00:01Precisely during his address at the World Economic Forum currently underway in Davos,
00:05the Chinese Vice Premier Hilly Fenn harshly criticised the US and its interventionist
00:10policies.
00:11More with our China correspondent, Bruno Falsi.
00:15Greetings comrades, I am in Beijing now to report to you that during the World Economic
00:21Forum in Davos, China took a firm stance against the unilateral policies of the United States,
00:28criticising its intervention in other countries in what Beijing calls the Law of the Jungle.
00:36The Vice Premier Hilly Fenn emphasised that all countries have the right to defend their
00:42sovereignty and legitimate interests, and that international cooperation, the free trade,
00:49and the inclusive globalization should guide global economic relations, rather than coercion
00:56and the imposition of the force.
00:59Let's see now his words.
01:01The rules must be applied equally to everyone.
01:05A handful of countries should not enjoy privileges based on their power and the war should not
01:11revert to the law of the jungle, where the strong intimidate the weak.
01:15Every country has the right to defend its legitimate rights and interests.
01:18Since joining the WTO, China has strictly followed the organization's rules, fully met its commitments
01:25and taken voluntary steps to contribute even more.
01:28Last year, it solemnly announced that it would not seek any new special or differential treatment
01:33in current or future WTO negotiations.
01:37China will continue to firmly uphold the WTO's centre's rules-based multilateral trading system
01:43and strongly support reforms of multilateral institutions, including the WTO and the IMF,
01:49with the aim of increasing the authority, effectiveness and inclusiveness of the multilateral trading system
01:55and enhancing the representation of the global south and developing countries.
01:59This violent warning from Beijing resonated directly with the situation in Venezuela, a country
02:08that has suffered economic sanctions, a naval blockade and a military invasion by the United
02:15States, including bombings that killed 100 people and led to the kidnapping of its president,
02:23Nicolas Maduro.
02:24These actions have been described a clear violation of international law and the use of force to
02:31impose United States interests, which China calls the law of the jungle.
02:38China reaffirms its support for multilateralism, the respect for sovereignty of states and the
02:46right of each country to decide on its own economy, making clear its rejections of the imposition
02:54national force and Washington interventionist policies.
02:58With this news from here, Beijing, we return with you in the studios in La Habana, Cuba.
