00:00This is a local issue. In the last year or so, of the 30 Ponga landings, and Pongas are filled
00:06with illegal aliens involved in drug trafficking, human trafficking, and potentially terrorists.
00:14There's no question about that. They may not, they're from multiple nations, people that are
00:20just trying to be smuggled in, pay up to $15,000 a head to get a ride on these Ponga boats.
00:25It's a safety issue, not only from our community, from a public safety point of view, of boats
00:31being washed up on our beaches with the resulting oil, gas, and other debris, as well as human
00:39life. And in the last month or two, five human beings have died on these boats. So it's a
00:46serious public safety issue. A lot of comments about police state and invasion of privacy.
00:51Our privacy is not being invaded. None of your privacy is being invaded. None of your
00:59liberties are being invaded. If you're an illegal alien and you're caught in this town, you're
01:04going to be anywhere else in this country, hopefully, you're going to be removed, because
01:07that's the law. That's the law of the land. It's been that way for decades and decades.
01:13It isn't changing. And President Trump seems to be the only one that in the last five years
01:19that's been willing to enforce the law. Thoughts about how we're already being watched and how
01:27this camera is somehow going to be watching us. If any of you have been up on the hilltop
01:32to look at this and you look down at the city of San Clemente, what are you looking at? You're
01:37not looking at people. You can't even see roads. What you see is rooftops and ocean. So to say
01:44that we're going to have our privacy invaded is speculation, it's fear-mongering. But the
01:51purpose, the purpose of this is clear.
