00:00Everton's campaign has been defined by inconsistency but beneath the mixed results
00:07there are genuine signs of progress that suggest David Moyes' side are building something sturdier
00:13than many expected. The Toffees have alternated between frustrating draws and eye-catching
00:20victories this season with performances often shaped by who is available and the heavy rotation
00:26imposed by injuries and suspensions. The league stuff has been okay, we've been doing okay
00:32in that, we're disappointed that we've gone out of the Cups early but we want to now finish
00:38in a strong position, we're going to try and work hard to get that but obviously we need
00:43to get all our better players back. January was always going to be difficult just because
00:48first and foremost the two boys go to AFCON and we're thrilled that they've reached the
00:54final with Senegal but that was two down before we even start, before you talk about suspensions
01:01and injuries and we've had a sort of batch of them in this month which hasn't helped so
01:05it's been a difficult period for us just to get things the way we want to.
01:10Yet there have been positive flashes, Everton delivered a significant statement with a 1-0
01:14victory at Aston Villa, their first win at Villa Park in a decade showing resilience and
01:20tactical discipline on the road. Meanwhile in the 1-1 draw with Wolves at home they fought
01:26despite being reduced to nine men, opening the door for teenage talent and highlighting squad spirit.
01:33No we started the season really well and we're still in a really good position but you know
01:39we want to be higher you know maybe two points more makes you feel a bit better because you're
01:44further up you might be sitting 8th or 9th if you do that possibly. So we've got to try and get
01:50back on it again, get back but it's difficult you know we've not got the strongest squad we've
01:55had quite a few injuries we've had the boys away so that's made it difficult for us.
01:59The reality hasn't changed we've said all along, we're looking, we're trying, it's not as
02:05if we're not shut ourselves off from the transfer window. We need players more than ever and we
02:11probably need them as soon as possible if we could make that happen but more than likely
02:17this month is never done particularly quickly so we're still looking, I'm not sure we will
02:24get anything but we're trying.
02:27After 10 games Everton sat comfortably above their last season's comparable position and
02:33their attacking output has improved markedly compared to some recent years even if defensive
02:39vulnerabilities remain.
02:41In truth Everton's season has been a mix of gritty resilience and frustrating patches but
02:46the strides in confidence, structure and results against strong opposition show a team capable
02:51capable of climbing further provided they can maintain momentum and stay healthier on the pitch.
02:57And this is what I think we'll do here for the second season'soons of geometry.
03:01And as well we're not just out and withdrawing behind it, everything is
03:14but we're not done yet.
03:16We've missed points of representing theest, the best-marlimping of us almostト 싸 précis.
