like
20:14he doesn't believe it because he doesn't humble himself and think and speak right right because
20:19he doesn't have the holy spirit he doesn't honor the lord he doesn't believe it
20:25that's why god pointed you so you a false prophet sit down shut up and listen to the world over your
20:29life this is not your assignment and you can see why the things you're saying are very disrespectful to
20:34the people in the word of god like why did he choose them and why is he going to a wedding like who are you
20:45he would never be able to do what you would never be able to walk in their footsteps
20:52you would never be able to sit next to jesus until you get to heaven
20:57you'd never be able to be there with him
20:59so they all get our utmost respect for you to sit sit here and and say that about them like they
21:06weren't worthy how dare you jesus said they're worthy to be with be around him
21:13that's why you don't have the holy spirit with you you have a demon with you that's why you're saying
21:16those things third day after he selected his disciples for years i read this and thought it was
21:22the third day of the wedding feast because in these days they would party for a week at a wedding
21:25so i thought it meant the third day of the wedding that's not what it means put it back up on the
21:29third day a wedding took place at cana so we realized from the very beginning of this text
21:34it's not happening on our timeline it's happening on his thank you holly exactly
21:41see what he's saying he's trying to confuse you because he doesn't he's not speaking from the holy
21:45spirit interpret the word it's happening on his tell somebody it's happening on his
21:51not your schedule it's happening on his yeah it's happening on his it's happening on his that is one
21:55of the most difficult lessons for us to learn that sometimes when we believe a promise from god we
22:00expect that promise to happen according to our plan but it's not happening according to my plan
22:06it's not happening on my say so it's not happening those don't connect at all do they no they don't a
22:11wedding's happening oh you went to the store yesterday guess what all of it is in god's time
22:23what are you talking about he's the alpha and the omega he thinks there's a difference between what
22:28jesus did when he was here walking with us and what you're doing in your life there's no difference
22:35he's trying to act as though because something happened in the past that is on jesus time so is
22:47today that's why you've been pointed out as a false prophet because you're trying to confuse the
22:51children of god by saying there's a different time and it's all in god all of it is until until
22:57judgment day and then beyond that in heaven is god's time too so what you talking about be quiet
23:03happening according to my preference is happening according to his purpose that being said don't
23:09you want to kind of tell jesus to read a leadership book and learn how to say no read the scripture it
23:13says on the third day oh leadership take a seat see what he's taking these little jabs because he has
23:23satan with him that's why he's jealous of jesus and so it's speaking out of this man because he'll never
23:30be forgiven that's it the only one who talks like that is satan repent for false prophecy you're not
23:38allowed to teach children of god and this is why the little jabs you're taking is not from the holy
23:43spirit satan a wedding took place cana in galilee jesus mother was there and jesus and his disciples
23:50had also been invited to the wedding so you're running jesus is scheduling your administrative assistant
23:55and you're going through all of the possible things that the son of god the perfect word of god that
23:58was made flesh and dwelt among us the one whom through and by whom and for whom all things were
24:02created that were created and he's sitting down oh did you memorize that with your eyes closed you
24:07want us to give you a round of applause oh yay you memorize the word of god but you don't love
24:13him you false prophet that's why you say what you just said
24:19sit down shut up you're not called this is why you have a demon with you false prophecy you're not
24:24allowed to teach the word of god to god's children because you don't love him he didn't choose you to
24:29do this repent so god comes with those demons you can be delivered hey jesus we've got this wedding
24:38in cana but i told him no and jesus said no actually we're going no but jesus this is not your assignment
24:44sir when you repent for false prophecy the lord will share with you your assignment and remove the demons
24:52so you can be free you're blocked whatever you're trying to go with this you're not going your desire
24:58you're blocked i don't care what it look like god knows your desire and you're not going to get it
25:05wedding and we've got to change the world not doing false prophecy not trying to teach the word to the
25:11children of god because you're going to give half lies and half truth trying to say that jesus needs to
25:16take one of your funky classes in leadership you're not a leader we're going and what i took from that
25:23that i want to pass on to you is that you might be surprised where jesus would show up if you would
25:27invite him because we do think that we got to be almost going under to cry out to him for help
25:35and then he'll come we do think that we have to be going through the fire of hell to call and then
25:40he'll come but what if he wants to join you in your moments of celebration to make them even sweeter
25:44i don't mean you got to be weird and stop at the ball game lord we thank you for that base hit for
25:50god you are the basis of every base hit and on christ the solid rock we said no just shut up and
25:55in your heart have a moment tell somebody have a moment just a moment what god can do in one open
26:01moment might change the rest of your life but if you're waiting on what you perceive to be a god
26:06moment which means you know i can call on him in the prison cell why not call on him and ask him to
26:09come to the wedding feast too he has time for this and i think that's amazing i think it's amazing
26:16that he came to the wedding i think it's amazing that he took the time to stop by i think it's
26:20amazing that we don't even know whose wedding it was because who was at the wedding becomes even more
26:24important than who was married at the wedding jesus goes from the plus one to the miracle worker
26:30in the eyes of the disciples and that is where we pick up he was invited to a wedding and verse
26:35three says can we just study this uh verse by verse for a moment yeah can we just study this verse
26:40by verse for a moment okay when the wine was gone when the wine was gone it would seem to me
26:50that if he was already at the wedding and he intended to replenish the supply
26:54it would have been better to do it when the wine was getting a little low did he intend to do it
27:02no he did not he did not intend to do it he did not step in when the wine got low it would seem to
27:10me that if he was coming to the wedding and he is god in the flesh that he could have brought wine
27:15to the wedding because he knew they would run out if he's omniscient herein lies one of the great
27:19mysteries of the mercy of god that he lets the human supply completely run out before he steps in
27:29just because you've run out doesn't mean he won't still step in i could preach a whole revival on that
27:35really because i'm preaching to somebody out of energy out of answers out of ideas out of innovations
27:40out of people to call out of people to text i made my list i went through my list nobody hit me back
27:44i'm out he's saying everything but what time i'm out of opportunities i'm out just because you're out
27:51doesn't mean he won't step in and now you know why we were singing that he's always on time earlier
27:58because even though there are some times where he didn't show up right when we wanted him to
28:03there were also some times that we learned some things in the lag time that we would not have learned
28:08why i break this down i break this down if he had stepped in immediately if the wine never ran out
28:12it would have been about the wine if the job never dried up it would have been about the job
28:18if the relationship would have always stayed intact and always been easy it would have been about that
28:22person so he let it get hard so he let it run out so we let it run dry so this is the see he needs
28:27to give you an excuse on why you don't have something why because he's a false teacher
28:33so he's trying to take you to where it's some kind of waiting time
28:35but you don't have to wait the holy spirit with me now i don't have to wait nothing's running out
28:46so what is he saying that you're running out and then when you once you run out god will give it to
28:50you no my cup overflow see he doesn't have the holy spirit with him i don't run out
28:56and just because they ran out and it was time for him to start to work
28:59so mary says time for you to start he didn't want to but he listened to her to his mother
29:11it was time for him to begin
29:16so what are you talking about when i run out it never runs out be quiet all right so we let it
29:21lag a little bit no nothing he stepped in there would nothing lags in my life see now it before you
29:28get saved there's a lot of blocking rejection lag that he's talking about that's before you get saved
29:35but with jesus i'm fully stocked what you talking about see he's not experiencing the holy spirit
29:43don't let someone's life fool you because he's lacking without the holy spirit he's on stage trying to
29:50use his intellectual thoughts to break down the word of god but he didn't do it right you know why
29:57because it is what that is that the world is in lack without jesus but when you have jesus
30:07it's not period
30:14a revelation and now there's a conversation between mary the mother of jesus and jesus the son of god
30:19and this is humorous and you have to see the humor in it because i really can't tell what's going on at
30:23first i really can't because and that's for the unsaved one he's trying to say that's for the saved
30:29one no jesus first three and says they have no more wine two words in greek no wine it's a it's a
30:35very it's a very strange thing for her exactly is it about his intent he wants to help no it's about obedience
30:43you know i want to help people so i'm gonna go be a cop okay and i'm gonna go take the classes
30:50i'm gonna put on the outfit i'm gonna start helping people pulling them over
30:56you know helping helping people out there arresting people but i'm not supposed to be out there i'm
31:01supposed to be right here why because god said so if god told me i was a cop i'll be one
31:08fire woman i'll be one that's not what i am
31:11why because i wouldn't be able to use my gifts there
31:21so what he's trying to be he's not
31:25how hard that must be to be you know trying to be something you're not how uncomfortable that is
31:33and it's like a shame it's like you're not even where he's supposed to be sir it's a waste of time
31:40you're not gonna get any see god brings me joy that's the whole point of him giving me life did
31:46he give me life to suffer no he gave me life so that i can enjoy it with in relation with him
31:54i'm in the hedge of protection which is like the garden of eden because i'm in relationship with the
31:58lord so i'm doing something that i love something he gave me i'm using those talents and those gifts
32:05i'm not doing something where i can't express them like go be a cop go be a fire woman
32:18i'll probably be sitting there talking to people like she talked too much
32:23she always talking about god he always preaching to us
32:28so i wouldn't fit there why because god said no i'm supposed to be here
32:39there's no love what he's sharing he's just put that together and there's no love there
32:48god is a love
32:49him to fix it but i think she's implying that he should
32:53it's one of these it's like no wine and he goes woman and i'm like what he said woman
33:02why do you involve me this is hilarious to me
33:04no wine woman what does that have to do with me now watch this statement because we're talking about
33:07time we're talking about time remember i say time put it in the chat say time he said my hour has not
33:11yet come okay so she's not exactly asking him to fix it but she's implying that he could
33:21he's not exactly refusing to do it but he's implying that he might not
33:25how does that help you
33:32that she implied or she said or she tried to coax him to do what does that do with you
33:39do you feel something about that is that going to help you
33:43and i can imagine all of the responses that mary the mother of jesus would have had in this moment
33:47if she had had an attitude like many of us because what's what he said
33:52stop assuming all he can do is assume how she said something
33:56trying to make it a whole show be quiet
34:01about something that happened he's trying to like
34:05you're not one of those producers of the chosen like see he wants to be doing that stuff he wants
34:10to be in acting now he's trying to assume what the like trying to build some kind of character
