00:00Vice President J.D. Vance was in Minnesota on Thursday with a directive from his boss,
00:04President Trump. Here's how the Veep put it. Meet these guys halfway, work with them so that we can
00:10make these immigration enforcement operations successful without endangering our ICE officers
00:15and so that we can turn down the chaos a little bit at least. So what would that look like? Well,
00:20the vice president had a suggestion or two. I don't need Tim Walz or Jacob Frey or anybody else
00:25to come out and say that they agree with J.D. Vance or Donald Trump on immigration. I just
00:29don't need that. What I do need them to do is empower their local officials to help our local
00:35or help our federal officials out in a way where this can be a little bit less chaotic and it can
00:40be a little bit more targeted. Like if we're trying to find a sex offender, tell us where the guy lives.
00:45Vance's visit came soon after three people suspected of leaving an anti-ICE mob to storm a church last
00:50weekend were arrested. Those detained include a Black Lives Matter leader who was once the president
00:55of the Minneapolis chapter of the NAACP and a woman who serves on the St. Paul Public Schools
01:00Board of Education. One person not arrested was former CNN host and now independent journalist
01:07Don Lemon. A federal judge in Minnesota rejected the Justice Department's request to charge him in the
01:13protest.
