00:00Dwayne The Rock Johnson has confirmed that the Oscars did ask him to host the show,
00:04but he had to pass. Now, the actor has revealed what he would have planned if he had hosted
00:08Hollywood's Biggest Night. The Oscars will go hostless this year as the Academy is said to be
00:12taking an ensemble approach after Johnson's Jumanji co-star Kevin Hart stepped away from
00:18the gig in December amid a controversy over past homophobic tweets. As for what kept Johnson from
00:23taking the opportunity, he told The Hollywood Reporter it pained him to say no, but he had to
00:28due to scheduling conflicts on two films. The Fast and the Furious spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw.
00:33You guys have to work together.
00:37No way.
00:38This guy's a real ass.
00:40And a Jumanji sequel, which is about to start shooting.
00:43I like Kent even with this place.
00:46Johnson told THR he met multiple times with Oscar producers and began to assemble a team,
00:52as well as lay out specific bits and performance numbers. He revealed,
00:55I had this whole idea about this massive number, and I was going to sing, and I was going to bring
01:00in this person to sing, this person from the audience, and oh my god. And they were excited,
01:05but finally I had to pass. He continued,
01:07We were going to turn the Oscars on their head this year and make it something special and unique
01:12and different, and start a new era of how Oscars are going to be enjoyed. That was the goal.
01:17So, one day.
01:18The 91st Academy Awards will take place on February 24th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
01:23So, would you want to see The Rock host the Oscars in the future?
01:26Be sure to tweet me and let me know.
01:27Until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
