00:00President Trump wants Emmanuel Macron on his Gaza Board of Peace, but the French president
00:06does not seem to be interested. It should come as no surprise that President Trump does not take
00:12kindly to turning down his invitations. You have seen what happens when sports teams don't want to
00:18go to the White House, let alone an invite of this magnitude. And his reaction to Macron's
00:23reluctance was very on brand. I'll put a 200% tariff on his wines and champagnes,
00:29and he'll join, but he doesn't have to join. Now, personally, I can think of nothing worse than
00:36that. At any rate, this is the second time Trump has made this exact same threat. The last time
00:42was this past March when he was in the middle of a trade war with the European Union. Now,
00:47Trump never went through with the wine and champagne tariff that time, but even the possibility was
00:52enough to send shockwaves through the industry and through people like me. The United States is the
00:58biggest importer of European sparkling wines to the tune of $1.75 billion in 2023, for instance. Now,
01:07it's not immediately clear how serious the threat was this time around because Trump also said this
01:13isn't about Macron not wanting to join the Board of Peace. Well, nobody wants it because he's going to be
01:18out of office for sure.
