00:00U.S. President Donald Trump has said that he will charge a 10% import tax on goods from

00:08eight European nations because of their opposition to the U.S. control of Greenland, starting

00:13on the 1st of February.

00:15Trump said in a social media post on Saturday that Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany,

00:21the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Finland would face the tariff and that it would climb

00:26to 25% in June if a deal is not in place for, quote, the complete and total purchase of

00:32Greenland by the United States.

00:35French President Emmanuel Macron responded on social media platform X that tariff threats

00:40were unacceptable and that Europeans will respond in, quote, a united and coordinated manner

00:46if confirmed.

00:48Earlier on Saturday, hundreds of people in Greenland's capital joined the anti-Trump rally

00:53in support of their own staff governance.
