00:10My kids had buckets, yeah I reckon it was probably 15 kilos of cane toads in my bucket.
00:16It was full to the brim and it was already full and Jen comes over carrying 10 more cane toads
00:21and we're trying to put them in and more going out and it was all pretty hectic.
00:26The growing cane toad population have been impacting flora and fauna in the botanic gardens for years.
00:32We've got lots of native lizards and snakes but also a lot of the local community walk their dogs through the gardens here as well
00:40and toads can be fatal to all of those animals.
00:43It's just good for all the native species.
00:45It's just sad to see them all being killed by cane toads and yeah we want to do as much as we can.
00:53While a local taxidermist is taking this load of toads, thoughts already turned to next year.
01:00We get quite a few in the dry season as well so started thinking that perhaps it could be a tourism product.
