00:00A local school district here is alleging ICE agent to detain a five-year-old after preschool on Tuesday.
00:05We've also seen multiple American citizens detained by ICE in the last five and last six weeks.
00:12Are you proud of how your administration is conducting this immigration crackdown here in Minnesota?
00:17Well, I'm proud of the fact that we're standing behind law enforcement,
00:21and I'm proud of the fact that we're enforcing the country's laws.
00:24But, you know, you asked a question about this five-year-old kid.
00:26I actually saw this terrible story while I was coming to Minneapolis.
00:30We had just left Toledo, Ohio this morning for an economic messaging event.
00:33And I see this story, and I'm a father of a five-year-old, actually, a five-year-old little boy.
00:38And I think to myself, oh, my God, this is terrible.
00:40How did we arrest a five-year-old?
00:42Well, I do a little bit more follow-up research.
00:44And what I find is that the five-year-old was not arrested, that his dad was an illegal alien.
00:50And then when they went to arrest his illegal alien father, the father ran.
00:54So the story is that ICE detained a five-year-old.
00:58Well, what are they supposed to do?
01:00Are they supposed to let a five-year-old child freeze to death?
01:03Are they not supposed to arrest an illegal alien in the United States of America?
01:07If the argument is that you can't arrest people who have violated our laws because they have children,
01:14then every single parent is going to be completely given immunity from ever being the subject of law enforcement.
01:20That doesn't make any sense.
01:21No one thinks that makes any sense.
01:23Now, you know, there are so many of these cases like that where if you just understand the context,
01:28there have been a number of situations that I've looked into personally where I say,
01:31wait a second, we don't want ICE arresting American citizens.
01:35They're supposed to be enforcing the immigration laws against illegal aliens.
01:39So then I look into it and I find out that the American citizen who was arrested took a swing at an ICE officer.
01:46You can't have that happen.
01:47And of course they have to defend themselves.
01:49And of course they have the right to detain somebody who assaults a law enforcement officer.
01:53Now, this is my point.
01:56Do we want these things to happen?
01:58Do we want these arrests to be so chaotic?
02:01No, we don't.
02:03These guys want it least of all.
02:04But if we had a little cooperation from local and federal, or excuse me, from local and state officials,
02:09I think the chaos would go way down in this community.
