00:00hey this is indigo 91.9 fm on air and indigomusic.com on digital i'm rohit and right now it is time for
00:09yet another edition of founders frequency this is where we talk to founders and figure out
00:13how they made it to where they are right now and today joining me is a very special guest he is the
00:18chief executive officer of a topic that i'm very intrigued about and he's of course the company is
00:25called augsense lab uh mr kannan welcome to founders frequency thank you thank you rohit thanks a lot
00:31it's a honor for me to be with you today now the industry that uh your company works in is aerospace
00:38and defense first of all uh talk to you about your company name what does it mean in layman terms if
00:44you could just explain so we started this organization in 2019 focusing on remote sensing
00:52and sensor fusion in various technologies and various uh domain so the whole idea is to create
01:01sensing solution okay right and uh you have also worked uh before you became a founder you worked
01:09in companies like simmons healthcare and uh you know certain other companies so tell me the journey
01:15from you working for a brand like simmons which is a big brand to you starting your own uh something on
01:21your own how has that journey been over the past 20 25 years so even my i i have joined augsense lab
01:27where i formed augsense lab with four more co-founders yeah so all are having 25 to 35 years of
01:35experience with the global product firms like a siemens philips sony etc so and uh so on and off we
01:45were directly working for siemens or sometimes we were working through uh product engineering
01:51companies like it at alexi quest global etc product development yeah we had a feeling that the core ip
01:58and research was not coming from india okay so we felt that's a need as a founder we need to invest on
02:07so when we formed augsense lab which formed like a research lab okay to create more ips in india and
02:16also uh you know i read somewhere that uh you were able to develop solution to predict cloudbursts and
02:22something to do with weather tell me more about that when we start with uh siemens and philips
02:28everything obviously our uh most of our founding team's exposure was with the computer tomography
02:35x-ray mra etc so but uh when we started augsense lab we were exploring different domain and weather
02:44became one of the domain which we got access to that right and in weather the problem which
02:51everybody was facing was we are having a lot of weather forecasting information like
02:56what is the temperature next one hour two hour but if we wanted to clearly predict what is going to
03:03be an extreme weather event in happen in indira nagar or not currently we do not have sufficient
03:10sensing mechanism and unfortunately this extreme weather events are getting increased year by year
03:18and 2025 itself at least 200 people are died in india due to cloudburst
03:26or landslides due to cloudburst so that was the thought process of that so we created technology
03:34called genesis tomography okay so more like a satellite when a satellite signals coming from
03:41satellite to ground it will undergo refraction okay and if you are able to capture what was that
03:48we will be able to identify what is in between so that technology is developed and right now we are
03:55piloting this technology with kerala disaster management authority in western god once the pilot is
04:03successful uh we will we will scale up this product to uh western god and some part of jammu kashmir
04:11and utarakhand region also right and also i heard about atomic receiver it's uh technology which is
04:19uh your core innovation uh tell me more about the atomic receiver yeah so atomic receiver is when we
04:25were developing solution for weather the core part of is the rf signal uh reception okay so this is the
04:35time where quantum sensing and quantum computing has a lot of interest a lot of progress happening
04:41across the world so what we try to build is we bring quantum sensing and rf signal processing
04:51together so that's the whole idea of atomic receiver so you can actually put because the size is small
04:57you can put it in multiple areas and actually get accurate you know readings from uh the atomic is that
05:03what you're saying yeah yeah so so it has a lot of applications weather that's obviously that's
05:08application and it also have different types of applications in aerospace and defense also
05:14not only that uh certain uh certain type of radars are not capable to be put it in drones okay uh because
05:22of its very height and size and weight yeah so when you miniaturize the radars with atomic receiver
05:30uh the so for example ground penetrating radar okay if currently we are not practically
05:38using a modality called ground penetrating radar to understand what is suppose if you wanted to dig
05:43somewhere whether there is a pipe is there or not currently we just dig and we allow the leak to come
05:50out yeah so if we have a smaller ground penetrating radar we can just find it out where is the current
05:57pipeline so that's that similarly so many such innovations we are going to start with atomic receiver
06:04fantastic now before i let you go mr khanan one message to young budding entrepreneurs who want
06:10to uh start something on their own and be their own boss i have uh willing that focus on uh research
06:16and uh also it's the time probably may not be a popular way that i have feeling that regular software
06:24startups times are over so focus on something which will give a long-term mode for you and don't always
06:34look for replicas create try to chase something new uh yeah probably where that would be the message
06:42i we founders are uh discussing among ourselves maybe that's the same to others also fantastic well
06:50mr khanan thank you so much for sharing insights about your company and of course uh a lot of
06:55technology that you're building which is commendable thank you so much for being on founders frequency
06:59and have a wonderful day ahead thank you thank you thanks a lot
