00:00U.S. President Donald Trump suggested on Friday that he may implement tariffs on countries that oppose the U.S. controlling of Greenland as a form of punishment.
00:10The comments come as European lawmakers continue to reject Trump's controversial plan, stressing that Greenland alone has the right to decide its future.
00:20And I may do that for Greenland too. I may put a tariff on countries if they don't go along with Greenland because we need Greenland for national security. So I may do that.
00:28The comments came despite a bipartisan congressional delegation visiting the Danish capital Copenhagen on Friday to reaffirm ties and display unity.
00:38Members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives met with Danish lawmakers, including Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and a Greenlandic committee.
00:47They reiterated their support for Denmark, a U.S. ally of 225 years, noting that it's a relationship that needs to grow further and be nurtured.
